comments We stayed in Dublin during tha latter part of February. The weather was cold, windy and wet. OUr room was warm and cozy and the perfect retreat to reurn to after a day outside. I recommend the hearty Irish breakfast and a pint in the Knights Bar.

comments Your bar prices are very expensive. After Starters & Main Course in the restaurant, we waited about 20 minutes for a waiter to ask for a dessert order - none came so we decided not to bother. When we asked for the bill we had been charged full a la carte prices even though we had clearly ordered under the "Early Bird" prices - the Maitre d seemed to swan around doing nothing very important. Despite this, we found the Castle to be very welcoming and friendly and would certainly stay again.

comments From the check-in procedure to the housekeeping staff, everyone was very helpfull and genuinely friendly. We thoroughly recommend the food and it was very easy to get to the city centre via bus (approx 4 euro per couple). We thorougly enjoyed our stay.

comments Staff attitude was not fantastic. Locked minibar even after having spoken to reception. The restaurant menu was limited and not as good as made out to be in the hotel advertising. The restaurant showed a lack of care in terms of the level of dust on drapes and some paint work looked grubby and in need of redecorating. Generally service was poor.

comments I am always ready to feel dissapointed when i stay at any hotel but i was pleasantly suprised (as was my partner!) with my reaction to Clontarf Castle.This wasnt just a very tasteful and elegant place to stay but somewhere with a great atmosphere too.There are very few hotels i would choose to spend my evening in .The eclectic mix of people,surroundings and standard of service in both the bar and the restaurant were excellent.Because of this we chose to spend both our evenings in Dublin here and looked forward to returning home!! after a days sightseeing in the city.Our meals in both the restaurant and the knights bar were delightful and we were not subjected to paying over the odds for them either.I would have no hesitation in recommending the castle as a my top tip place to stay in Dublin.I would also urge the management to give their staff a pat on the back for their subtle and skilled manner in contributing to this. comments Firstly I would like to congratulate you on your staff who were extremely helpful, polite and attentive. The room was excellent too. This was a gift to us from our son and there were a few very disappointing things I feel you should be made aware of. When we arrived we found it extremely difficult to find somewhere to park. There was an auction in the hotel which I believe caused this and also made the reception area very noisy and busy - making it difficult to find somewhere to sit to have afternoon tea. The most disappointing thing however to be told that the Farenheight Restaurant was not open on Sunday nights and therefore we had to eat in the bar. I would like to comment that the meal was excellent but we would not have chosen to eat where we were dominated by a very large screen showing football. With the noise that goes along with this, it was not the quiet meal that had been intended by our son when he booked the hotel. This fact is made worse because on the Saturday I had phoned the hotel to make a reservation for dinner and stated precisely that I wanted it in the Restaurant and not the Bar and was not told that this would not be possible. As I have stated this was a gift and it was our choice to go to Clontarf. Had we known that the above was going to be the case then we would have chosen somewhere else. We feel that the advertisement that definitely stated that the offer included a meal in the Restaurant was misleading and actually untrue. We did made this known when checking out and an allowance was made for the extra we had to pay on our bill - our drinks and afternoon tea were removed. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to comment on this. We are not difficult people to please and would not have made a complaint except for this. Thank you Brian Coulter I have to say that

comments Hotel/Castle was stunning upon arrival with both old and new features which flowed beautifully throughout. Lots of little nooks and cranies to explore, sitting areas to hide away or unwind. Bar area was full of atmosphere and charm with open fires, and lots of choice for food and drinks. We had a room on the 4th floor which was a little awkward for my 6 foot ++ tall husband but as we spent so little time in the room this was fine. I made the booking for my husband's birthday which I stated in my booking, the staff had very kindly sent a beautiful slice of cake on a decorated plate with Happy Birthday to our room which we both thought was a really lovely gesture. Thank you for making our trip a very pleasant and memorable stay. Have already made further booking to return.

comments We had booked a family room with a cot. There was no bath - just a shower which was difficult with a 3year old and a 1 year old. I discussed this with reception when we saw the room but the only other family room was adjacent to the function room so we were told it would be noisy. We were on the third floor above th function room and were kept awake late into the night on the Tuesday as there was a wedding on with loud music palying. Not an ideal location for a family room. ?maybe the function room needs sound-proofing?

comments The room was lovely although the view over the recycling area was not the best but we didn't spend our time looking out of the window so it wasn't really a problem. The big bed was great, the shower too. We had the early bird menu in the restauarant & that was lovely, the service was good too. We enjoyed the lively bar area although during busy times service could be a bit slow. However all staff were friendly & seemed happy in their jobs. comments Accommodation was superb and easily accessible from Dublin International Airport, and the staff were extremely courteous and helpful with providing an additional night's accommodation, printing off boarding passes, etc. I have recommended Clontarf Castle to my mother for her next stay in Dublin - high praise indeed!

