Had a great weekend. A fantastic room and a good breakfast. My friend used the spa and thought it was excellent. A great location as well, very close to everything in the city centre.

We stay in the Kilkenny Ormonde at least once a year, sometimes with kids and other times without, and have never been dissatisfied with anything. The staff are friendly and very obliging. The rooms are clean and modern. The food is of a high standard and the kid's club is excellent. Would recommend to anyone.

The room was very spacious and comfotable. The beds were great and bathrrom was lovely. Powerful, hot shower. My only complaint was we had no fridge, would have been useful as our room slept 4 (3 adults in our case) but if was to include kids a fridge would have been essential. Staff were great, the breakfast buffet was generous and fresh. We didn't manage to use the leisure facilities unfortunately. Great specials on in the KO Day Spa that I'll be back for. Great hotel for all, groups, families, couples, young and old. I have reccommended the hotel since my stay and will definitely be back. Thanks a mil!

The facilities were great, as was the food, room cleanilness and overall attention to detail, but it really was the staff that made our stay memorable. Each person we came into contact with treated us with kindness and consideration - genuinely friendly without being overly familiar. Good old fashioned customer service!

I spent 1 night at the kilkenny ormond recently on a 1 night b&b plus 4 course dinner package. I have only positive things to say about the hotel: its location, the manner of the staff, the I facilities, decor etc., but most of all I would like to compliment both the restaurant staff and the meal they provided. As aremany guests when booking an inclusive deal, I was sceptical of the standard of the meal but I can genuinely say now that I would return without hesitation and have already recommended it highly to many friends. The managers of this hotels can be very proud of the service they and their staff provide.

We love staying at the Ormonde, car parking is perfect, fabulous swimming pool to enjoy with the kids, rooms to suit our family, staff are always so pleasant and helpful, their is lots of variety in where and what to eat between the restaurant, and the 2 bars and last but not least the kids have wi-fi in our room! The hotel is situated right in the heart of the town - walking distance to town - park the car and dont see if until our stay is over. Love this hotel!

Thanks to Colin and his team for making our stay in Kilkenny for my husband's birthday such a good one. Lovely room, tasty breakfast and a great buzz around the place. We would definitely recommend the Kilkenny Ormonde to our friends and we will return!

My sister, myself and our two children had a really good time in Kilkenny during the mid term break. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Our children spent a lot of time in the swimming pool, whilst my sister and I availed of the sauna and jacuzzi. Our children also attended the kids club, which we had trouble taking them out off. We are hoping to return. The food in the restaurant and the breakfast were first class. We hope to return sooner rather than later. Many thanks.

A warm friendly atmosphere, with great facilities, and excellent value for money. Perfectly siutated in the heart of the Kilkenny town only a stones throw from the stunning Kilkenny castle, bars and restaurants. Would gladly stay there again.

hi we stayed as a family of 4 recently as as usual the hotel was fab! Very clean rooms, friendly staff and great location! Was not as keen on the delay in having food brought in the bar - 1 plate finished before others came but this was acknowledged in a reduced bill. Reception is very helpful both on check in and departure and the breakfast buffet was wonderful = given the reasonable rate this hotel is great value and in a great location = did not need to drive at all!

My husband and myself with our little 2 year boy stayed at the ormonde hotel in Killkenny for two nights and we had a fantastic time. it was really child friendly. our little boy had a great time in the swimming pool and he kept calling the hotel his holidays. we went down for dinner on the first night and could only stay about 5 minutes because a 2 year old does'nt sit for long. The restaurant staff were fantastic when I asked them could they bring it to the room and they served us every course just as if we were in the restaurant. a great holiday and we will dinfinately be returning in the near future.

Thank you for our lovely stay at the Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel. We stayed with our two children and having the pool as well as the Kiddies Club was such a huge benefit as it gave me and my husband some time to ourselves. The staff on reception, the leisure club, the breakfast room, even those we met in the corridor were extremely welcoming and helpful. Location was perfect and parking convenient.
We will definitely stay at the Kilkenny Ormonde again.

We stayed two nights in the Ormonde and were really pleased with the hotel. Our room was lovely, very clean and comfortable. Fantastic location and really nice staff. Brekfast was lovely both mornings and we had a really good dinner in the hotel on one night. Will definitely be back to this hotel.

