Firstly, the staff were excellent, very friendly and accomodating.
There are varying ranges of rooms available at The Danby and I feel the hotel should differntiate between the rooms ie
premium larger rooms and the smaller, darker rooms.
The hotel is well situated just a few miles from Wexford and Rosslare and has nice gardens, lovely function rooms and "chalet rooms" ideal for guests joining a wedding party/private celebration etc. There have been recent refurbishments to the hotel - reception, bar and restaurant area but it needs the 'final touch' - the introduction of gilt mirrors or some period paintings/prints to enhance the minimalistic decor. Pictures along the stairs are dark and dreary and should be updated whilst floral arrangements and outdoor plant displays were very good.
Saturday night entertainment in the Lounge was very good but the crowds were small. Overall, I think this hotel needs further enhancement, just a few minor touches here and there but the friendly staff, ambience and good standard of food (ample proportions but weak on presentation) were good enough to entice me back for another stay. Probably more suited to mature couples but the function room and chalet accomodation make it an ideal spot for a wedding or major party.
