comments Warm reception but sadly the room was slightly damp and the previous occupant a smoker who had flaunted the notices. Food honest, staff very helpful. Dreadful weather did not help
Hotel Response:

We are very sorry you did not enjoy your stay with us. We have checked the room and found no sign of dampness. Perhaps the non-stop rain we have had for the previous six weeks had caused an overall dampness everywhere! As for the smoker, I fully appreciate your complaint. We try everything within our power to stop people smoking in the building, but some people are just selfish. The weather I can do nothing about....!! Once again, very sorry you did not enjoy your stay.

comments One of the rooms was very small. There was a lot of noise from the ferry siren starting at 6.30 in the morning. Breakfast was not great - porridge cold and sausages very poor quality. Not particularly friendly or welcoming staff. Food in restaurant expensive and not particularly good. Ferry was surprisingly costly and mounted up.
Hotel Response:

We are sorry you did not enjoy your stay with us. Your comments have been noted. One small point, why did you mention none of this at the time of your stay and allow us to put right what you found so abhorrent? Why, when you were here, did you say everything was fine when it clearly was not? We are confused.......

comments Food was very poor; no local sea food was used. Organisation of the restaurant was not good.Ground floor bedroom meant curtains had to be drawn so the wonderful Loch view was obscurred.
Hotel Response:

Thank-you for taking the time to review our Inn. Your comments have been noted and actions taken to ensure better organisation of the restaurant. All our seafood is local, sourced from a reputable fish merchant in Mallaig.

comments We found the Inn by accident as a result of a bad review for a Fort William establishment and were directed to the Inn by other Trip Advisor recommendations. We are really glad we did, it did not disappoint. Our large room overlooked the loch and ferry. It was clean and comfortable. The breakfasts are superb. The best we have had anywhere. Freshly cooked using the very best quality food. The evening meals are good standard pub food but high quality. The menu doesn't change night on night and was OK for two evenings but not for three. The service is excellent our waitress Sammy always had a happy smile on her face. To get across the loch to the Inn you need to use the Corran car ferry. It is only 200 yards and the ferry is frequent. We had assumed it would cost £2-3 a trip but in fact it is £6.40 which adds up after a few days. We never had to queue but in summer I imagine you may have to. But don't let this put you off this is a wonderful and welcoming place to stay and our short break really recharged our batteries. If we return to this area we won't be looking elsewhere.

comments Superb hospitality, pub, dining and dinner food. Peaceful, halcyonic setting. Great way to visit Mull and Iona and see part of Scotland not typically seen. Barman very skilled at helping neophytes choose whisky. Read down to the last part about taking the ferry across the Loch so it is not a surprise. It is absolutely worth a 5 minute ferry ride to get to this scenic and isolated part of Scotland, where you will be treated royally.

comments The Inn was excellent. From driving off the ferry to stepping in the door of the Inn it felt like you where stepping back in time. Helpful, friendly staff made the whole experience very pleasant. Our room was small but perfectly formed with a stunning view. The small modern bathroom very clean with an excellent shower. We also ate in the restaurant and the food was simple but of a high quality. Give me this over any aneamic chain hotel anyday.

comments Getting to the Inn turned out to be quite a problem. Due to bad weather the ferry didn't run that day and there were no sign to warn us of this situation, only a nice gentlemen living nearby who saw us waiting and drove to the dock to warn us. So our 2 minutes ferry ride turned into a 62 km trip around the loch, including 32 km of single lane road in the pouring rain with a lot of on coming traffic. So much for the romance of sailing to the hotel... On arrival the room was only booked for 2 although I had booked a triple room, but that was quickly corrected. Food in the bar is very average and they were out of everything that interested us (ie everyhing not frozen). I would expect it to be better in the high season. Room was confortable and clean, however the ferry dock is just accross the street and it felt like it was docking at the foot of the bed. We could hear the alarm every time it would lower its ramp the next morning (it starts running around 5 AM). Very noisy also from all the delivery trucks and commuters driving on and off! Good, substantial breakfast and helpful staff.

comments I don't expect to wait for 1 hour for my cooked breakfast. The excuse that guests shouldn't all come to breakfast at the same time doesn't wash!
Hotel Response:

All our breakfasts are cooked fresh to order. No pre-cooking and re-heating is done. If twenty+ guests order breakfast within fifteen minutes (as happened on the morning of your stay), there will be delays. The longest wait on the morning of your stay was 46 minutes (all cooking orders are monitored for time and this forms a part of the kitchen staff bonus structure). This must have been you and I am sorry for the delay.

comments The setting is absolutely superb and bedrooms with unobstructed views of the Loch. Accommodation is fairly basic but relatively clean. Breakfast is plentiful with helpings to fill even the hungriest of people. Lively but small bar in the evenings. Not the best of nights sleep as we had a room next to a drunken quarrelling couple - not the hotels fault though. Staff very friendly and helpful.
