comments Only problem I had was to actually find it. Once found, it turned out to be the perfect place to stay a couple of nights. I got a room to the back, very quiet. Room was clean, bed was clean, reception was good. Best thing happened in the morning: breakfast in the french café with fresh baked bread. That alone a reason to come back. It's a good place to stay for a few nights, central location, good people running the place, clean bed and bath room, simple but fresh breakfast.

comments I was happy with my stay at the Grafton Guest House. The reception is no longer in the building but only a short distance away. Only issue was that the safe would not lock and I chose not to call the assistance phone number, so no dramas. Thanks for a nice stay.

comments The room was clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. The location is perfect. We could walk everywhere and didn't need to use buses or taxis. Tea and coffee were provided in the room. A substantial continental breakfast was served in a restaurant across the street. It included delicious bread, a fresh fruit salad, yogurt, pastries, cereal, juice, coffee and tea. A hot breakfast was available, but you had to pay extra for that. I was very pleased with my stay at the Grafton Guesthouse.

comments We knew if was a very average guest house and we were concerned about tripadvisors comments about noise from the Hogans bar but because we stayed on Sunday night it was quiet thankfully and I would definately recommend for a budget overnight stay. It suited our needs as the price was reasonable. It was very clean also. We were very impressed with the breakfast, lovely French restaurant, close your eyes and you could have been in Paris.

comments The location of Grafton Guesthouse is absolutely perfect for being able to walk to most things in Dublin. We stayed for three nights (during the Queen's visit) and found the reception folks very polite and accomodating, the room itself was very clean and comfy (great pillows and linens which surprised us for a "basic" place to stay). Breakfast was plentiful and staff always courteous when greeting guests first thing in the morning.

comments Cosy rooms, nice bathrooms and a great breakfast. Only you should have isolated the windows so the heat does not slip out the few hours it is on in the daytime and evening. With a modern isolation you could save a lot of money on heating and still keep the rooms warm. Very nice staff (at the Kelly and the reataurant). Good atmosfere

comments Georges Street is quite loud and so we had difficulty getting to sleep. Other than that the room was clean and tidy and the beds were very comfortable. I was disappointed when the receptionist directed us to O'Connell Street to take a bus when the bus actually stopped right outside the Guesthouse. Lucky we looked at the bus stop as we walked past on our way to O'Connell Street.

comments Stayed at this guesthouse for a weekend, it was a great location but we did not have a car so I am not sure what parking would be like. The room itself was adequate. The electrics in the room I would be a little concerned about as the hairdryer went red hot when I turned it on. When I called reception they advised that there was a hairdryer in one of the presses. There was no sign or notice on the hairdryer of the fault. The socket under the kettle did have a sign on it to use the other socket to the left. This is a busy area & the noise from the street can be quite loud at times. The room was clean, warm & housekeeping staff were friendly. For breakfast we have to leave the guesthouse & go across the road, it is not far but you do have to leave the guesthouse. Staff were adequate there. The breakfast is good, hot food is extra. Overall we liked this guesthouse because of the location.

comments We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We found it to be very conveniently located near the Temple Bar area, Dublin Castle, Trinity College, Powerscourt, St George's Arcade and other shopping. We found the staff to be helpful and acommodating. We ended up taking the "penthouse" unit with stove, fridge, dishwasher and laundry. The breakfasts at the French restaurant G... (hard to say and spell) were very good. This restaurant is featured in the Lonely Planet. The stairs were a bit much if you're hauling a lot of luggage and it was a bit confusing at first to go to Kelly's upstairs for reception but we would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends!

comments Staff all very nice, room but hotel generally rundown and needs re-decorating. Room OK once I'd settled in but in bad state of repair, with broken plug socket, broken dormer window, broken sink plug chain, several bulbs broken and safe key initially missing - a lot of that would have been easy to resolve before I'd arrived. Also I was given loft room when I requested quiet room, but actually its very noisy in the rain. Having to think about this stuff or chase it up is the LAST thing you want when moving into your hotel room.

comments This is a very good value for accommodations in the center of Dublin. The rooms were large, clean, and quiet. Lots of hot water in the shower. The entrance to the hotel is a little disapointing, but the convenience to everything, and the friendliness and helpfulness of the hotel staff makes up for it. The breakfasts were very good.

