Mary Hughes is the perfect hostess in a wonderfully located B&B with a magnificent view and beautiful gardens. Mary is very knowlegable of points of interest in the County Mayo area and is eager to make your stay memorable. We have stayed with her on two ocasions and plan to stay with her again on future trips to Ireland.

Hotel Response:

Thanks for the review Bill. It was a pleasure to have both of you as always. Mary

We had the pleasure of staying at Mary's lovely Rockville Guesthouse during August 2011. The location and views are fantastic and the welcome extended upon our arrival was so warm and friendly we didn't want to leave! We would recommend Rockville without hesitation and will definitely be back when we return to the West of Ireland. Thank you so much Mary for your kind hospitality, we loved it. Brendan, Janet and Ciara.

We experienced a very warm welcome at Rockville Guesthouse!!!! It is a little off the beaten track, but a wonderful starting point for trips around Westport. Mary, our hostess, gave us the best tips for sightseeing and made us feel home away from home. Thank you, Mary, for a great stay at your house!

The breakfast was good but the house felt empty and quiet and a little unwelcoming.

Beautiful place to have a stay. Mary Hughes is a wonderful host, and offered me some great advice in climbing Crough Patrick! Hire a walking stick!!! The breakfast was excellent and hot. I loved the relaxed atmosphere and the front porch view of the valley is tremendous. I enjoyed a cup of coffee sitting outside on the deck. It was a wonderful close to a long day. I plan to stay again, and definitly will pass along Rockville as a place to stay.

advertised as a guest house but very definitely a bed and breakfast within someone's home, this could make for some feelings of discomfort; however the hostess was extremely welcoming.

My husband and I spent two nights at the Rockville Guesthouse in May 2011. When traveling in Ireland we highly recommend this B & B. The setting is unbelievably beautiful. The house was comfortable and clean and the breakfast was delicious. At this B & B there is a menu of breakfasts to choose from which we found not to be the case at another B & B. When staying more than one night it is nice to be able to vary the morning meal. Hostess, Mary Hughes, was more than hospitable and very helpful with suggestions as to what to see during our stay in Westport. We highly recommend this Guesthouse.

This B&B was excellent. Very clean and the breakfasts were great. Mary really went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Even offered to do some ironing for me. Really went above the call of duty. Highly recommend

We have no hesitation in recommending 'Rockville' to any visitor to this lovely area. The house is set on a hillside above a lovely garden, and has been designed to make the most of extensive views from the mountains of Mweelrae to the south, Croagh Patrick to the west and the Achill Peninsular to the northwest. Rockville is modern, comfortable, beautifully decorated and spacious with choice of breakfast food that is superb. Its position under 2 miles from Westport is ideal, being rural yet less than 5 minutes drive from the town. Best of all, the owner, Mary, takes a genuine interest in her guests, and is happy to share her knowledge of the history and way of life of the area where her family have lived for generations. she is a charming and helpful hostess who deserves great success in the B&B business.

We really enjoyed this bed and breakfast! It had an absolutely fabulous view and the owner was extremely welcoming and hospitable. We were able to walk into town if we needed to and it was nice to be able to get out of the hustle and bustle when we wanted to. The room had lots of space and the food was fantastic. We felt right at home!
