comments The decor of the bar restaurant was in my view too dark. I felt the light colours of the recetion area needed to be carried Through to the bar restaurant. We were a last minute booking, and we choose Riverside based on location and price. Overall we had a very pleasant stay.

comments My Husband and I had a Wonderful Weekend and especially with it being his Birthday you even had a Birthday Card left in the Room for him, that was a lovely touch. Wonderful Staff and Hotel, we will definitely recommend and we will be back again in the near future.

comments Stayed in the Riverside for 2 nights and it was ideal for what we needed. Staff were very friendly and were very helpful and courteous. Would recommend the hotel to anyone and would stay again if in Killarney. The price was also very reasonable, no complaints!!

comments My stay was for 9 nights. On arrival, Reception was very spacious and relaxing and staff were very welcoming. The bar and restaurant provided excellent meals at competitive prices. My room was very confortable. I spent quite a lot of time in-house and found housekeeping staff very friendly and helpful. It was refreshing to receive a taste of the genuine Irish hospitality again . I recommend this hotel and will certainly return to the Riverside Hotel.

comments A Beautiful hotel and beautifully located. Only a 5 minute walk into town. Would have loved if there had been a leisure centre in the hotel. Food was beautiful in the hotel, especially my morning pancakes. Staff very pleasant and friendly. I also availed of a massage in the rejuvenation suite and was quite pleased with the service. My partner and I were very happy with our stay and will definitely return!

comments Room lovely, vomfy and clean, although a bit too hot at night! Also, the drawers in the chest of drawers were tiny and not suficient to store jumpers etc. However, the staff were lovely and we chose to eat at the htoel rather than go out as the food and service was superb. comments The first inpression I got off the hotel was Fabulous!! The room was big and clean. Loved the bed loads of room. We got the breakfast sent to the room the following morning and really appreciated the phone call beforehand. All the staff were lovely. It was so reasonable in price too. Thanks for a great stay we will definately stay again!!

comments I have given the hotel 3 out of 5 as it's a 4 star. I stayed for 3 nights from Friday to Monday. Sunday morning breakfast was a disaster. Too many staff on for breakfast, even if hotel was full. Ordered coffee from one person, tea arrived by another, breakfast order taken at 10.15am by another person and our breakfast didn't arrive till 10.55am till we asked again for it. Had saw our breakfast wrongly delivered to another couple. We wern't the only ones whos breakfast didn't arrive. Too many staff!!!! Later on you had to notify the reception if you wanted a drink at the bar as no staff was on to run it. Bath taps in room was constantly running, room 202. Not enough car parking spaces when it's fully booked (Sat night). The staff are lovely and I guess with recession, management have made cut backs and this does reflect in what you get from the Riverside Hotel, Killarney. It should be a 3 star with cheaper rates and I'd give it a 5 out of 5.

comments To whom it may concern: The overall stay was excellent and the staff were all extremely helpful, however, I do believe that the menu in the restaurant was quiet poor, my partner got the Penne Pasta Dish and it was simply pasta, tomato sauce and large clumps of brocolli which made her experience less than satisfying.

There is plenty of it but the taste and standard could be a bit better.In saying that the location is perfect and the rooms are lovely and clean and the staff are the best.Especially the General Manager that we met during our stay,he was a gentleman.

Only fault was the restaurant wasn't open on the first night of our stay - no food to be had in the bar either, but the meal we had on the last night was fabulous-second night we went elsewhere as we thought kitchen would be closed again.

comments Overall, the hotel was excellent value for the special rate I paid, The staff were very helpful and pleasant, the room was lovely and the breakfast was very good - freshly cooked rather than self service buffet. My only quibble was that the evening meal was nothing special and for a four star hotel, I would have expected a better menu selection. I would certainly stay at the hotel again and recommend it to others but I'm not too sure if I would use the restaurant again.

comments Lovely hotel, very nicely laid out. It is close to the town, 4-5 mins walk from town centre. Staff were very friendly and are probably the best feature of the hotel, never felt like you were putting them out with any requests and were always smiling as far as I could see. Breakfast was lovely every day and the room was spacious and comfortable. Price of the stay was very reasonable so I was very impressed with it overall, I felt I was getting more than what I paid for. We would stay here again without hesitation.

