We had a great time at Cromlix House. We are two Australian friends who came on holidays seeking information about our own family history. Cromlix House allowed us to stay in The Scottish countryside and understand more about how our ancestors lived. The service was efficient and friendly, the food wonderful and the size of the rooms were amazing. We had a great time.

We had a fantastic meal for our sons graduation and a lovely evening. My husband and I stayed the night and our room was large with a comfortable sitting area with a front facing view of the very well kept grounds. The extra little touches in the room made us feel very special including the homemade shortbread, I only wish we had been able to stay for longer. Breakfast was all cooked to order with a superb menu offering some different alternatives to the normal bacon and eggs.

I loved my stay!
Cromlix couldn’t be more attentive
In fact they had a very good balance in catering to your every need – making you feel welcome and not harassing you at the same time!
Food was amazing and the public rooms are so comfortable and our suite had the ‘wow’ factor.

It was a delightful, relaxing and peaceful stay - despite the wild weather outside! But that leads on to my one criticism and big disappointment - no fires lit in the public rooms! An open fire makes one feel so much more at home (an expressed goal of Cromlix) at any time and would have been such a pleasure when the weather outside is so wild.

Please know we were overwhelmed by the professionalism of your staff, the upgrade in our accommodations, and the quality of the food. We spoke to, literally, almost everyone who works at Cromlix during our 2 1/2 day stay. We ran into "chef" as we were taking a walk and decided then and there what we were going to have that night at dinner due to his recommendations. Dinner was simply superb. As wine connoisseurs we were open to recommendations and your wait staff did just that recommending a wonderful red from languedoc. It was a wine we had for the first time then at Cromlix House and will always remember where we were when we drank it! We were directed the next night to a lovely place for dinner (Sheriffuir Inn) by staff. Earlier in the day we had picked up items for a picnic and decided to eat on you beautiful wrought iron furniture outside and staff quickly provided place settings for us. It was a "moment" as they say looking out at the beautiful garden and lawn. Our rooms were simply spectacular. We didn't want to leave actually. I was able to do reading in various rooms inside our suite of rooms as well as in the trophy room and your living room (drawing room?) downstairs. We took long walks each day with our daughter and friend (both 17 years old) and they went exploring each day. We have recommended Cromlix House now to all of our family members and friends. I'm a television producer in the United States and it is my hope that we will be back in the not to distant future.

This is a fantastic location for a secret little break. Staff are excellent and plenty of different lounge space to quietly read the paper. Lovely strolling opportunities in the grounds too. We had a fantastic room. Great mix of old, comfortable furniture with occassional modern twists.

A fundamental but important problem with Cromlix is trying to get anyone to answer the hotel telephone. Personal experience over the past seven years shows an approximate 70% fail rate. I know the hotel well and I know why this situation exists. But when, as happened during our recent stay, two members of our family tried contacting my wife who was celebrating her 70th Birthday, to wish her a Happy Birthday, one son tried "repeatedly" to get though without success. On the one occasion his call was accepted at the Hotel office/reception, he was informed that "We were out of the Hotel" which simply was not the case at all. And a daughter had great difficulty in contacting us also, resulting ultimately in the hotel allowing us to phone out at their expense. I suspect Cromlix is not a hotel in the more commonly accepted understanding of such commercial establishments but rather is run along the lines of a Country House where you approximate to an invited guest . However the hotel really should addess this "flaw" in an otherwise very pleasant establishment.

We were upgraded to an amazing suite free-of-charge (presumably they had rooms available). Staff were fantastic, food was incredible, and the whole experience was wonderful.
My only possible criticism was that service at breakfast time was a little slow, but the restaurant was busy then so it's understandable.
It was quite a pricey treat, but certainly worth it!

the house is situated in a middle of a vast estate,the service in the house from all staff is first class and set to very high standard and 10/10 for the meals.

Our stay at Cromlix far exceded our expectations. Our suite was very spacious and extremely comfortable. We could not fauld either our dinner or breakfast and the staff were friendly and helpful but unobtrusive. A magnifying mirror would have been welcomed in the bathroom by those of us whose eyesight is not a good as it once was. All in all, a memorable experience.

A charming hotel set in beautiful surroundings. Very comfortable rooms - the staff were friendly and the food in the restaurant delicious - certainly one of the best fillet steaks I have ever had and the rest of the menu was excellent. The breakfast was equally impressive - I would have no reservation in recommending this hotel to anyone and when in the area again we will certainly revisit.

Many thanks for making my parents ruby anniversary so special. From my first enquiry call to the moment we left the hotel the service was outstanding; the staff were all really helpful polite, efficient & friendly. The afternoon tea was fantastic with a great selection of cakes (the chocolate eclairs and lemon cake were particular hits!) and my parents had a great overnight stay in the Hotel and raved about the amazing suite, staff, dinner and breakfast as well. A big THANK YOU to everyone at the Cromlix....we'll no doubt be back and will certainly tell everyone how great Cromlix is.

Best things about Cromlix house;- real, fresh flowers in our room and real paintings, prints and memrobila on the walls; windows that open; sheets and blankets instead of duvetss; loved our bathroom; calm, happy, genuinely friendly but decreet staff, great furniture and wonderful decor; lots of places to sit and read; rabbits in the lawn; I think this is one of my favourite hotels! only complaint is that the fried eggs for breakfast were over cooked! I have visited this Hotel on 5 occasions over the past 2 years, usually with friends and colleagues to mark a retirement or special event. It has a wonderful location, with easy access from the central belt, and welcoming staff. I have been allocated different bedrooms each time and have looked in others occupied by friends. All are quite distinctive
with interesting quirks that make the experience of staying there different from other country house hotels. I am vegetarian and usually struggle to find other than the standard 'vegie' menu on offer, but the restaurant within the hotel is outstanding and meals have always been one of the highlights of my visits. I will return again before too long with another group of friends and I know I will not be disappointed.

The grounds were so remote and quiet as to provide the perfect oasis for those wishing to withdraw from the constant noise and hurly burly of 21st century living. This was a'friendly' house, in every respect, and that hit you as you drove up the long and beautifully tended avenue. Our stay was also, incidentally, excellent value.