comments A little gem, just outside of Dublin. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating, particularly with any dietary requirements. We were a little disappointed we couldn't eat in the Fahrenheit Grill as it was closed due to it being mid-week and it was quiet. However, we were pleasantly surprised to see that the menu was being offered in the Knights Bar. Our only real disappointment was that when we arrived we were not booked in, even though we had booked 6 months prior, this could have been a disaster had they been fully booked.

comments Overall the experience was very good. The room was very quiet and comfortable, breakfast was great and all facilities used were high quality. I am not going to give a 5 rating on the basis that the check out process was vague and slightly frustrating. The two members of staff on the desk were not clear in what they said and I found that I had to ask several times for clarification regarding the shuttle bus and taxis. Not the best not to leave on but a good stay nonetheless.

comments We have stayed in Clontarf Castle on at least three previous occassions and as a result went back this january. service was very good as usual although one of the beds (we had requested a double) was far from satisfactory and we passed this on to the receptionist upon our departure. The rooms were not as clean as previous visits and this area could do with improvement. Syrely a shower cap is part of room service but on this occassion not so. Location is excellent and we would go back but please tidy up the rooms

comments Went to Dublin for 2 nights and before booking I was weary of staying abit out of the area, but it was SO worth it!! I have no words to describe how amazing the castle was - but ill try - Clontarf Castle is absoloutley stunning, classy and has its own amazing character! Ive stayed in many top hotels around the world but this by far is the best place I've ever stayed because of its originality and character and its perfect for a couples retreat! its really homely and the way the interior has been decorated is absoloutly phenomenal. the food in the knights bar was lovely and not too pricey also! transport to dublin was dead easy as theres a bus stop right outside that goes directly into dublin town centre and a taxi is only ten mins away! apart from that its a walk down the road to the sea front and theres some pretty nice restaurants near by! we got an upgrade upon request and the bed was proper comfy! all the staff there were SO helpful and friendly also! all in all i'd 100% go back and recommend this hotel to everyone! it really has the wow factor!

comments The food at Fahrenheit Grill was very good and the early bird evening menu made it very reasonably priced for great quality. Breakfast was included with our stay and we enjoyed the buffet a lot. The room was very nice although the view was awful! Fortunately we weren't spending hours at the window, The only other slightly annoying feature was the lights in the bed head that came on when you turn on the bed side lamp. This means that if you are sharing the bed, one person cannot have a light on without disturbing the other! Overall, however, a very enjoyable stay

comments I was a little disappointed when I arived that the reception staff were a little aloof. We were left waiting to book in even though the guy on reception had clearly seen me.The reception area was lovely but the rooms did not live up to the medieval theme and i was disappointed they were so modern.We couldn't close the curtains properly because the curtains and linings had become loose from the pole.The plastic cups in the bathroom were also a new experience...it was the first hotel i had been in that hadn't provided glasses. We had a lovely meal in the restaurant where the member of staff couldn't have been nicer. The experience could have been improved if other staff were as friendly,we passed at least three at reception when checking out.Not one said good morning or acknowledged us until we spoke to them. Definately expecteda better experience.

comments Loved the atmosphere at Clontarf, everything is very clean and beautiful. Breakfast was delicious, wi-fi in the room was great, and for the Americans, they even have a plug that will fit our devices! Also an easy drive from the Dublin airport. If we come back to Ireland, Clontarf will be first on our list!

comments What a wonderful destination! The staff was extremely professional and helpful. The rooms/beds were very comfortable. One thing though, our room was at the end of the hallway near the elevators. There were events going on downstairs which could be heard up on the fourth floor. One suggestion would be to close the always open doors when events are scheduled. Nonetheless, we truly enjoyed our stay and as a result, we have given The Clontarf Castle's website to all of our friends.

comments only comment was the shower. Ask after first night to look after because of spraying water over glass wall. Not done. Also not after 3 days. Gave this already as comment by paying bill. Not entirely your matter, but comment this to the cab company. At arrival (announced you time and flightnumber) but had to wait approx more than half our and had to make 3 calls. At departure I ordered taxi at frontdesk (at approx 08.00) for 09.45 Taxi came at 10.00. We were very satisfied with our stay in the reastaurant. Breakfast and 2x diner. Desk is friendly and helpfull. For the rest: we spend most of the day in Dublin centre. Greetings Peter van de Weert

comments The Clontarf Castle is a great place to stay. The public areas are breathtaking, the rooms are fantastic, and the food is just excellent. It is a short cab ride from the airport, and very convenient to downtown Dublin. I stay there each time I go to Dublin - if I can get a room!

