comments What a wonderfull place to make a quick escape to the seaside. we combined a trip to the little theatre to see a brilliant play and then t to local for a very late night. We took an early bird in the redbank restaurant which was excellent and left us plenty of time to get to the theatre. The room and facilities were top class and the staff very understanding.

comments Everything was fine during our stay except for two key points which means I had to give a rating of 2 (was going to give zero but that would not be completely fair). 1. We could hear the gentleman snoring in the room next door all night (and I do mean all night) - not exactly the Red Banks fault, except that it must mean the walls are very thin. 2. But no hot water for showers in the morning was extremely poor, and when we told the woman about this when checking out all we got was a "sorry for that". To me hot water is a key and essential element of any stay and not being able to have a hot shower truly ruined the experience. And not even a suggestion of a reduction in price when we told them - extremely bad service. I have stayed in the red bank before and did have hot water and did not hear the neighbors on those occasions - hence my extreme disappointment on this occasion.

comments On the downside, I don't think the standard of cooking at the Redbank quite warrants the prices that are charged. (I know a few people who agree with me on this and we have all been more than once). It does not compare favourably to, for example, Chapter One, Dunbrody House, Aldridge Lodge or Squigl, to name a few in a similar league. I got the Louisiana style haddock, with the oddest selection of veg on the side that just didn't go with it. The meal was good, but there was nothing outstanding. Also, the staff member who showed us to our room bolted ahead and didn't offer to help with our bag. And we had been slotted into a dinner time not of our own choosing (which was admittedly changed at our request). The bedroom was too hot, with a view of a rather shabby courtyard in need of some work. On the upside, the service staff are very friendly and efficient, the decor is lovely, and the bedroom and bathroom were very comfortable, pretty and clean. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay, but this is obviously a mixed review. I think either standards should be upped, or prices lowered, but they're not in synch at the moment.

comments I recently spent 10 days in Skerries, and stayed at the Red Bank. Skerries is my hometown and I normally stay with relatives. Staying at the red Bank is like staying with relatives . I found the accommodations to be excellent and service above reproach. The staff were very attentive and the food could not have been better. The smile that comes with the full irish breakfast is enough to light your day. For those who prefer a lighter fare there are a whole range of alternatives including my favourite "Scrambled Eggs with Smoked Salmon. Being just eighteen miles from Dublin with an excellent bus and train service and with their many National Heritage Sites is within a short driving distance the Red Bank is a great center for visitors. Iexpect to return there again before the end of the year. Frank F. Wilmington, Delaware USA.

comments I am delighted that you have asked me to comment. I have provisionally booked a week with Anita for either last week in July or first week in August of 2011 - I feel that will tell you exactly how I felt about my stay at your Guest House. I have never been to Skerries and although our stay was for only 3 nights, it was memorable. Your staff are all so professional, the food was excellent and I asked the lady who served our evening meal to pass our compliments to the Chef - I found it extremely easy to speak with Anita who was ready to give us a brief history of the House and it certainly is a place of beauty and peace - long may you continue. May I take this opportunity of wishing you every success in the future and I am looking forward to staying with you again in 2011.

comments I really enjoyed my stay at Redbank Guesthouse on saturday 28th August 2010. I loved the bedroom with the beautiful antique furniture and the big bottle of water left for me on my bedside locker. It was very thoughtful. The staff were very pleasant, also. Breakfast was nice in particular the fresh fruit salad which was one of the nicest I have ever eaten. I was a bit disappointed with the muesli which was packaged but that was only a small complaint really. Well done everyone!

comments Having travelled extensively I felt the room we had (no. 17) was lovely and spacious but felt it was rather let down by the bathroom. Cracked tiles and dirty grout around the bath area. Also feel that the walls going up the stairs could do with a wipe down as they are are looking very shabby and the front of house section which is what the visitor first sees is very important for first impressions - a damp cloth and elbow grease is all it takes. When we checked out the following morning there were still dirty floater coffee glasses in the lounge area. Small things I know but they do leave impressions. The staff were very friendly and helpful and it is in a lovely position in Skerries. Good luck in the future.

comments It is a delightful guesthouse, leaving us wishing we could stay longer. Unfortunately we had only 1 night before flying home. The climb to the 3rd floor was rewarded with a beautiful room & bath. Our friends on the 1st floor were equally happy. We departed too early for breakfast but they left us a generous cold meal toserve ourselves. Dinner in the resaurant was superb, enhanced by chats with the chef. Good value for our money. We loved it & with luck will be able to return someday.

comments Redbank Guesthouse was a home away from home. Every morning, the day began well with a full Irish breakfast, and ended with a glass of water from their very own well. Excellent service and accommodation, at any price. Dublin is just a short train ride away, and staying in Skerries gives you the luxury of a quiet seaside town for the evenings. I had planned on going out west for the second half of my holiday, but after a couple of days at the Redbank, I booked the remainder of my holiday there. When I return to Ireland, I will certainly be booking the Redbank for my stay.