Both myself and my daughter availed of your package for 199 euro. First of all we found your reception very welcoming because we were before 4pm and we were given a large comfortable straight away. The spa treatment was very enjoyable and good value. Dinner was most enjoyable, but perhaps it would have been nice not to have been tied to the early bird before 7pm as we could have spent more time in the shops before dinner and taken our time getting ready. All the staff without exception were very friendly. We took advantage of room service which arrived very hot and tasty so all and all very good. I deducted one point fro early bird dinner till 7 pm and perhaps parking could have been part of the deal as a leaflet for another offer had been on the reception desk which included parking? The location of your hotel is excellent. Regards

Had a very enjoyable stay in the Ormonde hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we managed to get an early check in which was most appreciated. The room was spacious, quiet and comfortable and had all the conveniences we required. The swimming pool was well maintained and had lane swimming which was good as it also catered for children. I also enjoyed the steam room and sauna. On the afternoon we were leaving, we both had a hot stone massage which completed a very relaxing break in Kilkenny. We also dined in the restaurant and the quality of the meal and service was very good. This was was included in a two night special with one evening meal. It was the ideal chill out afther Christmas and I will definitely stay here again. Thanks to all the staff in the kilkenny Ormonde for a lovely stay.

We had booked a table in the restaurant for 7pm, however when we arrived at 7pm it appeared that we were not on the list for that evening. We were eventually seated about 15 mins later though. Staff could be a little quicker regarding service considering it is a 4star hotel

We thoroughly enjoyed our family break to the Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel. The staff were incredibly attentive, polite, courteous and friendly at all times despite the hotel being extremely busy. The quality of the food in the restuarant was superb and the service was exemplary. Our children were extremely well catered for in the "Kids Club" which they really enjoyed. Overall we had a fantastic break and would definately book a break away in the KIlkenny Ormonde again.

We had a great 2 nights here, the room was quiet and lovely. The location was ideal and the staff very pleasant. We had dinner included one evening and I was very impressed with the quality of food. We did notice some other guests complaining there was no huge portion of potatoes (chips) but if you are used to eating in high quality restaurants you cannot fail to be impressed. Breakfast was excellent with a fantastic selection available. The only issue we had was the very poor hairdryer in the room! A great stay, highly recommended!

What a great experience at the Ormonde Hotel! The friendly helpfulness of Lorraine and Shoshanna to track down a babysitter for our Lily at the last minute exceeded expectations immensely. Without their commitment to superior customer service, we would not have been able to attend our friends' wedding, and we were so much more comfortable knowing that our Lily was in Breda's safe hands, and in such a great room. My wife and i stayed at hotel for two days midweek. Great location in the hart of the city.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Had an excellent meal at the hotel restaurant.
Used the pool in the well run leisure centre. Have no hesitation recommending The Kilkenny Ormond Hotel.

I really enjoyed my stay at Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel. I found the staff to be very professional and attentive. - I have stayed in a few hotels in Kiklenny and have found the Ormonde to be the best.
I especially found the reception staff to be very professional which is a breath of fresh air. Our stay was a surprise for my sister who was on holidays and she was extremely happy with her stay. The rooms were very clean and well presented, the breakfast was also very nice and again the staff were excellent and were always on hand and checking to see if you had everything which was great as 1 in our group was a veggie. The only thing I would say that would is I found the bar slightly un-inviting.
I will most defiantly be staying in the Kilkenny Ormonde again.

The staff always said "yes" to any of our reqests. The location was perfect for walking to the castle and town. We also stayed at your sister propery the Aghadoe Heights for 2 nights. That was one of the highlights of our week in Ireland.

We really enjoyed our stay, taking advantage of an over night package deal. The staff was extremely courteous and friendly, we had a lovely meal and were accomodated in the morning for breakfast even though we were mistaken on the breakfast service time. We first stayed at the Ormonde ten years ago, and stay there every time we visit Ireland. The staff are so welcoming and friendly, a first class hotel that cannot be bettered. Thank you to you all, especially Mags.

I stayed here with my husband and two kids. I would highly reccommend it. The pool and kids club were lovely ther is a lot to do in Kilkenny. The kids club was excellent with a bouncy castle etc. The food.was beautiful and the staff were lovely. Overall very impressed.

It is a great hotel, with very good food, spacious and a great Gym and Swimming Pool. I would recommend it for couples or Family. Situated in a nice area of Kilkenny with all amenities closeby. Kilkenny Castle is close by. A good mexican restaurant named Key Largo is nearby and does lovely Pasta.

Stayed for 1 night. Lovely Hotel with warm welcome. Great bar with friendly and helpful staff! Plenty of choice for breakfast and the pool was refreshing! Right in the centre of town it's a fantastic spot.

We have 2 young children and they especially enjoyed the kids club activities. They really like Maria, the staff coordinator. As parents traveling in a foreign country, we value nothing more than a safe place for our children to play so we really appreciated your leisure activities. Please continue to maintain and develop that part of your hotel. That has put your hotel above the others in our view. We will be back in 2 years and will certainly come back and will recommend your hotel to others.

I stayed in the hotel with two friends for two nights in a family room. I was very happy with my stay here. We went swimming in the hotel and we were impressed with the facilities. We found all the staff at the hotel to be very friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is great for going out and shopping, it's very central. We had dinner in the bar on one night and it was very nice, I would recommend the sirloin steak. Overall we were very satisfied with our stay at the ormonde.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Hotel but before my arrival to make a booking I could never reach the front desk and when I was booking I was informed that any offer available on the internet could not be availed of over the phone this is difficult as I travel a lot with work and not always is internet access available. Besides these minor points my stay was enjoyable the staff friendly and rooms clean.