comments My fiancé and myself enjoyed our stay at Clontarf Castle. It has a nice location and the Hotel is clean and comfortable, with excellent rooms. The staff were courteous and managed to check us in early when we arrived. A few negative points, the milk in our room was off and when we phoned reception to inform them, they made us ring the retaurant and no-one bothered to answer the phone, therefore 'no cup of tea'. I changed my wake up call from 6.30 am to 6.00 am at the front reception desk but the wake up call still came through at 6.30 am. Overall a pleasant experience, would I go again??? Without a doubt.

comments Absolutely fabulous place. The hotel Foyer is spectactular and a lovely place just to sit and chat. Stayed in a suite and they incorporated the old with the new so well! The bar had a real buzz about it and food was great! Loads of little nooks and crannies to sit if you want to get away and read a paper or something.

comments What a fantastic hotel! The hotel has an amazing job of blending the castle building into the rest of the luxury hotel. The Knight's Bar is fun and a very upscale pub, but true to a pub's roots. Everyone I met in the staff was courteous and helpful, and the location just outside, but very close to Dublin, made it a great spot. Easy to get to/from the airport as well. Everything about our stay was great. I had been there for a week for work, then my wife came over for a week's trip around Ireland. We didn't have a place to stay our last night in Dublin, so we came back to the Clontarf Castle. We enjoyed a last few drinks in the Knight's Bar. What a great experience and you can be sure we will stay at the Clontarf Castle if we are fortunate enough to be able to come back to Ireland! Thanks, jim

comments We stayed in Clontarf Castle for one night for our 1st Anniversary and were not dissapointed. I had been emailing back and forth to the reservations team with a few special requests as to which room we wanted and to have a few extras in place for our arrival and they delivered perfectly much to my wifes delight ! The ambiance is stunning with the lobby based around the aincient castle tower keep and it has been draped in thematic drapes showing part of the history of the place - very tastlefully done. TIP - if you intend to eat in the restaurant at the weekend book your table before arrival as it gets busy ! Food really good too and the staff were very helpful and polite even when ubder pressure with many orders ! Overall a great expierence and would really advise this as a great alternative to the hussle and bustle of the city centre holels, whilst still being within 10 minutes of the centre by car or public transport Thanks again Henry

comments Beautiful hotel, comfortable bedrooms (particularly the matresses - memory foam pillow tops!!) and courteous staff. The hotel is in a quiet residential area just 15 minutes from the city centre. The food is delicious and reasonably priced and the rooms are all beautifully decorated My husband and I spent three nights at Clontarf Castle for a mini honeymoon and felt pampered and relaxed throughout our stay. We would highly reccommend this hotel to family, friends and colleagues and will definitely stay there again when we next visit Dublin.

comments Fantastic hotel with friendly helpful staff. Bedroom comfortable and well designed. All the bars especially the funky Indigo lounge are really great and bar food is excellent. Had evening meal in Fahrenheit grill which was delicious and a great setting. Breakfast here was very nice all fresh and well laid out. This is our 2nd visit and we will return and stay again.

comments Recommend staying at Clontarf Castle while visiting Dublin. Staff was courteous and helpful. Cost of room was reasonable and the stay was better than a regular hotel or B&B. Room was clean and spacious. King size bed was very comfortable. No noise made for a peaceful sleep. The hot and cold breakfast buffet was plentiful. The Bar was a great place to have a snack or drink before bedtime and reasonably priced. Instead of driving, we took the Hop on and off bus, which came by the front door of the Castle at 0900, and it took us touring around Dublin. The Bus is the best way to see Dublin. Although the bus did not return back to the Castle, we took a cab back to the hotel. It is a minimal cost since the Castle is so close to downtown Dublin. If you are driving, it only takes about 15 minutes (depending on traffic and if you don't make a wrong turn) to get to Airport from the Castle, and there is an Esso gas station right next to the Airport Car Rental companies, so you can get fuel before you return car. We will definitely recommend to our friends and family and will stay there again if we return to Dublin.

