comments very helpful welcoming staff room basic but cheery and clean - was there in November so noise outdside not really a problem although bizarrely Sunday night/Monday morning seemd busier We were 40+ couple with teenage kids and found it central, slightly alternative and great local food and nightlife

comments I stayed in the hostal for three nights and had such a good time in Madrid! The hostal was really clean and the beds were comfy. There was a nice character to the rooms instead of the clinical white hotel rooms that are usually on offer. It was very good value, excellently situated and the staff were very helpful. Will def recommend this place to my friends.

comments a parte i simpatici tre-quattro piani di scale, i ragazzi e le signorine della reception sono simpatici, gentili e danno ottimi consigli su dove andare a mangiare in economia e spasso! per quant riguarda il servizio: sono ambienti accoglienti, puliti e il cambio lenzuola e asciugamani è ogni due giorni!anche i prezzi sono molto interessanti quidi, fatevi forza per le scale, ma poi approfittate di questo posto!

comments Pessoal bem simpático e atencioso. Apesar de antigo é bem arrumadinho. O local é um pouco complicado de se achar, a rua é bem desconhecida, mas indo pela Gran Via é fácil. As escadas pra subir é que matam a gente, muito ruim.

comments This was a charming hostel. It was right in the heart of the gay area which there was lots do do. Walking distance to all major landmarks and restaurants. The staff is great... I recommend this hostal to those who want an affordable and comfortable stay..

comments The hostel was very nice - the rooms were very clean and the staff was very hospitable, always willing to help. The price was the best thing about this hostel and we got very good quality for what we paid for. The only negative experience was the other guests who were extremely loud but that happens. The hostel was perfectly situated and it was very easy to get around the city. Overall, it was a good experience and I would recommended to anybody.

comments I stayed 2 nights in the AC curzon but slept better inthe Dolce Vita, it was like going back in time to my box room as a teenager brightly coloured room with big bold pictures basic but nice.

comments El hostal es una mezcla de pension humilde con suelo y paredes de madera, con decoracion pop de hotel de diseño, y el esfuerzo por crear una atmosfera distinta es muy de agradecer. El rellano del hostal, decorado con algun mueble pop y cuadros de "la dolce vita" de Fellini, ya es acogedor. El baño esta añadido dentro de la misma habitacion con mamparas de plastico semiopaco, esta bien aunque no sea demasiado intimo. Los chicos que atienden en la recepcion, exquisitamente amables. Una delicia.

comments Very nice hostel in an old Madrilenian house. Clean hostel and very hospitable people! The beds were als very good and you're in the heart of the Chueca quarter with a lot of nice restaurants, cafes and shops. The hostel is not far from attractions, like the Prado Museum. The only thing I was less satisfied about, was the 'open' shower in the bedroom. You had to open the window to get the room totally dry after you took a shower. But, in general, i think it is a very nice hostel and i would really recommend it to other visitors to the city of Madrid. Dante de Laat (the Netherlands)

comments El hostal no está mal. Está limpio y tiene un bonito decorado. Lo que da un poco que hacer, son las escaleras hasta el quinto piso, sin ascensor. Además el desayuno podría ser algo mejor, lamentablemente no hay variedad. De todos modos, las instalaciones son limpias y el personal muy atento. Hemos disfrutado de la estancia.

comments Llegue a las cuatro de la tarde y no pude entrar a la habitacion, ni siquiera a dejar las cosas. Al dia siguiente tuve que salir a las 12, no os creais que me dejaron quedarme hasta las 16! Ña habitacion era muy estrecha y no tenia ni armario. No hay sitio a penas para moverse:

comments Das Hotel ist super gelegen und für den Preis mit Sicherheit eine gute Alternative. Wer jedoch bei Frühstück an Brötchen mit Wurst und Käse denkt, wird enttäuscht sein. Kaffee, heißes Wasser und heiße Milch ohne Ende, für den Magen jedoch nur eine kleine Packung Kekse. Ebenfalls sollte man bei einer Buchung eines Doppelzimmers darauf gefasst sein, seinen Mitreisenden eventuell näher als beliebt kennenzulernen. In unserem Zimmer gb es leider keine Abgrenzung zwischen Bad und Bett.