Over all lovely hotel. The water in the shower was cold and only hot water coming from both from the sink taps also could have done with a shower hose to rinse hair. I have stayed before and would stay again very good deal including dinner.

I stayed in the hotel a few years ago a number of times and it was lovely - it still is in fact and very reasonably priced. My only complaint is that I didn't have to get up until 9 a.m. but housekeeping knocked at my door at 8 and 8.10. Surely housekeeping should just work on the rooms that have checked out etc.

Hi there - our stay was very good - just a few observations - we were paying in cash and we were requested to pay the full amount for the room that we had not seen or stayed in - I thought this was poor as I would think that a deposit would suffice. Also I would say that the room was very comfortable apart from the pillows on the bed - I would have to say that they were the most uncomfortable hard pillows that I ever slept on and were very disappointing - I ended up having to sleep on the cushions that were on the bed. Apart from that the stay was very enjoyable and the childrens club was really good for the children and would be a major draw for return visit.

I booked a large room and requested three beds. I got a pleasant surprised when I seen the room and the space provided. I got three beds, two singles and a double in a very large room. Thanks to the receptionist for organising it. The breakfast had a great variety and was also very nice. The only downside was the cost (€202). I would like to get a triple room for €150. Any deals please let me know.

When we tried to get food in the Bar, the first waiter I met was very rude, informing me I needed a reservation. When I talked to the barman, he was very helpful and we eventually got something to eat. It's not very clear that most of the Bar operates like a restaurant, although you have another restaurant as well. Other than that we had a lovely stay in the hotel and really enjoyed the Leisure facilities!

Having travelled worldwide over many years we found the staff to be extremely friendly and excellent at customer service. The only negative point was that there was no fridge in the room and we found it very inconvenient from a health and safety point of view that my wife had to leave her medication in a fridge in the kitchen area. We would suggest that maybe you should consider connecting up the existing fridges in rooms.

Hotel was nice, room was tidy and spacious. Staff were helpful upon arrival but any queries I had after check in seemed to have gone un-noticed. Internet was advertised in the room, a very small request, was not expecting to use it all the time but to be able to check my emails once a day. They said they'd send someone to fix it the next day and didnt. Location is great, right beside the town.
Restaurant (O Reilly's) was a bit 50/50. I had a pretty awful meal the 1st night but had a nice meal the 2nd night it just depends on what you order... there are some dishes which should simply not be on the Menu (Game Terrine etc)
Spa was nice, pool... jacuzzi and fitness club all very useful. Parking lot outside the hotel with a ton of spaces available so no need to worry about where to leave your car and at 5 euro a day, pretty reasonable prices.
Overall I gave a 4/5. It was a lovely Hotel and for the value we paid, we were very happy. The only issue was with the internet (very minor) and the food which I suppose could be deemed unlucky. Otherwise, great hotel... would visit again.

My friend and I stayed at the Ormonde in February 2011 and we had a fabulous time! Reception staff very friendly on arrival and during our stay recommending pubs and clubs! Our spa treatments were amazing-relaxing rooms, friendly staff and value for money. Just one small quibble - mini pedi not real worth the money, a soak and foot scrub should be included but this is only minor point. Dinner in the restaurant was delicious and again all staff very friendly and helpful. I would definately recommend the hotel to anyone looking for a central location in Kilkenny with friendly and helpful staff. I will be returning to the Ormonde soon I hope! Service was great!

We would return to the hotel at afuture date.The package We had was good value for money.The food was lovely and the room was well serviced.Although there was a notice telling us that breakfast would be busy at certain times,the service was very poor regarding tea/toast etc.Also the lockers in the leisure centre are in need of repair,alot of them would not acept a coin and the wristbands were broken.

in my opinion not good enough for 4 star hotel. Water pipe works all night ouside near our room and still no offer to change room (hotel was half empty). Spa not very welcoming therefore i cancelled appointments. Entrance door not functioning well at night and nobody at reception. But very satisfied with breakfast buffet! Myriam O'neill

ye it is a lovely hotel but 4star?? not sure the bathroom could be alot better. The guy in the restaurant was not very helpful we arrived bout 9 or half 9on Friday which i know was late for food . He kinda ignored us but then when we said excuse me he just said the kitchen is closed no advice where to go nothing and a bit snippy in his tone.

I felt I was given a badly located room - to the front of the hotel above the noise on the street after the nightclub. I wouldn't return for a relaxing stay - you couldn't guarantee getting a decent bedroom away from the noise.

