comments Myself and my husband were married in November last year, and we had our reception in the Woodenbridge Hotel. We were incredibly impressed by the service and attention to detail that we experienced there. My husband's family travelled from America to be at the wedding and said they felt the hotel had a wonderful, warm and welcoming atmosphere. The hotel also catered for the special dietary needs of my husband and several family members (they are coeliacs) without batting an eyelid. We had such a memorable time staying at the Woodenbridge that we returned there a couple of weeks ago, for our one year anniversary. We experienced the same high level of service and welcoming atmosphere and one of the staff even remembered that we had had our wedding reception there! I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

comments Found the reception area in the lodge not to be very welcoming in its ambience, Staff were very helpful and willing to help with queries. Decor in bedrooms could be upgraded and room was cold when heating was not on. Food in the bar was wonderful and great value for money, breakfast was also delighful and cooked fresh as requested. Will return to this hotel and area in the comming year.

comments Very pleasant and convenient location. Room in The Lodge satisfactory. All staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfasts excellent. For dinner, the menu did not significantly change during the 5 days we were staying, which was very disappointing. The food and service were good, although the food portions were too large. Smaller portions and more choice required!

comments We stayed at the Lodge. We had requested a balcony room but did not get one and apparently they had been booked months in advance. Would have been nice to have the option in those circumstances of deciding whether we stayed at the main hotel or in the lodge. The Woodenbridge shouldn't assume that all customers are incontinent! Having a plastic sheet on top of the matress really does make an uncomfortable nights sleep - especially in summer!! Again because it was the Lodge and near the river and trees the bedroom could have been more cheerful - it was a bit gloomy. The wonderful thing about Woodenbridge is its setting in wonderful Wicklow countryside. The breakfast was good and the staff very helpful. We ate in the bar one evening and found the food there good as well.

The food was great and the banter in the bar was brilliant, the locals played great music and even got me singing some ballads! The area and views were fantastic and Avoca a 15 min walk..Cant wait to go back with my husband next time. Many Thanks for the hospitality.

comments We had a really good stay at Woodenbridge, Room 113 delightful and comfortable, staff all friendly and helpful, bar food pleasantly served and good. If we have any criticism (not too serious) it would be that the restaurant area is very bland, though again food very good.

comments We had a fabulous 1 night stay at the woodenbridge. The location is great; very quiet and beautiful views from the hotel. All the staff we met were very friendly and answered all our queries efficiently and professionally but with the personal touch that is often missing from service in hotels. We stayed in the lodge which is across the road from the main hotel. Our room was big and very clean. The property was in great condition and had been maintained to a very good standard. The bar area was full of locals which is always a good sign. The drinks were of average price and we enjoyed the atmosphere. We ate in the restaurant that night and the food and service were excellant. My husbands meal is one of his best from a 2 week holiday in Ireland. The breakfast was excellant - plenty of choice, plenty of food and really tasty. The Woodenbridge was a great start to our holiday - I cannot recommend it highly enough.

comments Hotel was pleasant and in a lovely location. Food was good and staff were very helpful without being over fussy. Bedroom was at back of hotel and quite dark as a result. Asked to be moved, but hotel was full. Member of staff took time to bring us across road to the Lodge to see if we wished to change room from Hotel to Lodge. Stay was good value for money. (Same CD of Irish ballads played at same time each morning is perhaps not the best accompaniment to breakfast!)

comments Beautiful old hotel set in the Wicklow mountains surrounded by beauty and countryside, nearby the breath taking Glendalough, amazing mountain climb where we saw deer and squirels and ducks in the lakes, which were so still showing mirror images of the forests and moutains that surround them. Truly one of the best places Ireland has to offer. Food and service in the Woodenbridge hotel were top class and great value. Highly recommend.

comments I don't remember if it was specifically mentioned at the time of my booking online, but I was not aware that I would not be staying in the hotel itself but rather the modern basic accomodation across the road. Unfortunately that put a little bit of a dampner on our stay as myh girlfriend was looking forward to staying in Ireland's oldest hotel. The room we did have in the Lodge was fine. Clean and had a good shower, which is what is to be expected for the price I paid. I would have been happier to stay in the main hotel I think, but all in all my stay was satisfactory

comments I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. I stayed in the lodge which is located just beside the main hotel. The room was very comfortable with all of the facilities you would get in the main hotel. The staff were extremely helpful and responsive. The hotel recently celebrated 400 years and when you sit in the bar or restaurant, the history of the place is visible all around. This really adds to the experience of staying there. The food was really very good. I stayed on a DBB rate and had dinner in the restaurant on one of the nights. It was a fabulous meal...exceptional quality and service. I can say the same for the bar food....great range in the menu and the quality of the food was of the standard of the restaurant. The location of the hotel is ideal. It is approx 4mins drive from Avoca, and near enough to some of the Wicklow highlights - Meeting of the Waters, Avondale House and the like. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel for exploring Wicklow county and its environs.

comments The hotel is beautiful and elegant and is set in lovely surroundings. The rooms, both public and private, are to the highest standard and the welcome from the gentleman in reception could not have been warmer. The bar staff, too were very friendly and helpful. The dinner that evening and the breakfast the following morning were execrable. Clearly the chef buys the cheapest food and has no idea how to cook it! Please do something about it as you have an otherwise perfect piece of heaven in the Woodbridge Hotel.

comments The building was lovely -- old-fashioned, while clean and comfortable -- the service friendly, the food in the bar good and the traditional musicians made our stay really special. Thank you.

comments Lovely hotel, slightly dated but homely. Our room was spacious, clean & confortable with views over the golf course & mountains There is no lift in the main hotel which guests with more limited mobility may find a problem. Without exception the staff were friendly & helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they really made our stay at the Woodenbridge so enjoyable. We enjoyed meals in the bar, which has a good reasonably priced menu & good food. Breakfasts were cooked to order and delicious! We hope to return again & would recommend the Woodenbridge.

comments I booked a suprise Valentines night away, which included a Falcon walk with Falconry Ireland, This was a great success with us both and we would recommend this to anyone. The meal and accommadation could not be faulted. The staff were very helpful and efficient and will look forward to staying again and spending some time in the wilds of wicklow and maybe bringing the children to see the BIRDS.

comments Lovely, old world hotel, great location, helpful staff. only problem was that we got a deal which included one dinner in the restaurant. We had bar food the first night and we're given the same options in the restaurant the second night for dinner (we are both vegetarians but still would have expected a different option in the restaurant). The food was good all the same.

comments Hotel is quiet and comfortable but very dated. Arrived to find we were actually staying in the lodge downhill and across the main road and car park, not in the hotel itself which was our original intention. They weren't willing to change this. Also, Had to have breakfast and meals in the main hotel so had to keep going back and forth across the busy road if we needed something from our room or to get something to eat. The restaurant in the main hotel had reopened thankfully (but Il Ruscello in the lodge remained closed) and the food was absolutely delicious and the staff friendly and helpful plus very reasonably priced.

comments This is our second stay at the hotel - we had originally booked a different date but had to change it - the hotel facilitated our request for a date change without quibble, which was much appreciated. The hotel was quiet during our stay - it was November so this was to be expected. The service was as excellent as before and the room was lovely and comfortable - great for the rate we were paying. We will be back in the New Year for a short break!

comments From the minute we arrived in Woodenbridge Hotel, we were treated to the utmost curtesy. Our room was was very clean with lots of space. There were lots of choices for breakfast and the cooked breakfast was cooked to order - not hours beforehand like in some hotels! I have already recommended Woodenbridge Hotel to friends. Bhí sé go h-an mhaith ar fad!
