The Royal Marine Hotel was designed as a private home for a northern industrialist in 1913 by renowned Scottish architect Sir Robert Lorimer, who was also commissioned by the Duke of Sutherland to restore Dunrobin Castle, which had been ravaged by fire in 1915. The ambience of The Royal Marine Hotel owes everything to Sir Robert Lorimer: The wooden arches of the entrance hall; the formal dining room; the panelled snooker room, and the grand staircase all contribute to an atmosphere of quiet elegance. The Royal Marine is a traditional Country House Hotel retaining all of the elegance of a bygone era whilst still offering the quality and comfort expected by todays travellers together with a modern swimming pool and leisure club. There is a choice of 3 restaurants including an all day Café Bar, Bistro and award winning Dining Room , all serving the finest of Highland produce accompanied by an extensive Wine list and a great selection of Malt Whisky. After Dinner enjoy a dram of the local Clynelish Malt Whisky in front of a blazing log fire. The hote sits adjacent to James Braid's 18 hole links course at Brora and with easy access to nearby courses at Royal Dornoch, Golspie and Tain. The hotel also has two boats available for fishing on Loch Brora.
