Accommodation The area has the distinction of being one of only five Scottish beaches to have been awarded a blue flag; just one of the many attractions besides Edinburgh and the ancient Kingdom of Fife that makes Woodside your ideal base. The hotel was built in 1873 by the Greig brothers of Inverkeithing, whose family had connections with the Imperial Russian Navy. Original oil paintings of the Greig brothers will greet you as you arrive in the reception area The hotel has undergone a series of thorough and sympathetic refurbishments, the latest being a complete refurbishment in 1995. The work done then, costing almost one million pounds, makes The Woodside one of the most comfortable hotels in the area - and only 30 minutes away from heart of historic Edinburgh. Historic Aberdour: nestling in front of the soft folds of the Fife hills, facing the coast of the Firth of Forth and Edinburgh beyond. Once a Victorian playground of the wealthy, Aberdour is now a genteel and traditional Fife fishing village, and a retirement haven for Edinburgh professionals. Aberdour is convenient for Edinburgh, with a 30-minute train journey across the world famous Forth Bridge into the very heart of Scotland's capital city. The village of Aberdour has fine beaches, a 13th Century castle, one of the prettiest railway stations in Britain and a picturesque old harbour. In summer the Aberdour Festival provides a wealth of cultural delights and attracts visitors worldwide. Along the shore are pleasant walks to neighbouring Burntisland and Dalgety Bay. Aberdour is the ideal place to stay for both business people and holidaymakers alike! We hope you enjoy the following guide to just a few of the exciting activities in our locale. How to get there: On travelling South on the M90 take Junction 1 slip road and follow the signs for the A921 Kirkcaldy. Keep following the signs for Dalgety Bay/Burntisland. When entering the village the hotel is on the lefthand side directly after the garage. The carpark is at the rear of the building. On travelling North over the Forth Road Bridge take Junction 1 (second slip road after the bridge signposted Dalgety Bay/Inverkeithing) Follow the signs for the A921 Kirkcaldy/Burntisland. The hotel is on the left on entering the village