The room in the hotel was really nicely decorated. I couldn't fault anything about it and will definitely stay there again.

comments We had previously visited the Riverside five years ago and thought we would go back as we enjoyed our stay so much the first time round and I'm so glad we came back. I phoned the reception desk a couple of days before we were due to arrive and asked if I could have a "nice" room as it was a special occasion and we were given a King room which was spacious and very comfortable. The location of the hotel is perfect too, close enough to town to walk, while still close enough to the mountains to get the stunning views Killarney has to offer. The best part of the stay was the attentive and friendly staff who did everything they could to make sure we had what we needed whether it was at breakfast, at dinner, at the bar or at the reception desk, they are an asset to the hotel and make it what it is. I proposed to my girlfriend (now fiance) while we were on holiday and the hotel really lived up to the occasion. We will definitely be returning!

comments 1.The room was just about adequate but could be considered shabby and needed a good deep clean;also the alarm/bedside clock was broken. 2. The instructions in regards to the use of the television and selection of channels was not as precise as one would have wished. 3. The barman had no idea how to pour a pint of Guiness and indeed consistantly served short measure as a result of this lack of knowledge. 4.The roast lamb served on our first night was,qiute frankly, disgraceful. It appeared not to have been freshly carved,but carved earlier in the day and reheated in the evening. 5.There was not the friendliness from some of the staff which we had experienced in our previous hotels. 6. Suggest Management takes a look at how other hotels operate ie. Dunraven Arms,Adare.

comments We had lunch in the bar on our arrival - just a toasted sandwich & a panini - the toasted sandwich was the smallest sandwich I ever saw and the panini was horrible. We were served tea & coffee immediately and had to wait for the sandwiches - I could understand this if the bar was busy but we were the only customers there. Otherwise the hotel itself was fine but I won't be rushing back there again when there is so much competition in Killarney.

comments Though only stayed for one night I found the staff, rooms and sevice excellent, I would have liked to have been able to avail of a smoking room. I'm still a customer as a smoker and normally would not stay more than one night if a hotel does not accommodate smokers.

comments I must say my stay was very enjoyable. The standard of the hotel was very high with regard to hygene and food served in the restaurant. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Hats off to the Chef who put in the extra effort with presentation and taste of food. I go on a lot of breaks and would definitely recommend it using the brochure left in your foyer. One small thing I found along with my collegues that the 2nd cup of tea from the china tea pot at breakfast time was cool/cold. Maybe tea cosies might put it right otherwise everything was great. would definitely stay again.

comments We were very dissatisfied with our recent stay at the hotel.We had to complain shortly after checking in about a really bad smell coming from the ensuite.They moved us to a different room after they tried to tell us the smell was gone (air freshner was sprayed into the room) and that this problem happens to all the hotels on the Muckross rd after it rains!.The hotel was advertised as 4 star but it is more like a 3 star.The bed was terrible to sleep in and the shower curtain needs replacing or at least cleaning.The only good points were the food which was very good and the staff in the bar/restaurant were very good too.

comments We stayed in Room 323 in the Riverside over the August bank holiday weekend. We had stayed there on a few occasions but it was a while since we stayed. It has really deteriorated over the past years. It is certainly not a 4-star anymore. We were met with an abrupt lady at the reception who never looked me in the eye either for checking in or out. (same lady both times!). The decor of the room was disgraceful, very poor. The curtains were torn and the worst thing of all was that there was a massive gap between the window and window frame so you couldn't close the window. With room 323, its directly over the entrance of hotel and pub. You hear everything. The bathroom had no fan so it fogged up easily and there was no shower gel any day, just shampoo. Overall we were very disappointed and the hotel is very dated. We will no longer be staying here when we are staying in Killarney.

