comments My wife and I and our daughter recentky stayed at Hostal Bruna and were extremely pleased. It is not luxury by any standard, but our room and bathroom were immaculately clean and the room, though sparse, was quite comfortable. The owners are quite nice and accomodating, it is in a great location...and the price is right!

comments Good, clean, fair for the price (even if you stay in the building which has the stairs under repairing). Very nice people to assist you. A tip for getting there from Baraja Airport: the subway has many stairs to go up and down, so, the best option is going by subway just until station "Nuevos Ministerios" (that counts on automatic stairs) and get the bus N.27 (that stops right in front of the Prado and of the Hostal street - ask the bus driver to leave you in front of Calle Moretin).

comments Excellent Hostal, very clean and bright with friendly helpful manager. Superb location opposite Prado and plenty of sensibly-priced eateries and bars. One downside if your at the front and at ground level it will be very noisy - bin emptying and deliveries at 2 am etc. No air con so if you're there when hot its difficult to escape the noise.

comments This was a gem. The location couldn't be beat -- just across the street from the Museo del Prado. The front door faced a little square that had a wonderful cafe/tapas bar. The owners didn't speak any English, so it was an opportunity to practice our rusty Spanish. Our room was clean and fresh towels were brought every day. No view from the window except the back side of other parts of the house, but it made the room very quiet. The only deficit was not having a way to make tea or coffee in the room. Otherwise, a fantastic bargain. We would definitely stay here again.

comments The Hostel was very nice and in a great location. The room was small but we weren't in Madrid to stay in our hotel room. The owner was helpful with directions (Spanish only) and the reception lounge gave a nice place to sit and read and had wireless internet if one had a laptop. For a short stay in Madrid I would stay again.

comments We give our stay a 5 in general: BUT our room lacked light: the window opened into a dark inner courtyard, but for a 2-night stay we felt it was O.K; if, however, we would stay longer, we would have preferred a room with more light and more air; also the pillow in our double bed was as hard as a stone. One could not sleep on it. We loved the location (so near the Prado!) and the hostal was very clean. The owner, a very pleasant young woman, was extremely friendly. So if we were to go back to Madrid, we would stay there again. Also, it worked very well with the Cafe de la Platería, directly opposite the door to the hostal, for breakfast. That was all wonderfully convenient. So we give the hostal a 5 in general, but please note our little complaints. Thanks very much, H. v. Bechtolsheim

comments My daughter and I had a very nice stay at Hostal Bruna..great location and great value. I was a little concerned when the older gentleman took me across the street and into a building that looked to be under construction, but when we got up to our room, it was in a quite lovely newly renovated suite of rooms. Had a balcony overlooking street and a very nice bath. Just steps away from main street and plaza with great places to eat.

comments A clean hostel on a great location of the city. Clean bathroom. We had a double room, but the bed was too short for us. Low priced rooms but next time were going for more comfort.

comments The hotel is very centrally located. Right across the street from the Prado museum. About a 5 minute walk from the Aston Martin metro stop. Also very close to the train station, but about a 40 minute metro ride to and from the airport. We stayed in the apartment (101) which was on the main street and was a bit noisy at times, especially on Saturday night, until about 5 AM. The apartment had a stove, microwave, refer and clothes washer. I would recommend this hotel. The owner does not speak english.

comments Our twin room at Hostal Bruna was basic but adequate for our needs. Apart from checking in and out we did not see much of the (family) staff but they were friendly, efficient and spoke a little English. Our room was cleaned daily and clean towels provided.During our stay building works were taking place, usually between 8am and 4pm, as we were out sightseeing we were not too inconvenienced. The hostal is well situated for galleries and other places of interest, There are cafes just outside but we took our trusty travel kettle. We would stay there again if they don't put their prices up when the work is completed!