The toilet in our hotel room was not flushed so had been not been cleaned prior to our arrival. THe restaurant performance was very poor, while the food was very tasty the service left a lot to be desired. One of the guest had water poured over her shoulder, and an apology or acknowledgement only came about where the waitress was tackled on it. Also my mother ordered fish and was left with steak cutlery to eat it, surprising for a four star hotel! The staff in the leisure centre and spa however were lovely and very professional

OUR ROOM WAS VERY DISAPPOINTING AS THERE WAS COOLING EQUIPMENT RIGHT OUTSIDE THE WINDOW, BLOCKING ALL LIGHT AND ANY VIEW. WE COULD NOT OPEN THE WINDOW DURING THE NIGHT AS THE NOISE FROM THE SAID EQUIPMENT WAS TOO MUCH FOR SLEEPING. SHAMPOOS ETC. IN THE BATHROOM WERE VERY SPARSE. BREAKFAST SEENED TO HAVE DIS-IMPROVED SINCE WE LAST STAYED THERE. A DISAPPOINTING RETURN. UNFORTUNATELY ONE OF OUR GRANDCHILDREN GOT SICK SO WE HAD TO RETURN HOME AFTER ONLY ONE NIGHT. WE HAD ALREADY ASKED FOR A CHANGE OF ROOM BEFORE WE MADE THE DECISION TO GO HOME.

My family and I stayed in The Kilkenny Ormond for a few nights over the New Year. We all found it very homely and relaxing. The bar food was lovely and the meals we had in the restaurant were first class, there was also a good selection on the menu.
Bedrooms were very spacious and the bed was comfy.
The drink prices in the bars were similar to pub prices which was a nice
surprise.
Also it's really centrally located for shopping and sight seeing.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone heading to Kilkenny for a holiday.

Room furnishings were fine, however the continuous noise from various groups outside the room made sleep impossible until 5:00am, large gap between floor and door did not help stopping the noise penetrating into the room. Location good, civil guests very poor.

in general hotel very good, nice room,good leisure centre,staff very helpful,and in centre of town.only problem is at breakfast tea and toast brought out too quick u are just starting your cerial, it is self service and by time u are gone back up to get breakfast toast is hard and tea cold.overall would have no problem staying at ormonde hotel again.

We had quite a late check in and front office personnel were expecting us and called us by our names, which is very nice to hear as we knew we were about to be cared for during our stay - my partner and I both come from the hospitality industry and we did notice these small things immediately. We were offered to order some food that was quickly brought up to our rooms. Breakfast was always fresh and the staff were friendly too. Compliments also to the housekeeping department as they always cleaned our room to the highest of our expectations. During our stay we also asked for some information to the FO staff and they helped us too. Well done to all and we look forward to joining you again some other time!

Our hotel room did not meet the four star standard that we expected. Our ensuite bathroom was not clean, tissue holder was empty&only 2 bath towels were provided between 3 guests. Bedside lamp&refridgerator in bedroom were not working. The foyer was very messy on night of our stay with empty glasses&rubbish around tables&floor. On a positive note staff in pool&spa were very friendly/helpful. I found stepping into gym with loud music after leaving KO spa dispersed any feelings of relaxation&tranquility I had from my treatment. Receptionist who checked us out was on telephone call while dealing with us which did not afford us the opportunity to give her feedback on our stay.

The ormonde was booked for a special occasion, however it failed to live up to our expectations, staff were most friendly but breakfast on both mornings was a disgrace quality wise for what we were expecting from a hotel in this price category. Our evening meal which was included on one evening.. dinner in the savour restaraunt,,, was served in what was a part of the bar area, meal was fine, atmosphere none, and there were people around us complaining about delays.
We left a complaint document when checking out, no feedback as yet....

I have stayed in the Kilkenny Ormonde on several occasions and I have never been disappointed with the welcome at check in, the food, the rooms, the staff. I have recommended the hotel to several people who been very satisfied. I have organised an association annual conference on two occasions and again the welcome, staff, service etc has been superb.

We - two elderly ladies - stayed at the Ormonde in early October. Our room was in perfect condition, though we had some trouble with the lighting. Staff immediatly dealt with this. Our room on the second floor at the back was very quiet and we never heard a thing at night. Food at breakfast and in the dining room was excellent. Staff were smiling and helpful at all times. Our stay was just for one night (excellent offer - cocktails, 4 course dinner B&B for 2 people €139) but it was very pleasant. The Hotel, staff, food, leisure centre & room were very nice. We had just two minor issues - the room was extremely warm even though the radiator was turned off and (while the breakfast was very good) when I asked for yoghurt I was told that it was not provided (it says organic yoghurt is part of breakfast on the menu - but I didn't know this at the time). These were minor issues and we enjoyed our stay and would be happy to return.