comments I arrived with my partner and the minute we arrived we loved every minute of our stay and didn't want to leave. We have decided to return at a later date, yet to be decided but hopefully very soon. We also gathered some brochures and are planning on treating our parents to stay a couple of nights also. A special mention for Fergus (one of the waiters) as he served us many a time and was nothing but excellent in his service and attitude, and very friendly and helpful indeed. I also work for a tour operator and will 100% be recommending customers and colleagues to experience your hotel. We couldn't have wished for a better room and was exceedingly satisfied with our room (310) would like the same room on our return please. comments I expected a nice stay and was not disappointed. It's really quite an impressive-looking place (the views on the inside are just as impressive as the views of the outside). The room easily met my expectation. I didn't order breakfast or eat in the restaurant, so I can't speak to that aspect. Overall, we had a very nice stay and I would recommend Clontarf castle as a nice place to get away.

comments We really enjoyed our stay at Clontarf Castle and it definitely lived up to our expectations. The only fault was in the restaurant when we ordered our food the waiter seemed very confused and didn't know the soup of the day etc. However, when the food came it was lovely. The rooms were very nice and the beds very comfy, could have done with a biscuit with our tea but apart from that overall the experience was very good.

comments Hi There, I would like to report that my stay at Clontarf Castle was fantastically good. The whole operation is very high class. The staff were attentive and couldn't do enough. I was in a very nice room but it was an adjoining room and a family with small baby moved into the adjacent room. The noise was bad from the baby crying next door and was quite loud through the adjoining doors. Without hesitatiojn, your staff switched me to a superior room on the top floor with two Queen beds. My wife joined me the next day and couldn't believe the castle, the amenities and the room. Breakfasts at the castle were excellent day in, day out as was dinner and lunch when we dined in. I am please to advise that I will be staying with you again next year for about 10 days and am already looking forward to it. By the way, the fact that you have plenty of free car parking is a real boon for me. comments To stay in a castle with so much history in my opinion was a perfect way to end my vacation in England and Ireland. My trip was to finish off my research on my family history which goes back several hundred years .The service was excellent, the staff friendly and the room was great. The food was also very tasty. The decor and the artifacts represented throughout made it an interesting place to stay. The only thing that I would like to see is a room or section in the tower to represent what it was like hundreds of years ago and to go to the top of the tower for a panoramic view.

comments We really enjoyed our stay at Clontarf Castle, the room, food and staff were all lovely. it was really relaxing beak and is in a good location for touring north Dublin. Just a note to be cautious of breakfast times during the week, the breakfast times stated in the hotel information book was inaccurate at the time of our stay. So as a reminder double check with reception the night before. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it once you dont mind getting taxis to restaurants and to bars as there isnt really anything within walking distance.

comments From the moment we walked into the lobby, the staff were friendly & extremely helpful. We were attending a wedding and all day/night the staff were courteous & couldn't do enough to help. Breakfast was self service which was excellent as you took what you wanted and could go back for more. The rooms were decorated to the highest standard & the bed was the most comfortable one I'd slept in any hotel in Ireland or Europe. The price for 1 nights B&B for two people was excellent value & well worth the stay. Congrats & keep up the good work.

The place is awesome with rooms very nicely decorated, pleasant to stay in and quiet. We upgraded to a suite at a very good rate and loved the pampering. We took the dinner deal as well and quite frankly, I thought it was a little cheesy because we couldn't use the regular menu, but another one that had limited selections for entrees and wine. The food was excellent though.

comments Das Castle Hotel ist ruhig gelegen und trotzdem zentral am Rande von Dublin. Mit dem Bus gelangt man bequem und günstig in 15 min. zur City. Das Hotel und somit auch die Zimmer sind nach der Renovierung neu und gut ausgestattet. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. comments Excellent stay in a spectacular setting, sat by the log fire in the dramatic reception with knights in armour and the grand entrance before heading into the bar to be greeted in a friendly Irish manor, The meal was delicious with a couple of pints of guiness. The room was impressive with a four poster bed and veiws over Dublin bay. One of the best hotel experiences we have had in Ireland and I have already recommended Clontarf to many fiends.

comments I had originally booked a room in a quiet location away fromt the lift area but on checking in Ifound I had the room next to the lift ! However when i went to reception to ask for a relocation the staff could not do enough for me, a memeber of staff even showed me a Suite that i could have at a very reasonable price which I immediately accepted. During my stay the staff were amazing they were so friendly and helpful !! the hotel was outstanding but only down side is that there is no Spa facilities.

The location is also great - it's outside of the hustle and bustle of Dublin, yet only a cheap taxi ride away from the city center. Das vor ein paar Jahren von Grund auf renovierte Hotel ist in einem sehr guten Zustand und liebevoll dekoriert; in allen Nischen, Ecken und Kanten sind gemütliche, kommunikative Sitzecken eingerichtet. Das Essen und der Service lassen keine Wünsche offen und sind durchaus bezahlbar. Praktisch ist die besonders günstige Verkehrsanbindung: Mit dem Bus, der nur 400m vom Hotel abfährt bzw. ankommt, ist man innerhalb weniger Minuten in der Dubliner Innenstadt (Linie 130). Insgesamt: SEHR EMPFEHLENSWERT!

