comments Clean and updated--excellent value!! Great location just a five minute walk to the DART station which is only two stops from City Centre. Also just a short walk to Sandymount's and Ballsbridge's fine restaurants. The front desk staff are very helpful and the breakfasts were among the best of our three week holiday throughout Europe. Would definitely return again! Nice to see an independent family owned hotel compete successfully with the big boys.

comments All went well with our stay at Sandymount Hotel on night of Irish /Scottish match at Lansdowne Road. Hotel extremely well set up for crowds who all obviously enjoyed facilities provided post match. Staff all helpful and professional at every point of contact ie reception-good welcome; dining-lovely meal/good service; spacious, comfortable, well service bedroom/bathroom. All in all excellent hotel in heart of Dublin. We will return. Left next morning early for proximate Swift ferry to England for short visit to London and then on to Cheltenham Racing Festival. The English hotels could learn a thing or three from Sandymount Hotel with regard to coping with large volumes of visitors for special events and giving value for money in a professional manner.

comments We were pleased to see that the name change to Sandymount Hotel is the only thing that has changed since it was the Mount Herbert Hotel. The hotel is still the very friendly, professional and personal place that it always was and it remains excellent value for money.

Overall I would stay here again, the hotel is ideally situated - two stops on the Dart to the center, but in a quiet enough area. The room was reasonably priced and the hotel was welcoming. I plan to book at The Sandymount Hotel for future visits to Dublin.

comments We stayed in this hotel for the Ireland vs Wales match.. excellent location 2 mins from the stadium and great atmosphere on match day. The front desk staff were very helpful and allowed us to switch our triple room from a double and 1 single to 3 single beds when we arrived. parking is very handy and they also made a great recommendation for a resturant to eat dinner. All and all very good value and excellent location!

comments Once you walk into this hotel, you are welcomed by the girls at the front desk who were friendly and genuine throughout our stay. The room was modern, clean and very comfortable. The night staff were also very pleasant when we are arrived back in the early hours of the morning. The girl on checkout was very friendly and chatty, the staff are definitely an asset to this hotel! The hotel is situated beside the Aviva stadium and Sandymount dart station. You can also walk down to the o2 and convention centre in roughly 15 minutes. Its in a great location I would stay here again.

comments Having stayed at the hotel last year I had no hesitation in booking again. Both stays were with different family members and all were very pleased with the experience. Our visits to Dublin were stress free partly due to being able to leave the car in your car park and use the excellent rail link nearby to be in the City Centre in just a few minutes. We shall certainly wish to stay with you again should we make any further visits to Dublin.

comments Really enjoyed the stay. Was in the area for a match at the Aviva and the location couldn't have been any better. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the room nice and comfortable. There was a great buzz around the bar before and after the match and I'll definitely be booking a room there the next time I'm over for a match.

comments We stayed at this hotel as we were attending the aviva for the dublin super cup. The location of the hotel for the aviva is brilliant as we had a young child who had to walk. The room was fab, spacious and very clean. Bar Food was also great. We honestly could not fault this hotel and would book again and will recommend to our family and friends.

comments This was another chance to stay at the Hotel but the first since the name change. Sandmount Hotel seems a good choice to us, and signage to the Hotel is very helpful. Staff are always helpful and being 'walking disabled' I found great understanding off my needs. Thoroughly recommend the hotel for a good base for leisure or business stay in Dublin.

comments Excellent value for money (£144 for evening meal and bed & breakfast for 2 people), beautiful food, very friendly staff and clean sizeable rooms in a great location right beside the Aviva stadium and only a five minute DART ride from central Dublin. comments My friedn and I stayed at Sandymount Hotel for 3 gloriously hot days in very sunny Sandymount in June this year (2011), We found the staff exceptionally helpful and friendly, not only during our stay but before and afterwards too: our flight landed in Dublin at 9.30am, but our reservation at Sandymount was for 3pm, however we were assured we would be able to leave our bags as soon as we arrived, not only did the staff honour this prior agreement, they also managed to let us book into our rooms early, making our arrival as easy as could be!, they also accomodated our luggage on our final day after we had booked out, for us to collect later prior to flying home! During our stay we found all staff to be extreamly, friendly and helpful, the food was excellent, rooms comfortable and clean, with the most users friendly showers we have experienced in an hotel!, Even the owner took a personal interest in the reson for our visit, which wa to trace my family tree, he gave excellent advice and support and we would both like to say, we love Sandymount Hotel and all its staff...we will definatly be visiting again, and would recomment this to anyone wishing toi visit local areas, or Dublin itself - only 15mins away from Dublin city centre on the Dart train, 10 min walk from Sandmount strand and just around the corner to Avia stadium!...what more could any visitor want?!!..Enjoy!

