comments The room and bed were satisfactory, warm, clean and comfortable enough....the coffee was welcome The evening dinner was only very average,we were a little cold in the restaurant and there was no atmosphere at all....it was midweek and very quiet so probably the reason. we asked for our complimentary glass of wine which we had seen advertised in our room but were told we needed a "token". yes when we checked the notice it did say "token required" but in very small letters at the bottom. We thought it was stupid...either give it or dont!! we thought the deserts were particularly poor...apple pie and cheesecake....very low priced quality shop bought. The menu appeared to include tea or coffee [apart from fancy coffees for which there was a price E2.50 I think] so we asked for 2 regular coffees.... that was our biggest complaint because they were the worst and weakest we had ever tasted. When we paid for one beer and one soda water the cost was over E12 which I querried and was told the coffees were not included in the set menu.... we felt this was misleading. The breakfast was satisfactory on the 2nd day tho we felt cold again. On the 1st day we had to eat in the bar owing to a break-in so we made allowances for the poor selection on offer. All staff were polite and helpful but we did feel they could have been a bit more friendly, even tho the hotel was so quiet and we tried to make conversation with some staff, they did not appear to have the time or inclination to chat. The hotel interior has the amazing church ruins feature but when we asked about it staff didn't seem to know anything about its origin. We looked through all the hotel literature but there was no mention of it,what a shame that such an interesting feature was overlooked. Overall we had no serious complaints but thought the hotel was very average, sorry. Mrs Rita Williamson
