comments The room was very small, with only one window opening into a central "courtyard" that wasn't and therefore not very well ventilated. It was clean and comfortable and would be OK for young people who were only looking for somewhere to sleep. It was, however, very central and close to transport and amenities and within in walking distance of a number of attractions: Plaza Mayor, the Arab Baths, Palace Real, etc. and we found an excellent Chinese restaurant literally around the corner. There was also an excellent Indian Restaurant at Plaza Mayor only 5 minutes walk away and an internet cafe also just around the corner where service was good.

comments The hotel is located in an excellente area, just 50 meters from Puerta del Sol. It was very quite also, at least with noise from outside although the noise made inside the building could be heard in your room, probably thin walls. Also, the main door in the hallway didn't close properly and would slam with a big noise everytime someone was coming in or out. We stayed there for 7 nights and it was never fixed. The furniture was very poor but probably that's what you normally get for that price in that location. The staff was very friendly though.

comments Hostal muy bien situado y muy cerca del comercio, metro y transportes. Limpio, aunque a veces son pequeñas sus habitaciones, pero esta bien en general. Sus administradores siempre fueron muy amables. El precio muy favorable. En la proxima ocasión que vuelva a Madrid lo buscaré para alojarnos nuevamente.

comments It was satisfactory, and good value. The walls could be a little thicker, though. Sound-proofing was abysmal. Fortunately, we were on the quiet side of the hostel, but even then we were often disturbed by people talking and children laughing in other rooms. Mike and Sveta Riyadh

comments Ubicación inmejorable. Hostal muy tranquilo ubicado en la tercera planta del edificio con ascensor. El trato con el personal muy correcto. Limpieza de habitación y cambio de toallas a diario. Mi habitación era exterior, con carpintería de aluminio, por lo que no entraba nada de ruido. Buena relación calidad/precio.

comments Muy céntrico y muy limpio. No he visto habitación más silenciosa en un hostal que la que me tocó, detalle muy importante para mí y para el descanso durante las dos noches que pasé. Pero lo mejor no fue éso, sino la excelente atención que recibí. Repetiré sin dudarlo.

comments El hostal esta super centrico. Es limpio. Hay gente para atenderte las 24 horas del día. El precio es barato, asi que la valoracion final teniendo en cuenta su localizacion es de 10. No creo que nadie encuentre algo mas barato y con tan buena pinta cerca del centro. RECOMENDACION TOTAL

comments La habitacion era pequena pero confortable, el aire acondicionado funciono perfecto. Nos toco una habitacion excelente en cuanto al ruido, ya que era muy silencioso por la noche. La ubicacion fue perfecta para nosotros. Saludamos a Carlos en la recepcion el cual fue muy atento. Nosotros recomendamos este hostal.

comments I spent over a month here, and I would definitely recommend Hostal El Pilar to anyone planning a trip to Madrid. It has an excellent location, right by the Puerta del Sol and the Sol metro station (There's actually a Metro exit/entrance right on Calle Carretas, where the Hostal is located), with many stores and restaurants nearby. It's also very close to the Gran Via, the Calle Mayor, and Calle Alcala. It has great air conditioning and the shower had really good water pressure and there was always hot water available. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. You can also pay with a credit card and they can charge your account in U.S. dollars, that way you can avoid paying a foreign currency mark-up on your credit card bill. I highly recommend this Hostal and would stay there again during future trips to Madrid.

comments For a 2 star hotel, price-wise its good! Location is fantastic, surrounded by shops, restaurants, clubs/bars, everything is walking distance including the underground (1 min walk).Gets a little noisy during the night. I had a triple room and it was clean and also had a small balcony, however the shuttle was half jamed. Unfortunantly my friends who also had a triple room said their room smelt damp! so i think it depends how lucky you get and which room you actually get!

comments l'hôtel est très bien situé en plein centre de madrid. La chambre est propre et rénovée. Par contre, elle est très petite et très chaude bien qu'il faisait pas chaud à l'extérieur. En plus le lit est très inconfortable.