Only downfalls were problem with cold tap on basin in bathroom (completely non-working so obliged to go to communal water fountain for drinking water) and when I called reception from my room the call was not answered, so to order room service I had to walk to the kitchens and find a member of staff to place my order. comments Enjoyed our stay very much. The restaurant was very busy when we came down for dinner but service was still excellent & staff very nice & helpful. Breafast was lovely & again the service was excellent & staff very friendly. The food was lovely & excellent value as we got an overnight package. I would definitely return again. My only negative is that the guesthouse & restaurant could do with an update on decor.

comments It had been a few years since my last visit to the Red Bank and when I saw the offer of the early bird dinner and B&B offer for 99€ for 2 people sharing I snapped it up as it looked like a great deal. While the food was fantastic the service has lost a lot of the charm of Redbank of old. Having been seated in the waiting area we were offered an apperitif. I asked for a Kir Royale and was served a Kir. When I queried this I was told I'd asked for a Kir. The drink was not changed. Disappointing when you see the menu prices. The meal was outstanding and is the only reason I've scored this a 3. Without the quality of the food, the service and B&B would have scored much lower. The room in the B&B was ok. In need of a make over and had been patched up in several spots. The worst part was having had breakfast (which was delicious) we returned to the room to shower before check-out and there was no hot water. Again when I approached the staff the response I got was 'oh, sorry about that'. So my advice is if you want great food and are prepared for less than friendly service then take a visit to the Red Bank, but most definitely stay elsewhere!

comments guesthouse excellent value for money, centrally located and ideal if you wish to stay within driving distance of the airport while anjoying Skerries as a wonderful seasside location.A friend and I dined in the restaurant, the entrees were quite good as was the main course rack of lamb which my friend dined on.However I ordered a fillet steak which was served not as ordered but overcooked and swimming in a rich mushroom based sauce. The sauce had far too much salt in it.Terry McCoy,the proprietor asked how the food was and when I highlighted my dissatisfaction with the main course,he apologised and that was it.The restaurant is overpriced and overrated, however tyhe accomodation is worth recommending.

comments Dear Sir/Madam Would like to commend the Redbank Guesthouse for a wonderful stay on Friday the ninth October. Beautiful room and wonderful amenities. Unfortunately! was in receipt of a parking ticket the next morning totaling forty euro, which later learned that was supposed to pay the night before and have on display the following day. Just a suggestion! Would it be possible for the Redbank to issue permits to the residents of the Guesthouse. Find it odd having to leave a restaurant or trying to mentally calculate how long I intend to remain within the confine of your establishment. Failing the parking permit, Do feel that it should be emphasized to residents on arrival of the current arrangement. A memorable experience, none the less. Regards Ian

comments Overall, we were pleased with our stay at Redbank Guesthouse. The check in was difficult as no one was at the restaurant and the door to the inn was locked. We finally followed someone else through the restaurant, who was looking for the receptionist, and found her. The other problem is there is only on street parking at 1 euro per hr. until 6 P.M. It starts up again at 8:00 A.M. We ended up parking at the playground, which is probably over a half mile away, and walking back. So, had to walk to the car in the morning to load up the luggage. Our room was very nice and the breakfast the next morning was probably the best we had during our two week trip. The receptionist was quite helpful with directions, which we appreciated.

comments We had a pleasant peaceful stay in Redbank. Everything was clean though bedclothes were not ironed and no one asked us if we needed anything. Toilet seat was broken in toilet when we arrived and was still so when we left - maybe we should have asked for assistance. All in all we had a pleasant stay and the weather was perfect for end of September. Would probably stay there again and probably eat again in the restaurant although we were disapppointed not to see Mr McCoy

comments The room was comfortable and the village was very pleasant, but the reason for making this my first stop this trip to Ireland were memories of the restaurant from 7 years earlier. They were very accommodating then to a family with a six year old son; they were equally good to an individual travelling by himself. The service, however, pales in comparison to the quality of the food. I shall be back when I am next in the country (I am Canadian so it is not that frequent an occurence.

comments I wanted a lovely place to stay our last night in Ireland, but within driving distance of the airport. Redbank G H was charming, just as represented on the internet site. Everything was very efficient and exactly as I had requested. My son and I wanted a room with twin beds on the ground floor (I use a mobility scooter), and we got exactly that, with no errors. The restaurant seemed very popular and full, but was too pricey for us. However, we enjoyed the town and harbour, and a good night's sleep. Even the wake-up was precisely as requested! I highly recommend it and Skerries. Grand time and an amazing bargain on that particular occasion. Thanks!

comments Chose Redbank because of positive feedback on Tripadvisor. Anita gave us a nice welcome, the room was comfortable & clean. Met the owner/chef who was very friendly & the dinner was very good, the rack of lamb exceptional. B'fast was good but the coffee tasted as if it had been brewing awhile. Our room overlooked the back courtyard area which had an uncared for air - a pity as with a little bit of care & attention could be quite pretty. Loved Skerries, a delightful little town, quiet & very clean with an excellent gastropub on the harbour - 'Stoop your head'. Dublin Bay prawns to die for.

This was our first time in Ireland and we stayed at the Redbank for our last two nights after a short break at Easter. We had the Sunday lunch as it was my daughter's birthday and it was superb. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. The Redbank is situated within a couple of minutes walk of a wonderful beach and the locals were also friendly. We wished we could have stayed longer and hope to return in the summer.