Myself, Vincent , and his 2 daughters stayed with you for a spa break on Monday 20th September 2010. We had an absolutely superb time. I gave my positive comments and compliments on check out to the reception area. I am delighted to have the opportunity to formally compliment the staff and the hotel on the fantastic service that we received while in the Kilkenny Ormonde hotel.
We booked a spa break for myself, my partner Vincent and his 2 daughters for 20th September. On booking I mentioned that it was Vinny's 50th Birthday on Monday 20th and as he was working in Kilkenny on 20th and 21st we decided to 'bring the mountain to Mohammad' and join him there for the night to celebrate his 50th birthday. On booking I mentioned that it was Vinny's 50th Birthday and immediately we were upgraded to a beautiful suite with a balcony. In addition there was a lovely box of chocolates left for us on arrival. I must especially compliment and thank David for this as it was really appreciated and made the evening very special. The spa treatments were lovely and the staff excellent- very professional with personal attention. The food in the Steakhouse was gorgeous and despite the steakhouse being very busy the waiters even brought a desert with a candle on!!. As Vinny works on regular occasions in Kilkenny, we will indeed visit again, and we have no hesitation in recommending the Kilkenny Ormonde to friends, family and colleagues alike- Indeed we have already done so. We enjoyed our stay in the Ormonde Hotel. The room was lovely and ready when we arrived. Check in was quick and the staf were all very pleasant. The hotel is in the centre of Kilkenny and we could walk everywhere. The only negative was that it rained that evening and a leaking/overflowing gutter outside our bedroom window kept us awake.

I was attending a wedding, the hotel was fantastic for the wedding. the room was lovely beds were really comfortable. But just two complaints. When i booked in i was giving someone elses room key. So when i went to the room there were people already occupying it. and Then the following morning, while i was still in bed. Someone opened the my door to come it but closed it again when realizing there was someone there.

Hotel stay was brilliant and would recommend anyone to stay here. the only thing we didnt get that was included on the overnight package was the complimentary cocktail before dinner. the food was fantastic from the steak sandwich at lunch to the braized lamb shanks at dinner, will hopefully get back down there sometime soon

Hotel was very nice and perfectly located. We had two beautiful meals in the Restaurant and the breakfast was excellent on both mornings. One criticism, the carpet in the lobby badly needs replacing, it makes a poor first impression. Also, there was not enough shampoo/shower gel etc. supplied in the bathroom. (1 tiny bottle of each per room!) Other than that I would highly recommend.

I had read some previous comments on the Ormonde, which were somewhat mixed, so was a little apprehensive on arrival. Got the key to the room, went up, opened the door, did a double take and thought I had the wrong room - decided quickly though that I quite liked the idea of two nights in an executive suite and settled in quickly. A very comfortable room, nicely furnished and decorated, and my daughter thought she was in heaven with two tvs! Room service, breakfast, etc, were very promptly delivered and our meal in the restaurant was good value.
We also used the pool every day during our stay and found it very relaxing and well laid out.
Two tiny complaints: the camp bed that was set up for my daughter kept collapsing so she ended up sharing my bed (which in fairness could sleep four comfortably), and the slide out storage drawer under the bed, though a good idea, was full of dust - if something is in the room at all, it needs regular cleaning.
Overall, we wished we could have stayed another night or two and would definitely stay again - can we have the executive suite again please?

I had 2 visits in one week for work purposes... On my 1st visit i asked for a quiet room and the ladies on reception could not have been more helpful.. the room was clean and as requested, quiet. save for the noise of the air con unit in the car park across the street.. overall very good. While checking out the following morning i said that my company had already paid however the gent on reception disagreed with me which i thought was a tad unprofessional, however upon realising his error he could not have been nicer.
On my 2nd visit it was a late check in and the room was directly opposite the lift and had no remote control for the tv, I called reception and was promptly and professionally moved to a quieter room. Check out the following morning was pleasant and professional.
Having stayed in about 10 - 12 hotels in the past number of weeks, I would rate the Ormond in the top 3 and would definitely stay there again and also recommend it to friends.

First Visit to Kilkenny City and luckily we chose Kilkenny Ormonde -- it is everything that a top class hotel should be -- genuinely friendly staff , excellent accomodation and fabulous food. Cant wait to return to The Ormonde.

When booking, the website asked when we were arriving - so we indicated we'd be there at 12pm. When we arrived, we were rold that the room wouldn't be ready until 4pm.

I was disapointed with the bedroom in that one of the phones didnt work, the bulb wasn't working in the lamp on the dressing table and the duvet covers on both beds were ripped.
Otherwise I was happy overall, the breakfast was good and the hotel is centrally located. also the parking ticket for the high rise car park across the road from the hotel was validated for the whole day after we had checked out. We would stay there again.

I did find at breakfast time when it became busy that staff found it difficult to cope. On my first morning my tea and toast arrived after i had finished my breakfast, if a special order was put in ie poached egg it took forever. also at one lunch time my meal was finished by the time my daughters was delivered, i had to request silvereware and and had to request drinks on 2 occasions. I did mention my disatisfaction and was given my meal free. On a more positive note the bedroom was great good size for a family, the kids club was a blessing in disguise, leisure facilities and pool were good (weights area could do with some improvements). Great location and staff were good.

