comments Good position - handy for bus and DART into city centre if you don't want to drive and park. Hotel has seen better days and is getting worn looking, but clean and comfortable, Staff friendly and helpful. Food was good and reasonably priced. Buffet style breakfast. Coffee in room was undrinkable but that may be the Dublin water.

comments Having stayed in Tara Towers on four occasions I have onlt had one negative experience. In general Tara Towers staff are exceptional, polite, friendly and very helpful. The rooms are dated but very comfortable. The hotel is very affordable, an excellent price for its central location. The majority of rooms are ideal with power showers in each. Every room has an iron, ironing board, kettle and tea and coffee, ample towels and extra blankets. What more would you need? As already mentioned I had one bad experience here but this hotel has shown me they are not to be defined by the rare negative and will do anything to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Congratulations on an excellent staff from receptionists, waiting, bar staff, kitchen, laundry. I am dead impressed, thank you.

comments When I made the onlike booking, there did not seem to be any way too specify whether I wanted a twin room or a double. I wanted a double. Of course, when I turned up, the allocated room turned out to be a twin. Staff were very helpful and found me another room, but the only room available was at the back, so we missed out on the amazing view that we hoped for (which the twin room had.) Otherwise, the hotel was very clean and comfortable for the price. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the food was good. The bar was very comfortable also.

comments Only stayed at Tara Towers for one night to bring my sister down for a days shopping treat for her birthday. The location was great with a lovely view of Dublin Bay from our room. Bus stop to city centre right outside hotel. As we arrived later than we had arranged we had our evening meal in the hotel bar and the food was beautiful and the staff very helpful and friendly. The breakfast next day just topped off a great experience all round. Would love to return sometime.

comments We are very happy with our stay at the Tara Towers Hotel and have to mention Maria (reservations manager as being most helpful and friendly towards us in a very helpful way) as we will be repeat customers attending St. Vincent's Private hospilal on a weekly basis. It is a very welcoming atmosphere for me when my husband is in hospital and I am resident on my own. He will be hospitalised in the next month for long periods and i will be on my own and I feel very secure in Tara Towres knowing Maria and other staff. Regards Anne

This is not a fivestar hotel, but we didnt pay for a fivestar hotel eighter. We would stay here again. Easy to get to the senter by bus, and easy to get to the airport too.

comments The service in the bar could be improved. I sat at the bar and asked to see the bar menu. A lady next tome was reading the menu and only when she had ordered food, was I then handed the same menu. Surely you have more than one bar food menu? I had 3 drinks and on all 3 occiasons the bar man didn't tell me how much they were. I was just expected to hand over money and he gave me the appropriate change. In my experience the bar staff should ask for the price of the drink. After my second drink I decided to order some food. At this stage a chef was behind the bar chatting with the two waiting staff and another person. When I eventually caught the barman's attention I placed my order. Only to have the bar menu thrown at me. I told the barman what I wanted again and he told me he didn't have that. Obviously throwing the menu at the guest is a new way of inviting them to change their order. I decided against ordering something else because of the way the barman conducted himself. I went to the garage next door to the hotel and bought something to eat. I appreciate you are a 3 star hotel but you are close to the RDS and several hospitality professionals (including myself) were staying whilst attending Catex. Hospitality and customer care could definately be improved. Guests are not doing the bar staff a favour by choosing to spend their money with you.

comments My son and I stayed at Tara Towers for 3 nights in Jan. 2011. We found the accommodation to be very comfortable, clean with a breath-taking view of Dublin Bay from the window. The staff were courteous and helpful without being overly friendly. One comment I will make is about the method of booking a room at the best rate at Tara Towers. As visitors to Dublin, it seemed very strange and "unirish-like" to have to book on-line to get the best rate even though we were standing at the reception-desk! We were in Dublin (from Canada) as my eldery Dad was a patient in St. Vincent's Private Hospital. This was not a holiday in Dublin, in the true sense, and it added to an already stressful situation that we could not get the best rate in person at the desk. We actually booked with the help of the wonderful Reception staff at SVPH, who were equally horrified with your on-line booking policy. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to voice my opinion, and please review your booking system with the kind of hospitality that Ireland used to be known for!!!

comments Overall the hotel was functional with no frills. The room smelled of damp from the shower, the door card kept jamming in the door and when I reported it to reception the fella just said "pull harder," it worked but is this the way that they're supposed to work? The lampshades were mismatched and one of the bulbs was'nt working, and to top it all I was charged for breakfast when I had already paid for B&B! But I did get my money back from reception. Hope this helps

comments The room had a musty stale smell and appears to have not been aired in long time. There was no hot water in the morning when i was up. I highlighted this at reception and was told that the heater had tripped out, but got no more than that on it. As a business customer the standard could be improved and i am not sure if i would use the Hotel again

comments I was very happy overall and would stay there again. The staff in the hotel and bar/restaurant were friendly and professional. The hotel was clean throughout and the room was nice and comfortable. The only comment I have is the heating system is older so it's really either off or on, no real way to adjust the temperature of the room but at least the windows can be opened.

