When we arrived the surrounding area seemed a little dirty, but during our stay we didn't feel unsafe and the hostel had locks and felt secure. Our room was so much bigger than we expected; it had an ensuite bathroom, a double bed, TV, and an extra single bed as well as a small balcony and cupboards/bedside tables. It was very nice and spacious. Breakfast was not included (we knew that before booking) but the price was reasonable and the location is not too far from Puerta del Sol. There is a metro station nearby (Noviciado) so it is easy to get around to wherever you want to go.

The location is in an area full of coffee shops and restaurants, with lots of life. The hostel is clean and tidy. The walls and ceilings are a bit thin, so you can hear your neighbours. But it's cheap and cheerful, so it's ok for 1 or 2 nights. (A tip on getting into the building : it is difficult to see which bell you need to press, on the door. But just keep looking - the bell is there.... ("Azul Hostel"). Once you are let inside, go up the stairs, one floor, and the woman will greet you).

	A great location in the middle of 3 subway stations, and right in the centre. Room was comfortable, good air conditioning, and breakfast right next door!

Hostal Pez Azul was great in many ways: an ambient location, a small but very clean room, extremely friendly and helpful staff, however the big but was the noise level. As the hostal shares a building with other residents, people would traipse up and down the stairs all night: making noise from midnight until the early hours of the morning. Although I really liked the hostal for the first mentioned reasons, the noise levels would put me off ever staying again. If you don't need your sleep and want budget accommodation, this is the place for you.

	The hostel was clean, contemporary overholed well furnished with new furniture and fantasy. Very kind and attentive staff. Only one remark - there is not hairdryer.

El hostal del Pez Azul superó mis espectactivas en todo sentido. La ubicación es comodísima y resulta muy fácil llegar a pie hasta puntos como la Plaza Mayor, la Plaza España y la Fuente de Cíbeles, además de encontrarse muy cerca de la Gran Vía. La habitación era muy cómoda, lo suficientemente espaciosa para 3 personas ya que mi reserva era base triple y super limpia. La atención de la dueña, la Sra. Ángela, merece un comentario aparte, nos trató muy bien en todo momento y nos hizo sentir en confianza y como en casa.

	Estaban de obras y había ruidos y polvo, aunque intentaban no molestar. Tomamos una habitación triple, pero nos dieron una doble y metieron una cama, por lo que estábamos muy apretados. Ni la habitación ni el baño se parecían a los de las fotos de la web del hostal.

	Angela, (la dueña) es demasiado agradable, muy atenta, tenía todo listo y dispuesto, todo muy limpiecito, excelente tamaño del cuerto, y tambien del baño. Además es un hostal central, a metros de la Plaza España y a 15 minutos caminando del Palacio Real

Don't be put off by the entrance which is unassuming in the extreme; inside the building is in good repair and the Hostal is clean and well maintained. The owners only speak a little English but are friendly and helpful. The Hostal is 5 minutes walk from the nearest Metro station, Callao, in an interesting, very Spanish area with many bars and restaurants. A red light area is very close but the area was unthreatening and lone women wandered through it seemingly unperturbed. Only slight downside was that the walls were rather thin and there was some noise from adjacent rooms.

Nous avons été extrêmement déçus à notre arrivée parce que la chambre était plutôt une chambre pour une personne : le lit faisait peut-être 1m30 et était disposé contre le mur. Le lavabo se trouvait dans la chambre et la salle de bain avec douche et WC était minuscule. Heureusement, la dame était fort gentille et nous a donné pour les 3 autres nuitées une chambre triple avec balcon. L'hostal se trouve dans un quartier fort tranquille de Madrid.

hostel Pez was a very clean and tidy en suite. Were requested a double bed and were give a twin room and advise to push the beds together. I woke up on the slippy floor twice. Not a problem really but I think a double room request is pot luck. A sacrifice worth making for the tranquility of the rooms. No street noise at all in an otherwise noisy area. I would go back for the money, clean and quiet, what more do you want. be prepared to communicate in Spanish.

	Muy limpio, buena situacion, habitacion tranquila. El problema es que no habia agua caliente, solo tibia y era dificil ducharse. Quizas no sea problematico en verano pero en invierno si.

	The hostal is simple, cozy, clean and secure though a little noisy. It is near to everything. I stayed there for 9 nights and I recommend people to stay there.

	el hostal luce muy limpio y ordenado, sus dueños son muy atentos y cordiales., lo único que no nos agrado fue el acceso al hostal , el cual es como un poco recondito, ya que esta en una callecita que tiene como un mal aspecto.. por lo demás..

Very good value for money. Very clean and tidy rooms. The owner was a pleasant and friendly woman. The neighbourhood looked a bit rough to start with, but after a day or so we found it to be very friendly and nice. Several great bars and theaters made it lively, but our room were quiet. We had a great , newly refurbished bathroom, but be prepared that the walls are thin and the beds are squeaky :-)

	The room was clean and very nice with 3 good beds, air-con and a nice en-suite bathroom with a washing line running over to the next building so you could dry your towels or swimming gear ready for the next day. Friendly staff and an alright location near to a tube station. Recomended.

	Just as I'd read here when I booked, people are nice and the place is very clean, really. Well situated, with competitive fare. Don't forget your earplugs, though: the walls are so thin ! I didn't hear any noise from the street at night, just other guests coming and going at 7AM (like in any other 'pension' indeed).

	The housekeeper was very friendly and welcoming (with a little English!) The room plus en-suite were small but comfortable and clean. Well within walking distance of some beautiful parts of Madrid's centre and very convenient for the Metro. Certainly suitable for a place to lay your head!

	The entrance to the building leaves quite a bit to be desires, however the hostal on the 2 nd floor was clean and welcoming. I had a new bathroom, though very small. There is an internet- phone store accross from the hostal, a bar next door, a supermarket, convenience store and a good restaurant at the end of the street.

	Hostal Pez Azul was extremely clean and its location was perfect. But the walls are very very thin so it was always loud. If you want to ever sleep undisturbed or be without irritating noises constantly, bring ear plugs. Even with all the noise, I would stay here again, because it is hard to find such a clean room/bathroom. The senora cleaned and changed the sheets daily, also!

	Demasiado ruido, el teléfono fijo no dejaba descansar tranquilamente. Creo que deberias plantearos cambiarlo de ubicación. La linea de internet que prometias, muy difícil de cojer. También deberias comentar que no teneis apenas cobertura de móvil. La televisión no se podía ver. Las habitaciones muy bien y trato correcto.

	La habitación del Hostal Pez Azul me ha gustado mucho, limpia, cama comoda, y muy de agradecer el aire acondicionado, no es muy habitual en este tipo de establecimientos. La situación del Hostal es perfecta para moverse a pie por el centro sin necesidad de utilizar el coche, como recurso hay Metro cerca.