I did have a late arrival and early departure so I didn't use the facilities of the hotel with the exception of 2 of my children having a swim.
We found the beds too hard and the pillows were like rocks. This meant that none of us slept right and as a result we got up late although we did enjoy our breakfast but the purpose of our stay was a good nights sleep between two 200 mile journeys and we missed it.
Would recommend staying as the hotel is lovely but would check the bed, pillows etc to ensure a good nights rest.

Overall good impressions of the hotel, the staff were very friendly and the food was good. I took one point off because it while it was generally clean, I felt the bedroom could have been cleaner on our arrival. There was a dead fly on the window sill which I had to remove and it was dusty also.

Very enjoyable stay. Had my 16 year daughter with me and our room was location was perfect, very quiet. If there was one thing I would comment on is the lack of air con in the room which was extremely warm at night but as this is Ireland it is likely something that won't bother us too much. Thanks again, we had such a great time, I will be back there again next week.

We did have to wait a while for our room and communication between front desk and housekeeping seemed lacking. However the room was lovely and the spa was excellent. Overall customer service was also very good.

We really enjoyed our stay. On the whole the staff were very friendly and helpful - it was nice to find chatty staff - makes a big difference in terms of friendlyness - this is what the Irish are good at - making people feel welcome. The staff in the kids club were great - and we got a lovely babysitter for two of the nights. The only slight critisism I would have is that the breakfast varied in quality and quantity each of the three mornings - luckily it improved rather than disimproved as the days went on. Generally I would recommend this hotel to families with children - ours had an absolute ball there. The bouncy castle in the kids club is a nice touch.

The only thing is that there was no sweet/chocolate machine or crisps available in the hotel as with two children would have be a saviour!! Over all we were extremely satisfied with EVERYTHING in the hotel. Everything was on hand without leaving the hotel except the above comment.It was like a home from home except we had the relaxation and comfort in your hotel.
Thank you so much for a very enjoyable stay for both ourselves and our two children.

The hotel was in a perfect location, very central. It was a lovely hotel, staff very friendly and helpful and food very good and plentiful, however the delux room for a family off 4 was a bit tight. The 4th bed was a small camp bed which was sufficient for our 4 year old but wouldnt do for a much older child. The room was however very clean which is what mattered. As per a previous review there was a damp smell in the corridors of our floor (3rd) as if there had been a water leak or something. We went from Sunday to Thursday so there was no entertainment on in the hotel for these days which I feel was missing despite the hotel being very busy. The kiddie club was very good and entertaining for the younger kids (up to age 6 max) but nothing to entertain older ones. Overall we enjoyed our stay at hotel, found it very relaxing but would not rate as a 4 star hotel.

Excellent Location and fantastic driving directions on your web site. Food was lovely. Room was v clean, comfy & spacious, however our room must have been near the function room as even with closed windows we could hear people outside at 3am. This would have been more annoying if we we were looking for a nice quiet weekend away. However as we were only sstaying one night it was something we were prepared to overlook.

We have stayed at the Ormonde many times and chose to return again this year after being somewhat dissatisfied with our stay last year. We were a bit disappointed that there were no bigger family rooms available when we booked but went ahead and reserved the smaller family room. There was a lot of noise, especially on the Friday night, and a very bright light was shining in the window of the room which prevented me from having a good nights sleep. We invited friends to dine with us on the Friday night in Savour and thought we could opt for the 2 or 3 course special menu, but when we enquired we were told that we could only order from the A La Carte. On the positive side, the staff, as always, were lovely and our daughter Poppy enjoyed the time she spent in the Kiddies Club (the girls there were great). As we love going to the Ormonde (mainly due to the staff, facilities and location) we will continue to book the Ormonde (eventhough our last two visits have been less than perfect).

A lovely hotel, great location, very nice breakfast, friendly front of house staff -we enjoyed our stay here. The only negative things were we found the room extremely warm and as we were at the front of the hotel it was very noisy on Friday night. So perhaps the next time, I would look for a room at the back of the hotel.

The rooms were disappointing,especially the bathroomwhere the door stop was in a bad position,also it was nearly impossible to access the shower without stepping into bath first Having previously stayed in the Hotel I feel that the general economic downturn is definitely affectingt the hotel in that it's general appearance is tired looking and needs revitalising with a makeover to enhance it's image.The Staff were friendly and helpful and is the Hotels best asset but they also appeared to be overstretched at times.The breakfast were good,but the dinner menu could improve and offer more variety.