comments Rooms were clean and comfortable if a bit dated. Requests made when booking were not communicated to staff and the general air was one of 'not that bothered'. Had to call twice from UK to speak to the Hotel Manager despite being promised a callback. Food and drink prices in the hotel bar were very expensive - restaurant was not open for some reason. I recommend guests eat drink in Black Rock (5Euro taxi ride) which has some nice reasonably priced bars and restaurants. Wouldn't stay at Tara Towers again.

comments Hotel is functional and as such I do not have any problem with it as it serves my purposes. Could do with a modest update/refurbishment - fresh paint and getting rid of some of the more worn carpets would improve appearance; where the place is shown interest and respect of its management it shows! Have not see Franceso on reception in a while, he was super friendly and effecient.

comments Very bad weather but foyer was comfortable with a nice warm fire. Went to room which was cold despite the radiator being on. Went to bar and had barfood and hoped room would have warmed up when we returned. Returned to room which was still cold. Rang Reception and informed them that room was cold and was told somebody would come up to sort out problem. Waited an hour and still nobody arrived. Rang Reception a second time and was told to come down and collect card for another room. This room was warmer. At the verty least a room should be comfortable and warm for the arrival of guests. Our stay was on one of the coldest nights with snow on the ground and this should have ensured that the room was warm. Very disappointed.

comments We booked into Tara Towers as it was close to Blackrock Clinic where my dad was in having surgery, stayed in Room only basis, got double room for €49 overlooking the sea which was beautiful, rooms clean & comfortable. We ate in the bar a few nights and I have to say the food is gorgeous, very good value & great portions. The only downside is we had to leave on the sat nite cos it was booked up & come back the sunday nite and I had been asking the girl at reception constantly from the thurs if there were any cancellations and I didn't really find her nice or helpful, (not sure of her name but she hadn’t Irish accent). I got talking to a girl from home who's father was also in Blackrock and she had just come down on the Friday and told me she had just got in on a cancellation for the Sat night also. Also when I was rebooking for the Sunday & Monday night she quoted me €69 per room per night yet I went upstairs to the room & booked it on the laptop for €49. Apart from that the rest of the staff at reception/bar we dealt with were very friendly, it’s a great hotel & we would have no problem recommending it to anyone.

comments Was on a weekend trip with my friends and i have to say considering the cheap price we paid for 3 nights, the Hotel was nothing but excellent quality. The reception area gives a great impression along with the friendly and cheery staff. The rooms are a great size and offer all the amneties you require. Maids were frequent and done a good job. Also resturant and bar area were not dissapointing either they offered great food at an affordable price. Also dont be put off by the distance away from the centre, there are frequent buses from right outside which run near enough every 10min and a taxi is no more that 12 euro. Overall a great stay and would definetely return to Tara Towers

comments I did not get to stay at the Tara Towers Hotel!! I had started out on my journey to Dublin but had to return home due to very heavy snow. I do not like your policy on payment when reserving a room on line, i.e. payment up front. A deposit should be more than sufficient to book a room. I lost my whole payment for the room due to no fault on my part. Your policy on cancellations should be reviewed.

comments It was good value, the only thing i would say is the key cards are older and I didn't know how to work them and felt bad for dragging a girl up to open the door for me so it might be an idea to let you know at the desk how to use because as I said it is different. One last thing teh shower temperature on the highest setting is only luke warm in room 204 I think I was it was. The room was lovely, the beds comfortable, the room was warm. Thank you.

comments The twin room (2 single beds) was much cheaper than a single room. Dont know why. When I rang to book the room, the price was high (€69) and the receptionist told me it was cheaper online, which it was. This seemed strange to me. I was confused about the restraunt and bar food opening times. Then again, i'm a bit slow when it comes to those things!

comments Tara Towers is a comfortable hotel reasonably priced in a convenient location. We were fitting out a shop in nearby Blackrock and needed a couple of rooms for a week at different times. We found pricing very inconsistent and it was annoying to need to chase managers to try to get the right deal. Pity as it fits the bill very well otherwise.

comments I booked a single room, but I dident expect to have to sleep in a single bed! I am an adult and I havent slept in a single bed since I was a child, so I spend the night worrrying that I might fall out of the bed. When I did get to sleep the noise from ? the boiler woke me up went on all night. Breakfast was very nice and staff were friendly.