comments The hotel was nice but didn't feel like a four star hotel, it seemed like it was lacking that extra touch. I think the bathrooms were rather basic and not at all luxurious. Also the tv in the room had a fuzzy reception and it wasn't a flat screen either which again let the room down a little. I also think the room had a slight smell of sewerage when I entered. I also disagree with the service charge on room service. all in all I would say more three star and a nice one but they are pushing it when they say it is four star. Staff were very nice.

comments I was disappointed with the riverside compared to previous visits. The last time we arrived we went to the room and there was two small bottles of wine, none this time. The room was next to the car park which meant that the bus that was leaving early in the morning had us wide awake. It was like cause we booked room only you were given the most basic room which has been well worn. The staff in the bar need to be livened up as well. The last time I was there they would make part of their job to talk to the customer not this time. I would have to consider long and hard before I would stay in the riverside again. In a positive note the room and linen were very clean.

comments myself and my partner stayed here for weekend in july. Rooms were spotless. staff were very friendly and we very close to town. we didnt eat in bar or restaurant so i cant comment on the food.but breakfast was really good. we were reccommended though by hotel manager where to go for a bite to eat and was nice. aslo i had treatment with the beautician that was there my nails were lovely and she was so friendly and even gave me a list of places to go, which was really helpful. will defo return.

comments I picked a 4 stat hotel as I was staying 3 nights and I wanted some comfort for my wife in particular. We were doing the Ring of Kerry cycle along with my siter and brother-in law who also stayed in the hotel. I was EXTREMELY disappointed at the lack of satisfactory response to amend breakfast arrangements for the saturday morning of the cycle in order to get a cooked breakfast early - 7 am. Compared to my friends in other hotels in town who were accommodated mast pleasantly. Eventually there were breakfast re-arrangements but there was a lack of communication with the dining room as we were advised on the morning that there was only porridge available and nothing else would be cooked. Also, if I had not approached the desk on Friday evening to try and get some arrangements - how were we going to find out about the changes?????? Only by us approaching the desk did we find out. I was surprised that the hotel did not expect these requirements with the cycle so predominant in the town and a number of residents participating. It was a big black mark for the few days and it is a shame that soemthing small like this can mar the whole experience. i expressed this when leaving the hotel and am surprised that the manageress did not follow up with soem letter / correspondence. I and family / friends will be doing the cycle again next year - I would like to use the same hotel as familiarity is always nice but this issue needs to be resolved by then.

comments We found the Riverside Hotel to be an excellent choice, within easy walking distance to town but with the benefit of being quiet despite being on one of the main roads. The rooms were of high quality and beautifully decorated. The bed was extremely comfortable and breakfast the next morning was excellent. We thought it was great to have both the buffet and menu-card options, the pancakes were delicious! I would definitely choose to stay here again in future.

Unfortunately we were staying in room 307 which is close to the noisy heating/boiler units just outside...some one has to be put near them! Why were we the unfortunate ones? Nevertheless we had a comfortable sleep and the scenery around Killarney is of course wonderful.

comments The Riverside Hotel is an excellent location on the outskirts of Killarney, within walking distance of the town. The hotel is easy to find and in a quiet location with good free parking. The staff are friendly and efficient. My room was lovely.. more homely than the big hotel chains, clean with all the facillities you could need. The breakfast is excellent with a great selection of fruit, breads, cereals and hot food. To top it off, the hotel is great value for money.

comments We had a fantastic stay here, and for such a good price! Having booked a cheap deal online we feared we'd be sidelined into the shabbiest room in the place, yet we had a beautiful room with a view of the river! Breakfast was just fantastic, they say you've paid for a Full Irish, when in fact you also have permission to eat frm the lovely buffet of Irish breads and scones, fruit, cereals and lovely fresh juices. The staff were polite and helpful throughout and made it a very enjoyable stay. The hotel is set beside a beautiful park with fantastic walking routes, with easy walking access to Ross Castle and Muckross House. no need to spend on taxis at any point here as teh hotel is located so close to Killarney town that everything is accessable on foot. thoroughly recommend a stay here and look forward to returning again!