We arrived at 630 in the morning and the hotel staff went out of there way to give us a place to shower and clean up even though our rooms couldn't be ready until noon. Throughout our stay the staff was top notch the rooms and hotel was immaculate and the beds were outstanding. The breakfast buffet was awesome. I have stayed at great hotels all over but this had to be one of the best. When I return to Ireland I will definitely stay here again.

comments We stayed at the Clontarf Castle Hotel on our last night of our 10 day trip to Ireland and couldn't have been more happy with our stay. The hotel is BEAUTIFUL, tremendous job melding the old world castle with contemporary design ( I want those cool spiraly looking chairs in the lobby). Our room was large, the bed comfy and the neighborhood is charming. The Knight's bar serves up a great pint and one of the best sandwiches I've had in my life (Grilled Ciabatta, add spicy chicken). The hotel is also really convenient to the airport. Supposedly there is a bus that picks you right up outside the castle to take you into the heart of Dublin but we didn't use this service since we were only there for one night. I guess the only downfall would be there's not really any other pubs, restaurants or shops within close walking distance but that was fine with us again, because we were only there for the one night and were content with the hotel bar and restaurants.

If there are any improvements to be made we would have only one - being so far out of Dublin a hotel minbus/shuttle service would have been appreciated. Also we felt some of the reception staff were not as helpful as they could have been. when we were needing to book trips etc. We felt as though 'it wasn't their job'. I even sent compliments t the chef as our vegetables(which can be very average in alot of restaurants)were absolutely beautiful. The indigo lounge was closed throughout our stay which did become annoying. Although the room was cleaned and well stocked the beds were not made properly. Although the duvet was straightened out and pillows placed we found the sheet had noteven been smoothed out and was crumpled as it was when we woke up. Minor mistakes but basic too.

comments My best stay in Dublin area so far! Very lovely hotel with helpful and pleasant staff. One of the most comfortable beds I've slept on. Great meal in the restaurant and a great waitress too, she made the meal even more enjoyable. Just an easy bus ride to/from Dublin City Center and a nice pleasant walk to the seaside promenade. I booked online sveral months in advance and got a great rate with breakfast (which was good too). Cheaper than in Dublin City Center. Would stay again and recommend. Enjoy!

We at at the Fahrenheit Grill on two nights and the food and service was excellent. It was a 10 minute bus ride to the City centre but the service was regular and cheap. Great place to stay out of the city to relax but close enough to be a tourist. Will definately come back again. All the staff were excellent

comments The entire experience for myself and my wife was one of absolute satisfaction, total enjoyment, and it we left with a never to be forgotten feeling. Your staff, all of your staff, at every level could not have been more courteous, and are certainly worthy ambassadors of your beautiful establishment. They made us feel as if they wanted to do their utmost to make our stay as pleasant and memorable as possible. Never did we get the impression that it fell into the realm of being part of their employment, so they had to do it. This was our first time, and with God's help, it will not be our last time. Clontarf Castle, a magnificent experience.

From check in to check out evrything was perfect - the bed was the most comfortable I have experienced of any hotel I have stayed in, the staff were friendly and attentive and the interior is visually stunning. comments upon arrival told the most helpful receptionist it was my husbands 40th birthday and within 10 minutes of our arrival in our room 2 slices of fab chocolate cake with strawberries and cream were delivered to us to wish my husband a happy birthday. A small touch but never the less much appreciated and started off our stay nicely.

comments We really enjoyed our stay, the greeting on arrival was friendly, the hotel itself if fantastic, beautifully decorated and well maintained. The room was a good size and the bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in. We ate in Knights bar and the food was lovely with a good atmosphere. Overall a great stay, I would definitely recommend to a friend. We got a very good advance purchase rate on the hotel website and if those rates continue I will be back again soon.

Very pleased overall - Lovely hotel with fab interiors.

comments We had four rooms at the Clontarf Castle Hotel in mid October. The hotel itself is lovely, great incorporation of new and old. We saved this place for our last night in a 2 week vacation and it lived up to the billing. Rooms and beds were great. We tried both restaurants during our stay - the Knights Bar for lunch was okay, but the formal dining for supper was fantastic. Our waitress was very attentive and the food was easily some of the best of our trip. Knights Bar for drinks after was the perfect top-off. Would definitely recommend the hotel and would stay again the next time we're in Dublin.