During our brief stay at the Ormond Hotel we discovered a tranquil santuary at the heart of the city which afforded us the ability to ramble and easily return to pause . The hotel is comfortably furnished, the food excellent and the staff both friendly and helpful. The room however has no heating / air conditioning control and even in June the temperature was uncomfortably hot. It is my only negative comment with excellent facilities available, so good luck for the future.

Enjoyed our stay. Staff very friendly. Location excellent. Car park arrangmeent with Q-Park very helpful.
On the downside, while we didn't expect a room with a view, we got one with no view at all! Can't remember the room number (125?) but it was at the end of the 1st corridor looking out the back of the hotel but all you see is the flat roof and pipes.
however, other than that we really enjoyed our stay. Thank you

Es ist eine sehr schönes, zentral gelegenes Hotel.
Die Zimmer sind sehr groß, allerdings enttäuschte uns
der Staub und Restmüll (benutzes Pflaster) vom Gast zuvor
unter den Betten. Im Bad war der Waschbeckenrand sehr
unansehnlich. Einfach mal auf das Toi setzen und zum Waschbecken schauen, Sie werden sehen was wir meinen.
Das Personal an der Rezeption und in den verschiedenen Lokalitäten
war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.

My wife and I were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary.I had booked the Romantic Package. Due to a room change,the bubbly and chocs were not in the room when we arrived.This was soon rectified with the addition of some delicous fresh strawberries.
I had requested a room with a veiw and was not disappointed.We found the staff very friendly and helpful.We had arranged to have dinner in the Savour restuarant,however,when we arrived for the meal we were told that the restuarant was full and we were directed to the steak house instead.Dispite our disapointment we agreed to this change.Apart from one unfortunate accident the meal was pleasant.
We also booked some time in the Spa which we thoroughly enjoyed.Overall we had a very pleasant stay.
Out of 10 marks we give 7.5.

We went for two nights on a spa break. The hotel is very centrally located and there is secure parking across the road. The room was very comfortable- a huge plus for me was that the windows could be opened.The food was lovely and the staff were helpful and courteous. I would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to a friend.

we booked on line and found it was very easy to do so. there was hoever a problem on arrival when it turned out that although i had booked a spa treatment on line there was no appointment when ai arrived at the hotel. i was told i should have phoned to confirn but that wasnt indicated on the web sight. the staff were very nice and although i couldnt have the treatment because the spa was booker out i did recive a voucher in the poas a few days later for a treatment . so although i was very dissapointed at the time i am now looking forward to using my voucher the next time i am in Kilkenny City ( i will be ringing beforehand)

The Hotel is very comfortable with all the facilities needed, The staff are extremly friendly and helpful, the breakfast every morning was fit for a king and served up very efficently. One small thing, as it is a city centre hotel I fond it difficult to find. perhaps additional sign posts in and around the city for the hotle would have helped.

Five of the family stayed and we shared 2 rooms.Firstly the staff were very helpful and friendly on arrival. The rooms were clean,comfortable and spacious. We ate in the hotel rstaurant which was very good and reasonably priced. All in all a very enjoyable experience and we would definitely stay at the Ormonde again.

The hotel is a 4 star? Yet I found it to be on the verge of being run down, in otherwords if they don't update it,it will tip over to the run down side.
Check in time is 4 oclock!! absolute madness in this economy.
I was given a preferred check in time on bookassist,and I entered 1.30 I arrived after 2,yet was told the room wouldn't be ready until four!
The staff are very good and the dinner was very nice though.
The location is excellent too.

Had an excellent weekend here, it's a beautiful hotel, very friendly service, rooms were immaculate and vey modern. The food was lovely, however the hotel does't cater very well for vegetarians, that's my only fault. The hotel is so central its just a quick walk to the main street and the castle, will definatley be back again!

Upon Check in i was greeted nicely by your receptionist, our room was really nice and spacious. Meal in Steak house was delicious. Staff very pleasant and breakfast very satisfying but unfortunately overcharged when checking out and staff had no idea of mini bar in our room or what we had consumed from it until i told her. Loss of revenue adds up !!!! Over all stay very good

One major disappointment was that on choosing a non-smoking room, and being greeted on my entry to a notice indicating a €100 fine for smoking, nevertheless there was a very strong smell of cigarette smoke in my room that persisted throughout my stay (Room 2004, if memory serves me correctly). Otherwise, room fine, breakfast good, and leisure facilities and associated staff very good. Thanks.

the hotels was very nice ,food in the resturant was excellent and service was great rooms were very clean and spacious what i liked most was we wernt rush out of the room the next day at check out time. the one thing i would say is that the staff at the reception desk could be a bit more helpful they were polite but very abrupt when asking them anything.the same with bar staff at hotel bar.had a great time otherwise and would recommend this to anyone looking for somewhere nice to stay and central to every thing lee

My mam and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel. We try to stay there at least once a year and we always have a wonderful time. The staff are extremely helpful and can't do enough, we tend to do nothing but relax and eat and the Ormonde is the perfect place to do both!