comments The hotel itself wasn't bad. It was a little run down looking in some areas, but was clean and comfortable, overall. Our biggest issue with our stay was the location. The hotel does not seem to be well-insulated, and we could hear all the street noise loud and clear. There appears to be a night club across the street, so at night we could not sleep from listening to all the partiers entering and leaving the club. I'm not sure if the back rooms are any quieter, but if you stay here, definitely request a back room instead of one facing the street.

comments On the positive side, the location is great for walking to any number of Dublin sites. And the breakfast was very healthy, although no surprises. On the negative side, the service was poor to non-existent, street noise was really hard for sleeping and the killer was dragging suitcases up three flights of stairs. These are lodgings perhaps best suited for the younger crowd who travel just with a backpack!

comments It's a well-run, good-value business. No doubt about that. However, my room on the top floor had a really massive low beam. Since the room was rather small, that meant I had to be mentally preoccupied with the darned thing the whole time - well almost: I did bump my head a couple of times a day on average.

comments Having travelled in Europe before, I knew what to expect from this type of guesthouse and was generally very pleased. The room was clean and fairly quiet despite its central location. The included breakfast was varied and generous. The location was perfect for siteseeing in town - not far from all the major sites. It's very close to the tourist information office and to the trains and buses making it an excellent jumping off point for day trips out of the city.

comments While we found it clean and the beds very comfortable, we were dismayed by the fact that the kitchen was not available for use in the penthouse suite. We had chosen to pay significantly more for that room because it was advertised as having a kitchen, so we could save some money by preparing some of our own meals, so we lost a bit of money there. It is also pretty noisy in the attic room of the penthouse, but not so much in the bedroom. Fortunately there was a fan, which was a thoughtful touch. The location was great, and the breakfast good, but you had to pay extra for any hot food. However, the continental was probably the best continental I've had, with some great pastries, cheeses, and fruit compotes added to the usual cold cereal fare. I'd recommend the regular rooms over the 'penthouse' as the bathrooms are dated, the kitchen isn't available behind a locked door, and the rooms are hot being at the top of all those stairs.

comments Your location is excellent, but I felt that the guesthouse was run by a phantom as we never met anyone but the women in reception across the way and there was no phone number given to call if we needed anything. The room was fine. I think you did a great job with the small bathroom and really liked the shower. The room was comfortable and the lounge was a really nice place to sit and relax. It was cooler than our room which was pretty hot because I guess we were there during an Irish heatwave.

comments Reception is in a separate building (Kelly's Hotel), and the hours are limited, so it can feel a little desolate...But the room was clean and satisfactory, the breakfast (at the restaurant L’Gueuleton) good, the staff helpful and friendly, and the location is excellent. Not only are you in the heart of the most exciting part of Dublin, but there is a laundromat down the street and a 24-hour grocery store around the corner. No, it's not a luxury hotel, but if you are on a limited budget and don't mind climbing stairs, this is a terrific place to stay.

comments I have stayed at Grafton Guesthouse on four occasions over the past decade and found it to be comfortable, convenient and economical. The fact that you can take the 16A bus right from the airport to the Guesthouse doors is an added bonus as is its central location in Dublin. Top marks from me. comments We stayed in two different rooms at the Grafton (at the front end of our holiday and then the back end). The first room was on the 3rd floor and very cramped (as Americans, I guess we're used to bigger rooms). The second room (#8 on second floor) was just right with room to move around and a full bath. Both rooms were very warm and we had a hard time regulating the heat. Early in the week, the pub across the street let very rowdy crowds out about midnight. In spite of these issues, the place was very tidy and comfortable. I liked that there was a sitting room on the second floor to go read in if one of us was having trouble sleeping. Showers were powerful and hot, a rare find and much appreciated.

comments My daughter and I liked very much the central location of Grafton House near Temple Bar and many restaurants. We enjoyed the nice breakfast weith good dark bread and freshly made fruit salad. Our room was ok. However the remote control did not work and the light above the washbasin didn't work either. There were some items left in the cupbord from the previous inhabitants of the room like paper bags etc. Therefor I suggest you intensifie the control of the rooms to see if everything works properly.