comments Nice clean hotel, friendly staff who were very helpful. Only slight commnet would be the noise from the extractor fan and shower in the bathroom. It was very noisy and I could hear the next rooms shower and extractor very clearly meaning they could probably hear the same from our bathroom. Other than that the rooms were nicely set out and a nice view from our room. Very good value as well.

comments From check in to check out my wife and I were very impressed during our recent stay at Tara Towers. Since we were exhibiting at the RDS the location was ideal. The reception was welcoming, polite and efficient. The room was well appointed, clean and comfortable. The housekeeping was spot on and the breakfast more than adequate. Not surprisingly, we are returning next March and have recommended the hotel to our friends.

comments My stay at Tara Towers was short arriving after 9.00pm and leaving early next morning. Room was clean and bed comfortable. Only negative I would have was the quality of the TV channels and also not a great variety of channels. I also had no remote control in my room, I did ring down and a gentleman did come to my room with one but it wouldn't work. He did say he would try to locate another one but it was late and I told him it was ok. Breakfast was fine the next morning. I would have no hesitation in staying there again and it was very reasonably priced.

comments My only dislike was the breakfast. No tea served-that would be nice rather than going up and down to get everything. Also the Irish breakfast for the most seemed deep fat fried and no fried eggs. Other than that i could highly recommend the hotel. Friendly etc. Bedrooms lovely and perfect. In fact we had our wedding reception in this hotel in 1976-and what a wonderful day. Also a great day and no problems - lovely hotel.

comments the hotel, staff, bar and restaurant were good. The only issue was that the room had a strong smell of stale tobacco smoke and it was impossible to "air" the room. Periodically we could also smell cigarette smoke, we were on the 5th floor so it must have been coming from the corridors or rooms which is very unpleasant

comments The front desk at check-in was great. Friendly and professional. The rooms were spacious. There was visible dust on some or the molding, but otherwise clean and well maintained. The evening staff was not very friendly or helpful. The Pub was clean, the food was good and the staff friendly and professional. The breakfast is expensive. The Hop-on, Hop-off City Tour Bus picks up at this hotel every morning. The #4 and #7 City bus drops off right across the street when returning to the hotel. This is a simple and easy way to tour Dublin.

comments The hotel is convenient as it is near my company's office but I would not choose to stay here ordinarily. The rooms need some serious modernisation and some of the rooms have curtains that don't work properly and are barely hanging on to the rails. That said it is fairly cheap but I think the Mercer group could do better with the hotel.

Far enough away from the city to be quite (except for a little road noise) and yet excellent transport into the city (bus stop right outside). comments The Tara Towers is a bit outside of the downtown area, but the price reflects this. The number 4 and 7 buses stop directly outside the hotel. It's about a 15 minute ride to the city center, maybe a bit less. The room was quite large and comfortable, with lots of window space. For those who care (I don't) the decor was a bit stuck in the 70s and it could use some updating. The doors to the rooms had a lot a gouges and scratches on them. The best way to describe it is to say it looks as though a dog was trying to claw its way in. This wasn't just on our door, but many. I'm not one to notice or care much about such things, so the fact that I did says something. The front desk clerk, Francesco (hope I spelled it right) was simply outstanding! I've traveled a lot and I have never seen anyone as cheerfully helpful as he. He gave us directions, provided advice, and when he overhead us struggling through a map (we were within earshot of the front desk) he enquired if he could help. He even called me by name! I would stay there on my next trip to Dublin due to the good rates, nice rooms, ease of getting downtown, and for the excellent service. TIP: Buy the 72 hour pass that allows you to ride the bus and the hop-on/hop-off. We got our money's worth out of that.

comments Easy check in, good sized room though viewing TV not easy for two given that one chair was straight-backed, and couldn't fit the second chair in that easily becasue of the second, (single). Bed was very confortable. The rear view wasn't great. Getting grill bar service was difficult at first but food was reasonably priced for Dublin. Breakfast was as lavish as you wanted. Mine was! Would have appreciated potato or soda bread though but that's probably just a northern thing. Left breakfast very well satisfied. Will be there again. Very handy for public transport. Park the car and forget it. Blether12

comments We stayed in a room which had clearly not been used for some time. There were water stains on the carpet leading from the bathroom and the room smelt stale. The kettle was mouldy inside (this was replaced on request) and the hairdryer was missing (also replaced on request). The bathroom tap spluttered and was very noisy, and there was no hot water in the evening when I wanted to take a shower. I would however stay here again as I think we were just unlucky in the room we were given.

comments Hello Tara Towers, staying at your house was very homely for us. Our room was ample and bright with view to the sea. We had enough space to stay and relax from all the sightseeing. The bathroom was clean and the towels had been changed daily. The employees were very attentive in every section. We had been forced to stay 3 days longer and there were very considerating to make our situation as comfortable as possible. Although the hotel isn´t very impressing from outside and resides directly at the mainstreet you don´t hear any traffic. With bus you drive about max. 20 minutes to the centre. So all in all we would book Tara Towers again.