The welcome we had was amazing, the bed even had rose petals and a card on arrival. The castle was like out of a fairy tale, our room was beautiful, the food delicious and such perfectly helpful and friendly staff. Gavin was particularly helpful as he gave us all the information we needed to have a fantastic experience in and around Dublin. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone and it was a delight to have started married life in such a beautiful place. We were that impressed that we have decided to book a few days back at Clontarf Castle for our 1st year anniversary next year! Location is about a 10 minute drive from the touristy Temple Bar area which allowed us to enjoy all the city life yet come home to a nice quiet residential area to have a great nights rest. comments I was very unhappy with the lighting , most especially in the bathroom. Why spend all that money on lovely tile etc. and put in a very unflattering and cold feeling overhead light. I realize you are trying to conserve energy however there are many other ways that could be achieved. For instance, do away with the headboard lighting on the beds. comments Clontarf is just as described -- charming inside and out with a truly excellent fine dining restaurant, a fun and popular pub, and an eclectic bar. The staff is friendly and helpful, particularly the concierge team and the restaurant staff. We chose to eat at the Castle several nights because it was better food (and value) than eating in Dublin. Getting to and from downtown is every bit as easy as they claim - a 5 minute walk to the bus station, produce 1.8 euros per person (we didn't realize you need exact change the first day, so the bus driver said "get on anyway and you owe us next time") and you are at Abbey Theatre one block from the main street in about 10 minutes. The buses stop coming back at midnight, but that turned out not to be a problem. The room was clean and functional with upscale appointments and a spacious bath, but the real joy of the Castle is partaking of the common rooms, which incorporate lots of touches from the original building everywhere you turn -- don't miss the little stone nook with seating for 5 just off the seating area outside the bar or the "japanese garden" outside the formal restaurant. Had to do a little business while there, and connecting to the wireless internet with my computer was easier than in any hotel I have ever been in. Truly a wonderful experience and there is something very special about having a "refuge" to return to at the end of a day of sightseeing and treat yourself a bit. The only thing I would change: The hotel advertises spa treatments -- these are actually at a place 2 bus stops down the line. They should arrange to have the spa folks come and do treatments at the hotel for an additional fee a couple of days in the week.

However as we had booked a package complete with evening meal, I had not thought I needed to book the restaurant and on arrival was informed that as there was a wedding in the hotel, there was no dinner availability for us. The receptionist rang the restaurant and we were told that if we could wait until after 9 o'clock we could be served in the restaurant. This suited us as we had travelled from the North and were prepared to wait but this may have been unsuitable for many. The room was very good and the meal and breakfast the following morning were excellent. I would definately use the hotel again.

comments I booked the room, dinner and breakfast in a package. The wine we had with dinner was not included in the price, but considering the quality of the food and room it was very good value altogether. The dinner comprised mainly of a stunningly large steak. This was great, but unfortunately I had no room left for desert. The only bad point about the dinner was that there were a couple of screaming kids at other tables. That’s not the hotels fault of course, but if you’re looking for a romantic meal, book your table for after the kid’s bedtime. The plan for after dinner was to wander around the hotel and soak up its ambience. However, the bed in our room was incomparably luxurious, so as soon as we laid down upon it we simply could not get up again. It was the best bed I have ever slept in, bar none. In fact, it's worth staying here just for the bed.

comments We were received with warmth, courtesy and efficiency on our arrival; we were offered a special breakfast deal which we accepted. Staff was kind and efficient; we took advantage of internet in the lobby area and felt free to use that service; our rooms were clean and spacious and decor was above average. We did not have a good view from our winder but perhaps that was because we were using the lowest rate. This rate was a real bargain compared to what we had experienced in Florence and Rome; we enjoyed our meals at the castle, especially the breakfast buffet, fine fare and well served; the castle itself is a treat; the restaurants were first class; a brief visit to the Indigo our last day, July 17, was made pleased by the flexibility and hellfulness of the waitress; we plan to return to explore the Fahrenheit restaurant

comments We LOVED staying here. We upgraded to an executive suite which had a little alcove for the baby's crib. We were initially placed in a smoking room, even though we had requested non-smoking but were immediately relocated once we informed the front desk of the mistake. The breakfast was outstanding- all kinds of juices, meats, fruits, yogurts, eggs, sausages (black/white pudding is NOT pudding like what you are thinking... it's meat!). Bed was very comfy. Close to bus route and several restaurants. Was a lovely experience.

comments Very enjoyable stay at Clontarf Castle with my fiance. Had beautiful meal in Fahrenheit Grill. Hotel staff very helpful and friendly. Hotel set in quiet area of Dublin, yet only 10 mins away from city centre by bus/car. Would thoroughly recommend Clontarf Castle for short break.