comments Warm welcome, nice bright lobby, room was good but expected a bit better for a 4 star. Otherwise very clean and comfortable. Food was excellent, great breakfast with friendly table service. If you enjoy a drink don't hang around in the bar, better establishments nearby. Would recommend for short stay and will use again definitely. Great location for the INEC, 5 minute walk away.

comments Lacked atmosphere- lack of staff- some staff outright rude -told at check in and also in hotel info book in rooms that breakfast starts at 8am- had a busy day ahead (climbed carrantuohill- hotel in great location for this...) went to breakfast and was ignored for 20mins when i asked if i could get breakfast i was told kitchen wasn't ready and i was too early- bfast wasn;t until 8.30am on sat.... no smiles and a very poor quality breakfast once it did arrive didn't encourage me to want to return! Killarney has so many hotels i'm sure do live up to it's 4 stars- this hotel however does not and i wont be returning or recommending!

comments To whom it may concern. My expectations of the hotel were high as I have been to stay in Killarney before and always found the Kerry people to be very friendly and helpful. Not in this case. I found some of the staff in the hotel very rude and not in the least bit friendly. We didn't even get a hello or a good morning, or a goodbye, from the reception staff whenever we walked through the lobby. We found the menu for our evening meal very limited and not what we would expect from a four star hotel. We ordered the lamb which was over done and inedible. The bar was empty and no entertainment was to be provided for any guests. So we just took our drinks and went to our room which seemed to be frowned upon as when we walked down to the bar to order more, we didn't even get a smile from your staff! Was this all because we had the Woodies Vouchers and not paying the regular price?? The hotel didn't seem to be busy so I thought maybe any business is good business, and any guests should be appreciated and at least made to feel welcome. We went next door to the Holiday Inn for a lovely pint of Guinness and had some delicious food there, also the staff were very friendly and the service was second to none. I expected your four star hotel to at least match, if not excel in all of the said categories. It was my partners birthday and he was very disapointed with the service. Obviously, I would not recommend your hotel to any of my friends or family who are thinking of taking a short break soon, we shall be staying in The Holiday Inn next door. Sincerely, Fiona Morrison.

comments I had requested an appointment for a massage by email well in advance of our visit. When checking in, there was no record of it but the receptionist made the booking at that time for 4pm the following day. 10 minutes before the appointment time another receptionist rang our hotel room to tell me that my massage had been cancelled because of a double booking. I expressed dissatisfaction, then rang back a minute later to explain how dissatisfied I was and why (I had my phone with me all day but wasn't contacted until 10mins in advance; my husband and I had organised our day around the appointment and so came back to the hotel when we could have stayed in town; a major part of the reason for choosing the hotel was the rejuvenation suite, and so on). The receptionist at this point told me that there was no problem, that the appointment could go ahead, that they were just giving me the option of changing the time. I went down to the rejuvenation suite to find that the masseuse had not been told that my appointment was going ahead so I ended up having the same argument with her. I eventually got the massage I booked but it took me a full half-hour to relax into it after the annoyance over the appointment. I feel that it was handled badly by the hotel - they didn't even offer any compensation when they were trying to cancel the appointment. An offer of a bottle of wine or a deduction on the price of a re-scheduled massage might have placated me some but none was forthcoming. I was expected to just take a cancellation at short notice whereas, if we had cancelled our booking at the last moment, we would have been expected to pay some of the costs. I will not be going back.

There were a few minor things, the alarm clock/radio was broken with the plastic face resting on the floor, the chest of drawers was missing handles, the wall paper/paint was torn/chipped in places and the bedside table was really dusty. comments 'Wow, nice lobby, beautiful tree', were my first impressions as I entered the hotel on a bitterly cold December night. The spell was broken by the curt address we received from the blond girl behind reception. 'Read this, sign here, breakfast and dinner can be found over there and your room is on the third flood, lift's over there', accompanied by a wave of her hand and zero eye contact. So much for the friendly Irish welcome! The room was adequate, warm and with all the facilities you'd expect, just a bit old. But as we were paying a room only, special internet rate we weren’t complaining. If we'd paid the listed price I'd be disappointed. The room was cleaned each day and the staff was friendlier with the change of shift. We didn't eat or drink at the hotel, due to lack of encouragement, or use any or the facilities as we didn't receive any information about them, but we did come to Killarney for a wedding, so no loss there. The hotel is a 6 euro taxi ride from the town centre. I would stay again if I received the discount. Although my brothers stayed right next door at the Holiday Inn and availed of the swimming pool, sauna, bar and restaurant, had a bigger room then us and were happy with their stay bar the noise and ringing telephone. Thankfully Riverside was very quite and we'd no interruptions while we were there.