comments Lo único que vale la pena es la decoración. Un tercero sin ascensor, sin aire acondicionado, desayunas en la salita junto a la recepción y la puerta, la tele de la habita se veía verde y el baño compartido es minúsculo. Si vais, mejor que sea invierno que al menos hay calefacción.

comments The hostel is fantastically located between Gran Via and Chueca. A few steps nearer Gran Via and I'm sure it would be more expensive so its great value for money. Rooms basic but clean and staff helpful and accommodating. One of the guys carried my 22kg case up the six flights of stairs. Breakfust included was fine for what I paid. as much coffee and juice as you wanted a two pre-packed madeleines. Plenty of hot water and internet access. I have recommended it to people already.

comments great hostel! in the centrum, rooms are funny, nice furniture, cleaning every day, celan towels. breakfast: juice, cafe, some biskit and other prepacked cookies. one morning there was cornflakes too, so not continental breakfast, but ok :) u have to leave the key at the recepcion if u go out, but it was not a problem for us. important: it is in the gay district, so there is a lot of young people, gay bars etc. otherwise in the hostel u can not hear the people, so it is great. would go back to that hostel defenetely.

comments The location of the hotel was great. My room was very clean, the bed very comfortable and the shower was terrific. However, the lock to my door did not lock and the tv did not work. The breakfast was a packaged stale cake.

comments the hostel was fantastic! it was really more of a hotel. had own attached bathroom which had a window that looks up to the skies. our room was beautiful and the corridors were beautifully lit by heart shaped lamps! there are no lifts though so if u hv lots of baggage, it will be pretty bad. cuz its on the 5th floor. we were lucky enough that the receptionist helped with our baggage!24 hours receptionist so its good!

comments Having read some of the previous reviews I was unsure as to what to expect. The hostal was in an excellent location and near to all the main sights.The room was clean and cleaned every day.I had a single and there was ample space. The communal toilet/shower was clean, the shower was lovely and hot. The breakfast was an added bonus. All the staff were friendly. I have travelled extensively and for the location and price I could not fault this place. I would definately stay here again

comments ottimi il rapporto qualità prezzo e la posizione. Edificio modesto ma camere dignitose e pulite. Le stanze singole con bagno in camera hanno doccia, lavabo e vater nella stanza, intendendo che non sono divisi con una porta dal vano abitativo, ma lo spazio è ben sfruttato e la zona letto risulta comunque vivibile. Colazione inclusa; disponibili latte caldo e freddo, caffè, tè, cacao, merendine confezionate assortite. Personale disponibile ed ambiente giovanile, vivamente consigliabile se non cercate lo sfoggio.

comments The hostal was clean and the room was a good size. I found the atmosphere a little strange. I know it´s part of their theme, but the whole place (reception, hallways, rooms) was dimly lit and the main lights in my room were red and came from flower lamps mounted behind the bed. I wouldn´t go out of my way to recommend the place to someone, but it´s fine for it´s price and location.

comments Hostel was centrally located, right in the Chueca neighborhood. It's kind of kitchy--pink and red walls, but the important thing is it was very clean and the staff, despite not speaking much English, were very nice and helpful. This hostel was a great value--we stayed in a private double room without a bathroom, and my only gripe would be that we had to walk across the lobby to get to the toilet and shower. If our room had been closer to it I would give a 5/5. I would stay there again if I go back, for sure. It was about $50/night, I dont think we could have found something as central, clean, and comfortable as La Dolce Vita.

comments all ok. the design of the hostel is nice. the personal too. the room was very small but clean. only the smell of the toilett (in the room) was a little uneasy. todo ok. el diseño de la hospedaje es bueno.. el personal es amable. el cuarto estaba muy pequeno pero limpio. solo el olor del baño (en el cuarto) mi molestó un poquito. alles ok. das design der herberge ist geschmackvoll. das Personal freundlich. das zimmer war klein aber sauber, Nur der geruch vom klo (im Zimmer) hat ein bisschen gestört.