comments Beautiful hotel, great bargain! The only diappointments were that the restaurant was closed, and the bar drinks were ridiculously expensive. Otherwise, we were thrilled with our stay - it IS a castle, after all! I would recommend this place to anyone.

comments Clontarf Castle Hotel made our experience of Ireland so magical and enjoyable. We were treated and felt like Royality. Thank you to all the staff who put the meaning into customer service. Their website does them no justice. The size and ambience of the rooms and facilities were not at all expected. There is no better way of exploring the history of Ireland than by starting at the Clontarf Castle. Was so enjoyable, we extrended for another night with no problems. And PERFECTLY located. Near the beach front, 5 mins drive from city centre and not to mention Howth which is picturesque on it's own! Thank you again for a wonderful stay.

comments Fantastic stay, and what a brilliant construction this hotel is, part old Castle part ultra modern and it all works so well. The rooms were very high spec, clean and a very comfortable bed. We ate in the Knights Bar, had the Chowder starter and no main after Elaine the bar manager advised it was a meal in itself. Elaine and her staff were all very professional, efficient and friendly, a real credit and asset to the hotel. I have to rate this hotel very highly and would certainly recommend it to anyone, be it for business like us, a wedding or a romantic getaway.

comments THE HOTEL WAS EXCELLENT. ONCE WE FOUND IT, IT WAS ONLY A 5 -10 MIN DRIVE TO THE CITY CENTRE. THE STAFF WAS KNOWLEDGBLE AND ALWAYS HELPFUL. THE REST. AND BAR AREAS WERE TERRIFIC - WE TOOK THE BREAKFAST PACKAGE ON ARRIVAL AND WOULD RECOMM. THIS OPTION. comments What a delight it was to stay at Clontarf, a truly up to date hotel based in a lovely old building. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome and comfortable by all staff. The facilities at the hotel are all excellent combined with a wonderful atmosphere which ensured we had a relaxing weekend break. The position of the hotel is perfect as it is really close to the sea and the City of Dublin. The public transport was brilliant, easy to follow and well priced- the 3 day rambler ticket even included the airlink bus. We cannot praise Clontarf highly enough and would love to return.

comments For my mums 50th birthday we recently stayed for 1 night at Clontarf Castle hotel. The hotel itself was beautiful, the room was great and very clean. After shopping in Dublin we came back to the hotel and had something to eat in Knights bar in front of a roaring fire, it was heaven, could of stayed there all night. The staff were so friendly and we really did feel at home. So impressed I'm going to book another few nights at the end of jan (1 night just wasnt enough)!

comments I was at a wedding in your hotel, and would pass for good the service was. Our only problem was that beside our roon #9 was a fire door. and im aware as a fire man the need for fire doors. The door kept slamming shut all night waking us up. it could do with a better system for shutting thanks

comments The hotel is absolutely beautiful. Somewhere special to stay and I wouldnt hesitate to come back. The 130 bus journey is convenient but a trek. Next time I would get off at castle avenue first stop and walk up the lane . Its only a 5 minute walk. A street map beforehand would have been useful.

comments on arrival at the castle i requested a upgrade to a suite, of which i was offered free of charge, this did mean our room wasnt ready until 3pm, but it was worth the wait , The staff were very helpfull, providing us with free drinks for our weight, and v jay the concierge deserves a medal that man was a angel!!! the most helpful and friendly concierge i have ever met. we will both definately be staying at the castle many times again, its positioning is perfect too, but recommend the bus journey into city centre, it is short convenient and you get to see some great scenery en route. my only grumble would have been room service, dirty dishes etc not being removed, but im sure, they would have jumped to it, if id rang reception.. just an over site i think .

comments pleasantly surprised that after the refurbishment that this castle is one of the best around. Great service, great food in the restaurant, both old style and fashionable bars makes this an ideal get away with no need to leave the building. The rooms are modern but old style with romantic 4 poster bed. The only thing missing would be a garden, but due to the location that was expected but you do get a seafront close by.

