comments We had an absolutely fantastic stay. Because we were on honeymoon, we were upgraded to a fabulous suite with a sea view. We made the most of the great spa facilities, especially the hot-tub overlooking the sea and the food was to die for. I'm trying to persuade my husband that we should celebrate our anniversary each year with a stay in Parknasilla! Thank you so much. Ann & Elton Fortune

comments We had a brilliant stay on 8th January. The room was extremely comfortable, the view was so panoramic overlooking the sea in the old building. The staff are as ever very nice, helpful and professional. It would be great if the Bar Food menu could be extended beyond 6pm. Fantastic value, we'll be back!

comments Service excellent. Food average, breakfast excellent, dinner menu mediocre, duck very tough, steaks excellent. Room comfortable and had fabulous view. Leisure centre was poor, steam rooms cold, and only one outdoor tub working. The pool depth is, in my view, too shallow, difficult to have good swim. Grounds magnificent, walks enthralling. Parknasilla is a magical place and while drive from Dublin long, well worth it when you get there. Staff friendly and unassuming. Would like to see the evening menu extended and the quality of food improved. Really enjoyed stay though.

comments We enjoyed our stay with you again, the food was excellant, the staff were so courteous as usual but we were very disappointed with our room. I appreciate that we were on a good rate but the bathroom floor in room 211 had a serious crack and it was obvious that it was an old room needing upgrading, even the notepaper was Great Southern Hotel headed. We love the athmosphere as always but would make sure we had different accomodation on return.

comments Hi, Thank you for the opportunity to forward our thoughts on our recent stay at Parknasilla. We arrived on a cold frosty November Friday to a hotel with a spectacular setting. However, we were somewhat disappointed with some aspects of our stay. In our opinion, our room was a bit shabby with wallpaper marked and peeling in places. While the picturesque view over the forest was lovely, the bathroom was dated with a tiny bath, peeling ceilings and limescale on the shower head that was almost stopping the water from coming out. Also, while we appreciate that it was an unseasonally cold weekend, the bar area of the hotel was decidedly chilly and guests had to top-up fires themselves as staff rarely bothered. Also, I needed to download some files from the Internet to do some work over the weekend but the Wi-Fi was down and to be perfectly honest my enquiries about it were met with pleasantness but complete disinterest by staff. Finally, we ate in the restaurant on Saturday night and my partner's steak was only luke warm when it arrived to the table. He sent it back and the waitress arrived back to the table less than a minute later with a steak that was still the same temperature, the steak was sent back again and on its return was sitting on a lovely hot plate but was only marginally warmer! At this stage I had finished my meal. The restaurant staff did not charge for the steak or wine that evening but our birthday celebrations were certainly upset. We used the Spa on Saturday afternoon and were certainly impressed by how attractive at relaxing this part of the hotel is. Some attention to detail could make Parknasilla a wonderful getaway location. Sincerely Louise Nugent and Keith Palmer (Room 203)

comments Very Pricey Plonk (Cheap Vinegar tasting Red Wine) in Bar @€6.50 a glass and you had several varieties of this Vile sludge ( Shiraz, Merlot ..) New facilities are good But still Miss the Old Canadian Tub & indoor jacuzzi. There is something colder about the place perhaps those Curtains ( even if they were Old) added some warmth. You can see the improvement in the Rooms ( particularly the Beds). Food at Dinner is not on a par with previous owners, slow service and colder but better than Inchydoney ( but that's not difficult!) Breakfast is a real Highlight ( Excellent) . DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE PLONK ......ITS VILE ( had to go to Kenmare and buy a couple of Bottles)

comments This was a 'treat 24 hours' for us in these stressful recessionary times. Sadly, we had a very poor nights sleep due to noisy neighbours. I contacted reception at 8pm to explain that the noise from the room above us was comparable to a demonstration of Riverdance and after referencing the duty manager was offered a room move to the back of the hotel (no sea views, we declined). Our neighbours were wedding party guests who, understandably returned to their rooms late and as a consequence we missed our much needed relaxing sleep. On departure the helpful receptionist (Deirdre) kindly offered us an upgrade if we return. Shame this approach wasn't offered during our stay because Parknasilla could be the sort of place we'd return to again and again. We've put our experience in writing to Mr Jim Feeney and look forward to his response.

comments My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Parknasilla. The service was excellent, the food delicious and the surroundings idyllic. We were a little disappointed with the bedroom, feeling that a makeover was due. However, we will certainly return and make more use of the facilities and spend more time in the grounds of the hotel itself, rather than use it only as a base to tour around South Kerry.

comments Very happy with my stay. Some furniture and the bathroom in my room would do with updating. Otherwise very happy. Food was excellent. When I initially checked in I was told there was no space available for dinner which I found totally unacceptable for a hotel guest. It was only after I complained that a resveration was found.

comments The weekend package that we bought was excellent and exactly what we wanted to kickstart our mini-honeymoon. What was even better was the fantastic service from the staff at The Parknasilla coupled with the sumptuous food, the divine health spa and relaxing jacuzzi! There were loads of things to do and see as well! The only downside was the fact that our room was too hot - even when we turned the heating off. But all in all, it was a fantastic place to stay and we'll definitely come back here for our anniversary.