comments My partner and I have stayed at Grafton House 3 times and this was by far the worst. The physical premise was tired-looking; reception was next door at the newer Kelly's Hotel. Our room was, for the first time, street-facing and we were up for hours from the noise (the volume was substantially the same with the windows open and closed!) In the evening the water was turned off for the whole building; we weren't alerted and were not provided with a substitute (e.g. bottles for basic washing / tooth-brushing) until we called and specifically requested something. We were brought some water in a dirty-looking (although likely clean) dish tub. The following morning the hot water in the building was not working. Again we were not alerted until we called reception inquiring. At this point we were offered to move to a room in Kelly's hotel. We declined as we had plans for the day. The upshot: breakfast at the restaurant across the street was efficient and tasty.

comments Graftonhouse is located in an old building that would need some refurbishment and a better insolation. Rooms and bathrooms are clean but, the house is extremely noisy and we did not have hot water the second day (for which we had a 20E discount). Overall, a good choice because central and nice breakfast but one should prefer to spend the night in the brand new Kelly's Hotel (same owner) next door.

comments Our first night was cancelled even after arrangements had been made to pick the keys from Hogans pub next door. We called to say our plane was delayed and were assured that should we arrive before 2:30am our keys would still be available for pick up. We arrived at Hogans Pub for 1:30am and our keys were not left for us; only to be informed that our first night had been cancelled and that the manager was not about to leave her bed to give us the keys that were supposed to be at the Pub awaiting us. We were informed that breakfast was served until 11:30 am, only to be shocked on Monday morning (as we stayed over the weekend) that the breakfast was not served after 10:30am. Grafton House stay was made miserable by their lack of customer service. IN fact Grafton GuestHouse is NOT value for money because the Hotel that we finally ended staying at was cheaper, freindlier and more comfortable than the Grafton! it was alled The Abingdon and I'll tell anyone I can find to go there, and if I mention the Grafton at all, it'll be only to complain if they're lucky.

The place was spotless, the breakfast good and the room quiet though. As I say, the best thing was the helpfulness of the staff. The location was also fantastic - as it was so near to temple bar and all the central areas. The only negative comment I have relates to the attitude of catering staff. I felt that their mood was quite sombre and there was no chat but it felt as if we were straining them to ask for breakfast. The food was brilliant but I feel this is the only area for improvement of the overall service. A smile goes a long way!! Thanks

comments This hotel was extremely well located, very convenient to sights, restaurants and public transportation. The room I had was cute and attractive. A bit of noise from heavy street traffic, and the bathroom is a bit tight. The breakfast was great, the staff was fine. I'd probably try to find something slightly cheaper next time.

comments The service is inadequate. There is not always someone on at the desk and reception opens only at 8:05 a.m. or so. This was awkward for us as we had to catch a morning flight. The first room we had was not well lit and the noise from the street was very loud. The room we had on our second stay was well lit and there was less noise. The client lounge was most often locked.

comments The Grafton Guesthouse was in a perfect location to walk anywhere I needed to in Dublin City. Although somewhat small, the room was clean and had sufficient amenities, so it met my needs well. There is no air conditioning, so that was a bit of an adjustment but not unbearable. The breakfasts were good. I would stay there again.

comments The hotel is very centrally located. I stayed in a single room for one night and a double room for another and they were both clean and gorgeous (the water pressure for the huge showerheads should be improved though). Wifi works smoothly as expected. Excellent breakfast (eggs cooked to order) served in a comfy dining room. Very friendly and helpful staff. I won't hesitate to recommend this cute boutique hotel to anyone.

comments As very often, the place looks better in its website as in reality. I had a much too small room on the backside of the building, with a terrible view on other buildings. The backside should have meant quiet, but there was next to the window some sort of air conditionning machine which was very loud and went on and off all night

comments Superbly located for the centre of Dublin; everything within walking distance. Dated decor, but spotlessly clean and wonderful breakfasts. Very relaxed. Just be aware that if you're looking for a quiet early night this won't be the place for you due to the proximity to the nightlife outside, but if you are looking for a clean and convenient place to lay your head after some wonderful Porter, and want a late breakfast (until 11 at the weekend), you can't go wrong.