comments I had read the reviews of the hotel on trip advisor before I had booked. We were travelling from Northern Ireland and only staying for one night for an event on the 02 Complex. I have no complaints of the hotel whatsoever. The standards are vey high - the food is good and the rooms are all very modern compared to a few hotels I have stayed in , in Dublin. I would advise anyone who is travelling to concerts or events in the 02 or the RDS / Ballybridge area to stay here. The RDS Arena was only a five min river walk away and has lots of lovely cafes and shops around it. Thank you and Yes I would stay here again . 10 out of 10 in all respects.

comments The Sandymount hotel is extremely handy to Ballsbridge with lots of pubs and nice eateries nearby. Booking online was simple and straight forward The hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful. The room was great, recently decorated to high standard and very clean. The bar and restaurant were of a high standard. The hotel itself being housed in a number of old houses is a littel quirky with long winding corridors but that just adds to its charm. comments The food was excellent, we had 6 course valentines meal that we really enjoyed and the breakfast was also very good the next morning. The disappointing side was our room. The television didn't work. We told reception this at about 4pm and she said she would get someone to fix it while we were out. When we came back it still was not fixed and told reception again. She told us she sent someone down who said it was working fine. After dinner we went back to our room at about 11, the television was still not working so we told somoeone different from reception, he came down and confirmed it was not working and at that stage at 11pm moved us to a new room. Both rooms we were in, were also very cold.

comments I stayed in a twin room with my mother. The room was very cold. The sheets felt damp. There were no blankets on the beds just duvets. There was only one blanket in the cupboard so only one of us could use it. The room was very plain. Sheets and pillows all white. The television advertised was barely visible - very small on a very high shelf in the room. I have stayed at this hotel twice before and never been disappointed until now. I won't be choosing this hotel again.

comments I recently, (Feb. 3rd. to 7th. 2011), enjoyed another short holiday at the Sandymount Hotel, where I have stayed regularly for the past twenty years. The Hotel is in a nice quiet part of Dublin, handy for a stroll along the river Dodder to Ballsbridge, adjacent to the Aviva Stadium, and the DART (train) station for the city centre. The hotel rooms are clean,warm,and modern,plenty of hot water,spotless beds. The staff are very friendly,helpful,and loyal,especially behind reception and in the dining room,where you get a wonderful buffet breakfast. All the Staff and the Hotel are a credit to Mr. John Loughran and family.

comments My stay went well. I arrived very tired from a long drive and had a bar meal. Selected for location, secure easy parking and previous comfortable stays at a reasonable price. I did have some difficulty finding the hotel in dark and street signs were difficult to read. So if it were possible to have more direction signs in immediate area?

comments Me and my Girlfriend had an extreme enjoyable, relaxing and memorable stay. We stayed for just 1 night but were treated with a smile and every request was met. comments During a very busy week-end which included two major games at the near-by Aviva Stadium my wife and I stayed at Mount Herbert. We found everything about this hotel to be excellent, staff, accommodation, facilities and location all excellent. So much so that at lest one staff member who just called into the hotel for a pre match gathering and found a very large number of customers had the same idea, immediately went to work in order to ensure that customers were facilitated. Very impressed.

comments We had a lovely stay at The Mount Herbert Hotel. The hotel is lovel and clean, offering free internet access so that you can keep in touch with home. We stayed in one of the executive suits. These are both spacious and clean, offering a plasma screen television and a huge bed. Night times were peaceful as the hotel is far enough away rom the madness of the city. The hotel is situated 2 minutes walk away from the Dart station. This allows quick, cheap and easy access in Dublin City Centre and also a convient way of exploring further south. We are already planning next years stay. Thanks for a lovely stay. I cant reccommend it enough.

We had a beautiful dinner in the restaurant before going on to a show in the Grand Canal Theatre and then next morning, a great selection of food was available for breakfast. comments The stay was fantastic, we availed of a special offer which included 1 dinner and 2 nights b&b. The staff were unbelievably friendly and helpful, and we were met by the hotels director himself to make sure everything was ok. We will definately stay again, as the location is perfect (2 minutes from the Dart), the rooms were lovely, and the food was great. The special offers really make the hotel appealing to young couples. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

comments We found this hotel a few years ago and while we have tried one or two others we much prefer the Mount Herbert. Its location is ideal (whether it's for shopping, sightseeing or in our case going to watch our dog run at Shelbourne Park).The staff are very helpful and pleasant - we brought an elderly relative over with us who was wheelcair bound and the staff were all excellent. The rooms are clean and the foods good -what more can one ask!!!

