Beautiful location, wonderful staff and gorgeous rooms. We stayed in the lodge outside. The only complaint I would have was the light from the corridor was very bright and a halo of light came around the door which made it difficult to sleep. We couldn't turn it off. That is not a complaint but just a small remark that we would have had. We will definitely be back again!

We found the building and grounds were super and to top all of this your staff were all very freindly, helpful and very professional. We found this all added to our enjoyment of our stay with you. We look forward to returning in the future.

A lovely cosy start to the new year- older world charm coupled with modern comfort and surrounded by gorgeous views and landscape. A truly pleasant experience! PS> lighting in rooms needs improvement -too dark/not possible to adjust or increase lighting and breakfast not of equal quality/choice to other similar hotels.

Beautiful location - the grounds are delightful to stroll around, and the walled garden is excellent. The rural setting is so peaceful. The restaurant was very good - for dinner the table d'hôte menu offered plenty of choice without needing to venture into the à la carte section, though the clumsy folders in which the menus are separately presented badly need a rethink. Breakfasts were also excellent. Service both in the restaurant and elsewhere was also very good. The only disappointment was the bedroom: although very spacious, including an excellent walk-in wardrobe annex, it was very gloomy. The only natural light came from a tiny window high up at ceiling level - there was a large window at the other side, which may once have been to the exterior, but now looks straight into a corridor, necessitating shutting the curtain for privacy. On the other hand, there was a huge fanlight over the door, also onto the same corridor, and being uncurtained this let in copious quantities of artificial light from the corridor, making sleep difficult as the ambient light level in the room was never dark. Indeed light levels were the big bugbear, because when one did want light to read by, the bedside lights were utterly feeble and impossible to use for reading. Also, some quirk of the switch arrangement appeared to link them so that they were either both on or both off, which is ludicrous! So despite its spaciousness, and nice appearance, the bedroom was not really fit for purpose. A pity, as the rest of the hotel is delightful.
