We had a fabulous one-night stay at the Lands of Loyal in late August 2011. Having forgotten to state whether we wanted a double or twin room on the booking form, we were a little disappointed when the door to our room opened to show twins: then delighted to discover there was also a double in the linked bedroom! It would have been a perfect family room, and we will bear that in mind for the future. The hotel is comfortable, peaceful and relaxing, and provided a very good breakfast in the morning. We'll definitely be back.

My parents and I were warmly welcomed and spent a lovely evening by the fire, prior to which we received a wonderful whiskey lesson from our gracious host. I would most definitely stay again. Thank you!

As always genial greeting, comfortable well appointed room. If you can get one with the view over the Strathmore valley, perfect. Large hall with log fire, excellent for an aperitif or after dinner coffee, or better still afternoon tea. Both dinner and breakfast very enjoyable, with local produce. Staff friendly and attentive without being invasive, a tranquil country house.

Hotel is in a lovely setting and the rooms are large and welcoming. Food was excellent. I must comment on the excellent service from the all the staff. In particular the two young members of staff serving in the restaurant were extremely friendly, professional and helpful.

I booked this as an anniversary surprise for my wife after she was had been told 2 years ago by a wedding photographer that this was the nicest wedding venue that he had visited. We found an original country house in a lovely setting, high standard of food at the evening meal and an all round lovely treat after 17 years of marriage for us both. We hope to be back soon, with our children next time. Old world chique.

Our stay was a wonderful 3 nights. The food was excellent, the room was excellent with a lovely view over to the Sidlaw hills and the antics and aerobatics of the house martins, swifts and swallows were superb. A much enjoyed break away from it all. A very relaxing atmosphere and a beautiful setting.
I certainly would recommend this hotel.

Our stay was most enjoyable with a comfortable room, first class, imaginatively prepared food and pleasant, polite service. I was a little surprised that the hotel could not absolutely guarantee us a double room: this almost dissuaded me from booking, which would have been a great pity, since we would have missed out on a most excellent hotel.
In the end we were pleased that the hotel had responded to our request and placed us in a double room with a fine four poster bed.
All in all a hotel to which we would be most happy to return.

We had a wonderful time last month and the Beef in the restaurant is one of the finest I have ever tasted. Worth the trip for that alone. The only small point is the house wines need some attention as they can do better in this area. The red & whites are a little bland.
A great hotel in a super setting and would without hesitation recommend it to anyone. We will certainly return if we can do so. Only wish it was not 400 miles from home!!

A warm welcome, a genuinely relaxed atmosphere, and very good kitchen in a lovely garden hilltop setting. The Victorian charm is combined with WiFi and flat panel TVs plus a lovely country house. We were totally pleased and surprised!

We returned to the Lands of Loyal after some time: 35 years ago we had our Wedding lunch here. We were delighted to find a warm & welcoming atmosphere and our visit revived many happy memories. The traditional country house hotel decor remained along with the cosy log fire in the magnificent marble fireplace. Our room was preserved in the past but the facilities were modern,& the bed & pillows were so comfy.
We hope to return one day with our 3 adult children to treat them to bed, breakfast & a delicious dinner.

Excellent hotel. Staff were friendly, welcoming and very helpful with my dietary requirements. The food was delightful. Room wasn't huge, but this was largely due to the fab four-poster bed. The lobby/lounge area was a delightful and warm place to spend the evening with the other guests by a log fire and yet also felt relatively secludedand peaceful. We'll certainly be back!