comments We had not stayed at the Mount Hebert before and therefore did not know what to expect. I had also booked for freinds who were having the break with us. This made it all the more nerve racking hoping I had made a good choice. Why did I/we worry, the hotel could not have been better. Good size rooms, very clean and well decorated. Thje staff were very helpful and actually allowed us to book in 4 hours early as they had our rooms already prepared. The hotel is within easy walking distance of numerous bus services into the town and very near the Dart. The hotel is a little way out of the centre but this is a bonus as you can leave the hustle and bustle and noise behind you and return each time to a quiet residential area. We had a wonderful breakfast each morning which went on for at least an hour and a half, we didn't want to stop eating!! Good job we were doing a lot of walking. There were plenty of lounge area's and the bar was large and drinks well priced. The owner of the hotel was very visible and always ready to chat. Thankfully my friends were equally impressed and thought I had do a great job of picking the Mount Herbert. I would gladly reccomend it to anyone who wants to be equally pleased. We will definitely return here when we come back to Dublin.

comments This was my fifth or sixth stay at the Mt Herbert. It's a very comfortable hotel in a very pleasant setting--a mature and attractive suburb. The sea is only a few minutes' walk away in one direction and you get into town either by the nearby DART at Lansdowne Road or on foot along some of Dublin's most famous and evocative streets and squares. The rooms are spacious and spotlessly clean. The staff are friendly and professional. It's a family owned hotel with none of the nasty chrome and plastic finishes you see in hotels that are part of a chain. John, the owner-manager, does a superb job and is always approachable and keen to listen to his customers. The food's good and they pour a decent Guinness in the bar!

comments I was very pleased with my stay at Mount Herbert.The rooms were clean.The staff were courteous and helpful.The hotel restaurant was excellant.gourmet quality food at pub prices.Mount Herbet is out of the way from Dublin city center but an easy walk to the DART.I would definitely stay there again.

comments Even with a map, after a tiring day, it was extremely difficult to find Herbert Road. We couldn't see a place name for Landsdowne Road at the Ballsbridge end and the person who answered the hotel phone couldn't give us directions. I wonder how many others call to the Herbert Park Hotel by mistake? Better road signs would grealy help.

comments Our room was small but exceptionally well furnished. We were very happy with the service. Our only difficulty was in getting to the hotel from the airport. Perhaps good directions and transport suggestions would be helpful.

comments I satayed at the Mount Herbert Hoterl with my teenage daughter. We used the hotel as a base and ate at local cafes and restaurants. The hotel was excellent. Clean, quiet, courteous staff. But best of all was the location. It is a pleasant walk down to the sea through leafy Ballsbridge, and the DART and buses into town are a short walk in the other direction. I know and love this part of Dublin and will definitely stay at the Mount Herbert again. It is great value for money.

comments I booked 3 triple rooms in the hotel, attracted by the reasonable price (Euro90 per room). My expectations therefore of the hotel were not that high so I was very pleasantly surprised when I arrived as were my friends. The hotel was very attractive from the outside, clean & the staff were very helpful & friendly. Its close proximity to the Lansdowne Dart Station was an added bonus. We did eat in the hotel from the evening menu which was just okay but that would be my only complaint. We were very impressed with Mount Herbert & would defiately reccommend it.

comments On arrival at the hotel, the staff were to busy chatting to check us in and then when they did check us in, the didn't direct us to the room but left us to wander around to find it ourselves. On arrival at the room it was a small dingy smoky room and we had requested a non-smoking room. When we told the receptionist we were unhappy we were told no non-smoking rooms were ready and we had to wait. Luckily when we checked into our new room the room was much nicer and much more spacious. Also the bathroom facilities were lovely and the shower was really powerful!! We went to the concert and on return decided to go to the bar for a few drinks, on ordering our second drink (11.50pm) we were told that last orders had been called and it certainly hadn't. After seeing on the website that the bar closed at Midnight i was surprised and questioned this to be told that I was wrong, they were right they weren't serving me and that he'd worked there 6 years. When I told him I was a customer and that the website was incorrect he wasn't bothered at all. All in all, nice room, staff on our checkout were friendly but a little more customer service wouldhave been appreciated.

comments The facilities were adequate and it was quiet. It appeared a good deal compared to the prices of other hotels. It was in a leafy suburb in a posh area. It was close to the DART and was the only realistic option for public transport as it was a good 20 minutes off the main road and bus routes.
