The Costa Dorada or 'Golden Coast' is spains equivelent to the lines of luxary hotels commonly associated with Miami , Florida. The city of Salou is situated at the southern end and the area consists of about 60 kilometers of fine white sandy beaches shared between a several large tourist hotel resorts situated between groves of trees and picturesque landscaping. Along with the more modern hotel resorts the area also encompass quaint spanish fishing villages and traditional spanish culture. This coast is brimming with outstanding beaches, beautifully manicured towns and hamlets and an intriguing history.
Although exciting nightlife, and secluded hideaways can be found the area also heaves during the summer with foot loose and fancy free young people of europe all packing into the hotels along the coast for some hard core youth fun.
However conversely Costa Dorada has become a well known family destination, with Salou and Cambrils as the main tourist centres.
Salou Hotels
Salou is a real sun sea and beach destination for the club 18 - 30 gang. It's a city of mass tourism with dozens of hotels, hostels, and apartement accommodations. Nearby Salou you'll find Port Aventura, a huge theme park which is Spains answer to Disneyland Paris.
Port Aventura is open from March until late October.