comments Nice view of the bay from the 6th floor. Good size room and very comfortable bed. Good public transport to the city centre, about 10 min by bus (bus stop exactly in front of the hotel). Nice breakfast. Very helpful and friendly staff. Thged only downpoint we found was the fact that walls are not really well soundproof, so you can hear your neighbours.

comments We recently stayed with you for proximity to St Andrew's School, which was a few minutes away. The staff were extremely helpful in giving directions and any other queries we had. The room was lovely, a triple with tea facilities and we very much enjoyed the fruit basket we ordered. The only negative is that the bathroom needs attention. The extraction system does not seem to be adequate as the ceiling paint is peeling from the dampness and the paintwork and tiles are also not up to the standard. We will be back again in a month's time for another night's stay. Thank you.

comments The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was very clean. I wish I had waited for a bayside room to become available when I checked in. My room was on back side of building so the view was rather ugly, but I didn't spend much time in my room anyway. Location was convenient to visit my daughter at UCD - 15 minute walk through a residential neighborhood.

comments Our expectations were high following our previous visit. This time, however, as my wife was in the Blackrock Clinic for ten days, and I was commuting between the hotel and the Clinic it really felt like coming home when I arrived at the hotel each evening. I genuinely mean this. The Staff - all sections, Reception, Dining room and Housekeeping were most helpful and caring. Some, whom I did not even know, asked after my wife's progress. The hotel has a very unique atmosphere which must never be lost. As my wife progresses now we are already looking forward to having a nice relaxing break in the autumn. We are mentioning your hotel and it's wonderful staff to our neighbours and friends and we hope this bears fruit for you. Once again, a very sincere thank you to all concerned. Regards using my name, it's not that I wish it to be used but you may certainly use it if you so wish. I can stand over everything I have said. Regards, Kathleen and Jerry Drumm.

comments I was asked if I would like a quiet room to which I replied yes. I was given room 112. This is an incredibly noisy room. there is a fan opperating without stop day and night so I could not sleep the first night. The receptionist very kindly moved me to the sixth floor which was much quieter but the fan in the bathroom is in need of servicing, It was incredibly noisy, please have it repaired along with the shower which only dribbled out. Other than that my stay was fine, thank you for allowing me to submit this review. Mary

comments Positives: Desk staff very nice and helpful. Although the hotel is generally run down, the ground floor appeared clean and appealing. View from upper floor of sea was excellent. Price was reasonable. Negatives: Room run down and definitely in need of an upgrade. Bathroom was not clean with hair on the floor - this was the biggest disappointment because this sort of thing can easily be fixed. Road traffic was loud. Dining room and day bar staff was brusque.

comments The staff at this hotel were extremely helpful particularly Francesco and Italian guy and Ivana. The could not do enought to help me when I discovered my flight was cancelled due to the volcanic ash. Ivana went on the internet several times to determine the flight status and rebook my room when it became clear that it was going to be a long delay. The rooms were fine, a little bit dated but completely adequate for an overnight stay. The breakfast in the morning was very nice with plenty of everything in a nice relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Overall I would strongly recommend this hotel and visit it again if I needed to. many thanks to all.

comments My stay at the Tara Towers was a great experience. We got to the hotel at about 8 in the morning after a long night of traveling from the states and we were not allowed to check into our room until 2 o'clock later that day. But the woman behind the counter was very nice and found us a different room that we could go to right away. The service was awsome. Also the bartender and staff were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend Tara Towers to future Dublin visitors.

comments Nice hotel, good location across the road from the sea and Booterstown Dart station. Room spacious and very clean. Bar was very quiet but had low key musical entertainment which suited us fine. Bar food and breakfast were very good. Staff were very friendly. Taxi fare to city centre averaged at 13 euro each way but Dart option is far better at 1.80 each way, trains are regular and only a 5 minute walk away. We asked for a sea view room and were quite pleased overall

Room very clean although a bit hot. every necessity provided, tea/coffee right beside the bed which was wonderful, no need to move. Although the hotel is not ultra modern it does have a lovely open, welcoming and friendly atmosphere. i would book there again

comments It was a lovely hotel, not near the centre which at first we thought would be a pain, but there were buses every 5 minutes directly outside and tickets were sold at reception. The food in the bar area was excellent and the Paton Flyer from outside the hotel was very convenient and only 14 Euros return. Would definitely stay here again.

comments A perfectly stisfactory and clean hotel. We had a nice stay, although some minor foibles: the view from the back of the hotel included the hotel roof, a/c units and a building site, the bar shut very early - However it was a comfortable and clean room, and we enjoyed our stay in Dublin immensely.
