When I arrived I struggled up the big stone steps to reception. The lady receptionist was very pleasant but did not tell me that I did not need to bring my case up the last 4 or 5 steps as I could have saved myself some effort and left the case next to the lifts, which I did not see at first. Everything was very nice. The bed was very comfortable. Room very clean. Breakfast buffet very nice. I was not offered tea or coffee. Coffee was simply poured. Coffee was nice. Was very disappointed that the pool did not open until 12 noon. I only had a couple hours free time in the morning before my meeting and so I had no where to relax in the lovely August Madrid sunshine before I had to leave. Weather in UK was bad but there was no sunshine on any area on the smoking terrace. No sun except poolside, which I could only look at longingly from my room. When I left the next morning the male receptionist was very pleasant. 3 members of staff, all male, stood by and watched me, did not speak, or offer assistance of any kind, as I struggled down the big stone steps with my rather heavy suitcase. The case actually fell down the last few steps with a big crash and still no one moved or spoke, so I was very disappointed at this lack of care or concern by the staff.

The rooms were excellent and the location was very good for us. The entrance to the hotel is not easy to find (we arrvied at the Charmatin train station) and we had to caryy heavy cases up a flight of steps into the hotel. The staff were helpful but not very friendly. The cost of the breakfast is rather high (14.5 Euros).

Our room was lovely, and quite a pleasant surprise as we'd stayed at a "5-star" hotel for most of our stay in Madrid, and it was nowhere as lovely as what we had at the Trp Centro Notre.
Only three suggestions:
01. Make the lobby more accessible for people with heavy luggage. Carrying our luggage up the stairs was an ordeal;
02. Some better way to identify hotel. We took the metro to Chaumartin the day before to check out the hotel, so on the day we checked in, our taxi driver took us to the Centro Norte Apartments, and we had to instruct him it was the next road;
03. Include a bath mat in the bath tub. It was slippery and I suffered a bruised elbow and portion of my back, when I slipped.
Other than that, the hotel was wonderful, with courteous service, wonderful amenities, and the most comfortable bed!