comments I was disappointed with the hotel. We travelled down from Donegal to Kerry and expected to be late enough when we checked in. When we arrived it was cold and wet outside and we were looking ofrward to taking a rest. We were shown to our room and found all the windows wide open and the room freezing when we closed the window we got a terriable smell of urine. I went straight back down to reception to get the room changed. We were move to a different room and floor. Again this room had all the windows wide open and the room was freezing at this stage we didnt care after driving 8 hours we were wrecked. We deceided to have an early night to find that the bed cover on our douboe bed was a single bed duvet. So I had to go back down to reception and get the room sorted. We had a meal in the restautant which was nice and the presentation of the food was brilliant. We cut are three day break short and left after the second night. We were very disappointed in our break as it was our wedding anniversary. We dont be back

comments I can't enough good things about the hotel and staff of this hotel, I would be happy to recommend it to anyone. It is situated within walking distance of Killarney, it is bright and welcoming with ample parking. The bedrooms as with the rest of the hotel are clean and well-kept. The food was delicious, beatifully-presented and piping hot. The staff were brilliant, nothing was too much trouble, they were friendly, polite and helpful. I will definately be going back.

comments We didn't know what to expect but we thorughly enjoyed our stay,the staff were very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble.Our room was brilliant and on our arrival we had wine left in an ice bucket as we were celebrating my husband's 60th birthday which we thought was a lovely touch.The breakfast is great plenty of choice and not rushed at all.The receptionists were helpful to as they got us a taxi and we met this taxi driver named Danny who was a great character he recommended 2 restaurants were we should try and he even managed to book us into 1 of them when they were very full and i must say they were both great. We would definately love to return again and see Chris [assistant manager] and his staff again.

comments My husband and I stayed at the Riverside Hotel for one night to take in a show at the INEC, which I might mention is only 5 mins walk away. Our stay could nt have been nicer, helpful reception staff and any requests we made were met without any difficulty. Room was a little small but fully equipped with all mod cons, got a lovely view as requested. Evening meal on our arrival night was nice, though portion size was small. Breakfast was most impressive with loads to choose from, breads, cereals fruits followed by a hugh Irish breakfast. This 4 star comes highly recommended and at a price of 110euro per room it is definitely worth it.

comments The Riverside is the best value, in my opinion, in Killarney. Cheaper than many so-called 4/5 star hotels and much much better than any 3 star hotel. Rooms are spotless, beds great, decent bathrooms. Breakfast has many options. I've stayed in nearly all the hotels in Killarney and I always come back here. Nice little bar there too for a quiet drink.

Iam not a fan of Killarney but if you're heading there I would stay at the Riverside its not expensive compared to other hotels in the area and TRY the steak its Great I promise!!!!

comments This is a beautiful hotel, nicely appointed rooms and lobby. The meal at their restaurant is one of the top ten I've ever had on the road, and I travel a great deal. The price was more than reasonable. Everything was impeccably clean. I will stay here every time I travel in the area.

comments The only comment I would have is that the family room we stayed in outside our windows were the boilers for the heating I presume we were on the second floor room 215 I think and they tended to be very noisey even during the night so that was the only issue I had as we had 2 kids with us and with the noise they found it hard to sleep

comments The treatments were excellent. Our room was lovely. There was information regarding the heating system which was hidden so the room was uncomfortably hot during the night. Our evening meal was excellent. We would certainly stay in the Riverside Hotel again and would have no hesitation in recommending The Riverside Hotel to friends or family.