comments The Dolce Vita is just of the Grand Via within the heart of Madrids lively social district. It?s an easy wlak from Chueca or Grand Via Metro stations. The hostal is in a great location for those wishing to enjoy the nightlife, as well as a perfect base to explore this wonderful citys cultural delights. Don?t stay here if you want silence and tranquillity! The Hostal is up four flights of stairs and there is no lift (but you can stop for a seat and a rest in the various landings should you feel the need!). The room we had was basic, but clean and with a wonderful en-suite shower room. The staff were always polite and helpful. Not all of them spoke English but you can have fun with gestures and ?spanglais?! All said, we would certainly recommend The Dolce Vita for those on limited incomes who wish to indulge in Madrids nightlife!

comments Some of the employers were so loud at night, I had to ask them to be silent. The beds were really not very good. Day 2 the shower was under repair, there was no water, and day three, the toilet broke down. I've seen much better.

comments Nous avons passé 3 nuits dans une chambre avec 2 lits une place et un coin salle d'eau (et pas salle de bain). De manière générale, le séjour à Hostal Dolce Vita a été agréable. Hostal Dolce Vita est très bien placé (proche du centre de Madrid à pied et proche d'une bouche de métro). La chambre était aussi très calme avec chauffage (il commençait à faire un peu froid). Par contre, on a été très déçus de l'apparence de la chambre (par rapport aux photos présentées sur le site internet). En effet, même si l'état global de la chambre était bien et propre, elle était moins jolie que sur les photos du site et le coin douche faisait un peu "peur": les portes de la cabine de douche ne tenaient pas et, le pire, était la moissure qui "tapissait" tout le plafond de la douche. Enfin, il ne fallait pas être trop grand, car le coin toilette était minuscule. Mais bon, vu que l'on ne passe pas la journée dans la chambre, cela convenait très bien quand même.

comments The place look very nice and clean. The staff very friendly and helpful as well as guests. The location is easy access to metro station and walking distance the the sights. Please be more careful about your luggage(s) since the hostal is on the 4th floor and no elevator. This is not complain but just FYI for the others. I had a great time there.

comments it´s really in the middle of madrid and the gay scene as well... the rooms are nice and individual. I had a double room with ensuite ... to the backside and it was a very quite room although you could hear everything trough the wall and door... the breakfast are hardly deserves that name... instantcoffee and prepacked biscuits ...thats it... the staff was quiet desinterested and from 5 nights.. i got a bewildered exchange from the towels a the 5 night for the first time... no thanks - no smile - no conversation... just money-grubbing... but to be honest i think it was one of the better places in madrid... next time i will top up little money and will go to another place... however the interior was really nice

comments Although I felt the hostal was of good value and the staff were friendly and helpful (they did not even charge me for usage of the internet, albeit I was only on for a couple of minutes) there were 2 negative points. I was told that breakfast ends at 11am, however at 10.40am there were no hot water to make tea with, and it was indicated that it will not be refilled. Also, I returned from my first day out to find that my bed have been tidies up, but my door was left unlocked, which was not very good for security reasons as I had my passport and some money in the room.

comments La verdad es que me ha encantado el servicio, la atención de su personal, la ubicación y sobre todo la seguridad que alli tienen para con las pertenencias y propiedades de sus clientes. Un ambiente muy tranquilo, la ubicacion inmejorable en pleno corazon de Madrid, con todo a la mano, desde el ocio, lugares de interes turistico, vida noturna y muy buena comunicacion al aeropuerto de Barajas. comments I didn´t expect much from a hostel but the room was fantastic, comfortable and cleaned daily. The staff were very friendly and helpful and, although I was only staying for a few days, you could easily stay there for a week or two week long holiday. There is Internet access and Wifi available and it is very near to Chueca station and Gran Via, where there are lots of good shops.