comments We absolutely loved out stay in the Parknasilla Hotel. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the very relaxed atmosphere in the place. The staff were friendly and chatty, eating in the restaurant was a treat, not only was the food excellent, it was served up with a smile and a lot of friendly banter. The spa was very well run, we loved the relaxing room after the treatment. On our last day we took a walk around the grounds, the views are breathtaking. We will be back!

comments We enjouyed our stay at Parknasilla, great food, great location and for the most part great staff. I was particularly impressed with breakfast and the help provided by your staff. One of the waitreses/manager in the dining room is particularly serious and while she is very efficient, she really does need to engage with customers and learn how to smile. The remaining staff are by contrast are excellent. we enjoyed our stay and given the cost of such a visit I was disapointed to see the number of children which were allowed to have a "free reign" in the bar and the dining room. At one stage we left the bar as it was akin to being in a creche. I understand it was mid term break but for a hotel of your standard this is not appropiate. These comments were also made openly by other guests during our stay. looking forward to your responce, Eddy

comments Our room was very disappointing we were on the ground floor in one of the small standard rooms. The room it self was fine the bathroom could do with some updating the main problem was that our room looked out onto a road and you couldn't relax as you were bascially on show. quite a lot of people and cars going by and looking in.

comments Hi, The big disappointment that we had was our room size. From the website we picked the Standard room over the Classic Room because we got the impression that it would have been bigger. From staying in other hotels, we would have found the Standard to have been quite small and would have fit the description of a 'box' room. It was a bit of a let-down to be honest, as the reason for our trip was a relaxing break and it wasn’t a larger more comfortable room to relax in which we expected. Also, From the window, all we could see what the side of the main building and only if we looked pass this did we have a ‘mountain view’! It was the end of the world though, and apart from that, we have a great stay! Staff were great, the grounds were lovely and the Spa and Pool area was wonderful. The breakfast was top class; it kept us going until dinner! Many thanks Adam Baker & Maree Kirby

comments Our weekend stay was a bit of a mixed bag, Maybe our expectations were too high but compared to other 5 star hotels in Ireland Parknasilla did not seem to meet the mark, example, No bottle of water in the room, an empty shower cap box, dated decor in the room, musty smell in the lounge furthest from the bar. On the positive side the Spa was magnificient, all staff were extremely friendly and courteous, the views and walks were magnificent.

comments I booked a night away for my elderly parents. When they got to the hotel, the room was not ready even though it was after check-in time. They had to wait for an hour. They asked for tea twice but it never came. This was, however, the only complaint they had. The rest of their stay was excellent and they really enjoyed the experience.

comments I found the room very disappointing. There were no shelves to put clothes on. We had to use the floor of the TV cabinet. The small fridge sitting on the floor is unsightly and should be built in. I had to try four sockets before finding one to suit the kettle plug, and then found there was no sugar for my coffee. There was hardly any water from the cold tap and none on the last morning and the hot tap was only a little better. The TV reception was very poor. All other services (food, restaurant, bar, spa) and especially the staff were excellent. Pity about the room which was slyly described as De-luxe on our booking confirmation, when in fact it was a Standard room. Yours Sincerely.

I would add we also really enjoyed our breakfast on the Sunday morning. One thing i would mention is, i left and expensive shrt in the wardrobe of the room i was staying but when i contacted your hotel they couldnt find it. I am pretty sure someone probably found it and put it away for safekeeping but i was suprised it wasn't found. in saying that i would certainly go back to saty again in your hotel if you had any special offers on. Polite and friendly but not too familiar. 2) All the lounge areas down stairs were very confortable and relaxing and met my expectations. 3) I stayed in room 108. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom sufficient but I think the furniture needs to be improved. This is the main reason I only gave a 3.

On the flip side, found the vegetarian selection of foods very disappointing (my husband had one choice only, mushroom risotto and when it was served, the presentation was horrendous). comments the place is idyllically set, by he sea and in the woodlands. Fab grounds surrounding it. The spa was extra special with the salt and essential oil treatments. The seated areas of the hotel were very relaxing. We loved it. The self catering lodges were top class too. We will definitely be back. Breda O'Malley

comments I'd highly recommend a stay in one of the seaview rooms in the new wing. They are incredibly spacious and elegant with incredibly comfortable beds. Breakfast (apart from the delicious pastries) was nothing special. Pool and spa area were fantastic but the entry times for children and rule excluding children from the hot tub need to be more strictly enforced

comments We have been visiting the hotel for oer 20 years and were told with the inclusion of the holiday cottages, the place had lost some of its charm and was overcrowded. This wasnt the case.Every aspect (apart from the entertainment duo who by sitting in the middle of the lounge while playing dreary music meant they were so close you had to pay attention). The food was gorgeous although we missed the little sweets you,d get after in the lounge with your coffee! The concierge service is brilliant (PJ) he seemed to always be there for any question and query and nothing was too simple...or not his job.We were delighted with the fabulous new spa area too...money well spent.Overall the parknasilla experience was the same as always....Ten out of a ten.

comments Servcie was slow at times, coffee & tea at breakfast had to be changed as it had gone cold, due to food had not been served on time. I noted this happened to other people on different mornings. Due to the fact the hotel is closing for major works this may have been a factor. No bar food available in the evenings, which would suit some people particularly on the evening of arrival as a full diner is to much if you have eaten on the way down to break the long drive. Over all an enjoyable stay.