comments I stayed in a single room at the rear,so not very noisy apart from air -conditioning units.Cleanliness was fine, but grouting needed to be replaced between floor tiles in the shower room.On second morning,we were served toast with a pot of tea [1 cupof tea each] The main breakfast arrived 20 mins later. My friend would have liked a 2nd cup and I told her to ask for it --this request was refused. She asked for and was given a pot of hot water which she diluted the original pot with. Having stayed 2 nights and paid over 400Euros, I thought this was quite mean --especially as the main meal was so late ---we would not have required a 2nd cup of tea otherwise.

comments I was traveling with my family: a group of six women ranging from 15-73. The Grafton Guesthouse was a good choice. The location was excellent. We were able to get there by the aircoach from the airport and walked there (about 10 minute walk). We had a little trouble finding it at first, the sign is small and the entry unobtrusive. The reception is up two flights of stairs. We rented two rooms, one double and the penthouse. The Penthouse was large, had a fully equipped kitchen and bath. Everything was very clean and the linens crisp. It turned out to be a great choice for us. The reception is not staffed in to the evening hours, so you need to conduct any business or requests while they are there.

comments A pleasant guest house in the heart of Dublin that allows immediate access to all that you would want to see and do in the city. Rooms are clean and airy and there really is nothing that you cold want more at this level of accommodation. Beware of the stairs - if you are on the top floor, they are a long way up after a day and evening in the city.

comments We stayed in B&B's the entire time in Ireland. The Grafton house was fine, but it was my least favorite. All other B&B's had hosts that were much more hospitable. The Grafton house is in a prime location but it was very noisy which made it very difficult for me to sleep. My husband had no problems sleeping through the noise however and he found the beds very comfortable. The Grafton House should be considered more of a hotel than a Bed & Breakfast. I probably would not stay their again but that is because I was expecting something with more of a "Bed & Breakfast" feel.

comments My boyfriedn and I stayed at Grafton Guesthouse for 4 nights in March for his 30th birthday and St. Patrick's Day. Having read mixed reviews we really didn't know what to expect, but decided to stay at Grafton based on the location. I am so glad we did. The location is ideal - the bus from the airport stops directly outside of the hotel, and it is within walking distance from absolutely everything! while we were there the reception was understaffed, but nevertheless, breakfast was fantastic. The room was clean and the decorations give what could be a simple small hotel a wonderful funky ambiance. There is definately some street noise at night, but nothing more than you would expect in any city, and the fan provided in the room largely covered any bothersome noise. We had a great time, and would highly recommend the Grafton house. It is a great place for the price and the location truly cannot be beat.

Close to some great pubs and night clubs, and very convenient to all the main shopping attractions. The Penthouse suite was excellent. It is very spacious and tastefully decorated. It also is conveniently kitted out with stereo, tv etc. I will definitely recommend it.

comments The room, though on an upper floor, still had some street noise late in the night. We did need to depart early and they were not able to make an early breakfast. Otherwise, the breakfast on the other day we were there was good. There is a laundramat about 10 meters down the street from the hotel which is convenient. There is no early check-in, but they were able to store our luggage and let us use the breakfast room to eat our lunch items. They also had the morning papers to read. Nice touch.

comments Grafton Guesthouse is a really nice place to stay in Dublin! Rooms are confortable and reception employers helped us with little (but important, for us!) details, as finding a courrent transformer. Thank you very much, hope to come back soon!!!

comments Lovely guesthouse, I stayed in a single room in the attic, it was a cute small room with a big roof beam in front of the window, it had everything I needed. Great service, friendly staff and I would recommend this place to family and friends if they would plan to visit Dublin (which I would also highly recommend!!!)

comments excellent location, stepped of the 16a bus fom the airport and you are practically outside the door. only five minutes away from temple bar night life, but not hugely noisy. We stayed in a room at the back of the building which was quiet, but could anticipate that if you were allocated a room at the front of the building it would be noisy as on main road. staff were extremely friendly and service great. breakfast was spot on. would recommend the gratfon guesthouse to anyone travelling to dublin.

comments The hotel is in a great location and the rooms were nicely decorated. However the bathrooms were very tired looking and could do with being replaced. If you don't mind a hotel which is a little rough around the edges then I would recommend Grafton Guesthouse.

comments The hotel was lovely and clean and the staff were very helpful. The rooms were of a good size and had everything we needed for a few days in Dublin. The location was also good as we were close to everywhere the only thing was that it was quite noisy, lots of sirens and general street noise, think that double glazing would be a good investment! Apart from that it was excellent!