Our stay was lovely, great location, exacty what we wanted, only downside was the excessive heat in the room - we didn't realize until we were checking out that we could have asked reception to have it turned off - made for a very uncomfortable night unfortunately. Turning off - or down - the heat would probably save the hotel money too?? Otherwise, we had a lovely stay thanks.

Room (119) was pleasant but a little warm and became noisey when the window was opened. Staff very helpful and eager. Eat in the steak restaurant had the 10oz strip which was not 10oz and had to go back as it was over cooked the first time but staff very apologetic and did offer an apperatif on the house so no real complaint.

The bar in the hotel was freezing cold and I was unable to have my meal there. The bar staff kindly arranged for my meal to be served in the lobby. On the morning of my departure the water was cold ---there had been a problem with the boiler. I understand that problems can occur but the reception staff were not really apolegetic about the inconvenience.

Overall the hotel stay was fantastic, I found the staff to be very very helpful especially in the restaurant as I have specific dietry requirements my orders were different but it seemed like nothing was too much effort.
The only issue we had on our stay was that the couple in adjoining room fought for an hour or so from 2am. We called reception to have someone come up and ask them to be a bit quieter but we did not hear that anyone did ask them to keep it down. Also the room was awfully hot, even though we had someone come up to turn down the radiator it was piping hot until approx 6am. As a result we did not have a good nights sleep.

My wife and i and our 5mth old baby booked into the ormonde after xmas for a quiet break. We found the hotel extremely comfortable especially the seating area beside the reception. There was a complete relaxing athmosphere about the hotel. The food in the hotel was top class. I had the salmon one night and it was beautiful. Could not recommend the hotel high enough. Would definitely go back in the future.

Room was clean. Staff very friendly and professional. Breakfast buffet style but nicely laid out and good variety of food, cooked breakfast, fresh fruit, cereals, breads etc. Had 5 month old baby and hotel happy to refrigerate bottles and use when needed. Had spa treatment also and found whole experience very relaxing and enjoyed hot stone massage! Only complaint was that we were placed in corridor off from the main corridor maybe because we had a baby, which was appreciated, but still could hear music from wedding on our 2nd night stay which was annoying and kept us awake but baby slept sound!

I like to read in my room/in bed as I'm sure do many others. However the lighting in the room made this impossible. This happens in many hotels. I'm aware that hotels want to keep down costs but surely one good reading light per room wouldn't break the bank!

On their website they had a special offer to include a facial and back massage. This is what I booked. While checking out the receptionist was charging us for this with her phrase - well I have my back up here. There were numerous people checking out at the same time and I felt this was very embarrassing. In the end I had to go to the computer (which I had to pay for) in their reception to show them their offer on their website. This was (the special offer) not carried over on to my printout at the time of booking and I had to explain to her that this was a error on either their web site or on book assist.

The only problem was the size of the room. it was very warm and uncomfortable because it was so small. It was like an attic conversion with only a small window. The fact that the fan vent didn't work in the bahroom made showers uncomfortable. in every other way it was a good value stay.

The hotel was not prepared for the number of guests staying on the August bank holiday, when we arrived to check in at 4pm, 2 hours after check-in time, they STILL did not have a room clean for us. My friends who were also staying were assigned a room which had someone elses bags in it. The check-in part of the stay was very disappointing, the rest of the stay was fine, the location is excellent.

Very pleasant and convenient. Felt room while adequate was not of deluxe standard as advertised. Was particularly disappointed with the bath. However, the breakfast was lovely and the staff helpful,friendly and efficient. Great location. Mary McCormack

our stay for very relaxing nice big room, only thing we were in beside a generator or something and it hummed all night my husband could not sleep I was fine I slept right through it.

Staff were very pleasant, fppd was excellent.Entertainment in O'Reilly Lounge on Saturday Night was brilliant. Location central to all amenities. finally the pool was great. Would go back again.

lovely hotel. Every comfort . i liked that they had free Coffee/Tea making facilities on every floor as well as in your room. it was a nice touch. Very central hotel you can walk everywhere.

excellent hotel with very friendly staff. rooms and service to a very high standard.in an very central position in town.if i hade to find a fault, i did not like the high stools in dining room although the majority of tables were of a normal height.

i had booked non-smoking twin room online but when i got to the hotel only smoking twin left. dissapointing that hotel did not contact me before to tell me they were over booked.

Receptionist on arrival was unfriendly, but this varied as to who was on the desk to meet people. A clean, quiet room, more than ample in size; one king size bed and one single bed, room to sit and write overlooking the car park at the rear. A small bottle of mineral water was extortionate (3 euros 10c for 25cl), mineral water should be provided in the rooms for their price. Breakfast was excellent with a good variety of foods. Evening meal in O'Briens was expensive and average but the staff were helpful and friendly. I stayed on the second floor and there was no noise from the cabaret evenings.