comments è il secondo anno in cui sono tornata all'ostello. La posizione è assolutamente straordinaria, nel bel mezzo di Chueca il quartiere alternativo e pieno di vita di Madrid. Molto consigliato alle coppie, l'arredamento è davvero carino e l'atmosfera molto rossa. Sconsigliato alle persone anziane o con problemi motori, non c'è l'ascensore e le scale di legno sono tutte storte e scivolose. Posso dirvi con tutta sincerità che se dovessi nuovamente tornare a Madrid non esiterei sulla scelta!

comments The whole experience, overall ,was great. Great location,great value for money, friendly staff, clean room, what else you need? I stayed in one bedroom on-suite. I liked the all finishing touches like paintings on the wall and little rug and the curtain, all in perfect harmony. The best feature was, that I had a little (shared) balcony. The view was great also. Little niosy over the weekend, but I guess you are there to enjoy Spanish way of life, right?:) The worst thing was, that there is some sort of construction going on in the whole building, and it is a little bit dusty going three floors up. Other than that, I am happy guest. I would recommend for weekend breaks.

comments Very good pirice quality ratio, rooms are basic but a lot of effort is put in decorating them. Breakfast is basic but that is normal for this price. Only bathroom and shared showers need better maintenance. But in general, worth the money. Extremely helpful staff: we needed anther rom for one night the week after. comments L'hôtel Dolce Vita offre un bon rapport qualité prix. le personnel est sympa, la déco est soignée et très "romantique", les chambres sont grandes et l'ensemble est très propre. L'hôtel est bien situé en centre-villeet par rapport aux monuments (près du paseo del prado, de gran via...), dans un quartier très animé en particulier le soir. Les points négatifs: chambres assez bruyantes (donnant sur la rue très fréquentée le soir), hôtel au 4ème étage (il faut grimper! donc difficile quand on est chargé, âgé ou handicapé), et le ptit déj est frugal (jus de fruits, boisson chaude, corn flakes et biscuits secs).

comments Muy buena situación geográfica, para moverte por la ciudad. La limpieza y el servicio correcto. Lo peor, la nada insonorización de las paredes q t hacen perder la intimidad. Recomendado si buscas algo céntrico y barato para salir del paso. Si eres un poco exigente...mas bien busca otra cosa, pero es general la relacion calidad precio está bastante bien para los precios que habían por los hoteles de Madrid.

comments Location was great and the room had everything required. The staff were very friendly even with my poor Spanish. The breakfast could have been better and sharing one pillow was a pain. However, for a one-two night stay it hit the spot. The love hearts along the walls were cool.

comments The hotel is very clean and I enjoyed the staying. Except they forgot to renew the towel, toilet paper and soap. Any way they apologised. Receptionnists were very nice but they should make effort for speaking in english. I strongly recommend this hotel (very clean, nice breakfat and very polite receptionnist)

comments The hostal ansd decor was amazing for the price. The only disappointment was the fact that there was building walk being carried out from 8.30am which woke me up every morning. This however was not the hostal's fault though it affected my stay

comments Chambre amusante mais petite aux murs rouge sang donc tres kitch! Nombres de salles d'eau tres insuffisantes, accueil sans sourire et indifférent, petit déjeuner tres moyen ( pas de pain, pas de confiture, juste deux gateaux moyens et le café ou le thé). Hostal tres bien plaçé au coeur de l'animation nocturne de Chuéca (Gay area). Pas de crainte pour le bruit car deux fenètres nous en isole...en été en revanche méfiance!

comments The service at this hostel was great; everyone was friendly, even if they didn't speak much English. The rooms, however, were a bit cramped (which is no problem), but there was a lot of noise, which usually meant that sleeping past 9:00 am, or taking a siesta, was impossible.

comments i stayed at hostal dolce vita for 3 days with my 4-year old daughter. the rooms were small, but nice and clean. however, there was an unpleasant smell in our bathroom coming from the drain. staff was friendly. while the location is very central, it can be a bit noisy at night. all in all i can recommend it and would not mind staying there again.

comments Estuvimos estas navidades. Se encuentra muy céntrico y por tanto se puede ir caminando a la mayoría de sitios. Cálido encuanto al trato y económico, pero no pidaís una habitación doble con 2 camas, resulta extraordinariamente estrecha. Ah! y se pasa un poco de frio por las tarde.

comments Amusingly camp and well-placed for gay fun and frolics, and I found the staff fine. It was really noisy though - there is a bar downstairs, and I was very glad of my earplugs. Breakfast has still not been improved - it still consists of bitter coffee and a tiny cake.

comments Well, I was a bit shocked about the breakfast. 2 litle muffin cookies and 3 other... cookies? Is that a breakfast?? I thought at the begin it's a desert and I was waiting for the right meal. Sweets for the begining of the day it's rather not healthy, and it's not enough for a man I think.

comments La relación calidad/precio está bastante bien. Es un hostal que está bien para estar unos pocos dias. La habitación doble con baño incluido tiene el baño pequeñito pero separado y la individual lo tenia en la propia habitación hecho que al ducharse llenaba la habitación de vapor y era algo incómodo.

comments Althoug our stay was satisfactory, I believe that it would help future customers to be more specific on certain details. For example, these facilites are located in the oficially gay sector of Madrid, not necessarily desirable for some families. The pictures are not too loyal to the ral thing ( the photos give you a different impression of this hostal which can at times be a little dark. Still, it´s not to be completely disregarded.

comments Location perfect (center of Madrid), missed an elevator, though, 3rd floor in Madrid is really way up (I'm 58). Breakfast? Well, the coffee and milk were at least hot. Staff OK, some of them spoke English quite well. Room? Small, clean. Toilet and shower inside the room... (ensuite?). Worth the price, though.

comments You get what you pay for. Very small but clean rooms. Girl on reception desk very miserable and unwilling to help which is a bit of a shame. Also the `breakfast´bit of bed and breakfats is a joke! But overall, very central, clean and luckily for us, well heated (It was freezing when we were there!)

comments The rooms are nice. However, the staff were less than friendly even tho we were always polite. Also, we were led to believe that the triple room comes with its own bathroom. But that was not the case. We did not kick up a fuss over it and were fine with the shared bathroom.

comments We have used this Hotel once before through book assist and found it to be excellent value. The website does suggest that towels would be provided in the rooms - This was not the case but is not a major issue. Excellent location and great character but not suitable for elderly or infirm guests due to challenging stairs!

comments Great central location. Clean and reasonably presented, but some of the rooms could have done with a lick of paint to freshen things up and one of two of the staff are a bit glum. Also, if you like tea, you might have to ask for hot water, as the water provided on the breakfast table is often luke-warm.

comments Dolce Vita was a real find amongst the quite surprisingly poor rate of hostels in Madrid on this budget. Funky little boutique style run hostel from reception to bedrooms- pleasant staff and in the very laid back and funky Chueca area!! Breakfast could have been a little more imaginative considering the attention to detail in all else!

comments It was not quite as nice as I expected, and there was no Air Conditioning so it was hot. Also, no elevator so carrying up luggage to 4th floor was tough. For 50 Euros a night, I expected much more since it was barely cheaper than a regular hotel.

Para empezar las fotos de la web no sé a qué habitación corresponde, pero a la que nos tocó a mi marido y a mí, desde luego que no. El baño era muy pequeño y la ducha y la mampara estaban rotas. La habitación, las camas y la decoración necesitaban un toque más moderno y nuevo, el colchón era una basura de verdad

comments The Hostal is in a perfect location for shopping and nightlife although, it resides in a street teeming with bars so it's loud in the evening. I used the ceiling fan to drown out the sounds from outside, which was fine as it was a hot evening anyway. The single room I was in was really clean and comfortable, although basic. The shared bathroom was clean. The staff were helpful enough. Highly recommended if you are on a budget and want to stay in the midst of the Madrid action!

comments On arrival from Seville the Hostal was difficult to find using the directions provided. The staff were not inviting and the stairs to the accomodation were dangerous and needed replacing. I would not consider room value for money and considering it was supposed to be on suite the facilities were dire - the fan was broken, linen and towels were past their best and the noise within the hostel went on until after 4am keeping me awake all night and I conseqently booked out the following morning after breakfast which again was not up to standard.