Kleinigkeiten, wie Kaffee und Tee auf dem Zimmer, fanden wir vor allem Nachmittags sehr nett. Das Bett war wie eine kleine Wolke und wollten das Hotel kaum verlassen. Das Frühstück war sehr auswahlreich und lecker. Fazit: Wir würden jederzeit wieder in dieses Hotel buchen und können es nur weiterempfehlen.

comments Clontarf Castle is a beautiful hotel situated just outside of Dublin City centre, only a ten minute journey by the local buses which run every fifiteen minutes, seven days a wwek. The staff were all extremely helpful and the concierge was wonderful, giving us directions, local infomation and arranging connections with the tour buses. The breakfast buffet was superb and we had a delightful stay overall in Dublin. Many thanks to the Clontarf Castle team and the hospitality of the local people.

comments This castle is very modern inside. It has some decor to give you the idea of a castle. Loved the headboard. It had some lighting in the headboard. Everyone there was very couteous and helpful.

comments The room was pleasant, clean, and a good size. It was quiet despite being above the main hall where I wedding was being held. The staff was pleasant and the breakfast was exceptionally good. I would highly recommend the hotel and would stay there again. As to location, the hotel is only a 10 Euro taxi ride or a 2-3 stops on the DART to the center of Dublin.

comments When we arrived - the front entrance was just as pictured and it just got better as we entered the lobby - suits of armor, stately wooden chairs, and a large welcoming fireplace. We very much enjoyed our stay - and would definitely recommend The Clontarf to anyone heading to Dublin. We liked being a few minutes outside of the city where time was a little less 'hurried' and the surroundings more 'genuine'. The castle is situated in a rather nice neighborhood / area. The rooms are very well appointed, ours was quite large (a Double Deluxe - courtesy of a 'complimentary' upgrade), the restaurants were all good to very good. Our favorite would have to be lunch or dinner at the Knights Bar with a very close second being breakfast at the Farenheit Grill. The only disappointment was in the fact that the castle had no 'grounds' to enjoy or visit. We did however, take in a somewhat spooky, but surely steeped in history, cemetery just a block away - a tall ivy covered spire beckoned to us from our rooms' view (so cool!). Declan and Vijay were wonderful resources at the concierge desk and the front desk staff was equally warm and accomodating. Definitely a most enjoyable stay!

comments Great hotel!!! It has apparently been newly refurbished (our room had a plasma TV). Extremely friendly staff. Comfrotable beds with high quality linens. Quiet location (cost us about 20 Euro from the airport) however it was close enough for us to walk o the city center (even though they have city buses that can get you there faster). Much better than we even expected and we are used to staying at JW Marriots and Westin hotels. We highly recommend this hotel. I'm sure it will be the highlight of your trip as it was ours.

comments Really enjoyed our stay. Friendly staff and the concierge was a mind of information and was very genuine. We ate in one of the bars and the food was good if not a little overpriced. Unfortunately our hotel deal included a free upgrade but apparently there were no "better" rooms avilable for which the hotel staff did apologise. Did receive a complimentary bottle of red wine in our room and 10% off food and drinks bill so that was good. Overall I would recommend staying at this hotel which is definitely full of character.

comments Overall, our stay was great. This hotel is very close to downtown and in a great location. We had high expectations and some of those were not met. I found the hotel focuses on weddings and large functions, sometimes at the cost of poor customer service to the residents. We stayed for 10 days and in that time really did not 'feel' like we mattered. There were a few things that went wrong that did not need to. Overall though, the hotel is lovely, the linens and bathrooms are fantastic, the rooms are quite small with very thin walls....

Although my room was on the third floor, there was a Christmas party and the music was extremely loud until after 1am and then the noise of doors slamming and people returning to their rooms until nearly 3am. Very disappointing

comments Clontarf Castle is one of the nicest places I have ever stayed in. The staff there are extremely friendly and the rooms are of a very high standard. The fact you are staying in a old castle tops it off. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone and I know I will be back.

comments We were very pleasantly surprised at what we found when we arrived at the Hotel. Booking online is sometimes very dicey because pictures can belie the true situation. In my opinion, Clontarf Castle was "undersold" on line, so upon our arrival we were very delighted with the "real thing!"

comments The only complaints that I have are that the concierge was not from Dublin, or Ireland for that matter and knew less of the area then I did. Aside from the staff behind the check-in counter the entire staff knew very little English. I am suprised at this considering what a beautiful job they did with every other aspect.

comments The hotel was great. The staff was fantastic and went out of there way to try to do whatever they could to be helpful,friendly and professional. The hotel is alittle out of town but the bus was easy to catch and not a long wait. Ido suggest carrying backpack to carry extra jacket and parcels in town because hotel too far for dropping stuff off or stopping by to get stuff.

comments We loved staying at Clontarf Castle and hope to return. It was a beautiful location, close enough to the city center and yet quiet. We liked that it was near the water front and enjoyed walking there as well as going downtown. We asked for and received a special room and were very pleased with the modern bathroom. Clontarf Castle is a perfect blend of very old with tastefully done modern conveniences.

comments The check in was slow and the woman seemed to be by herself doing double duty tryin to answer the phone and check in clients. Maybe this was a fluke. We were not able to have dinner in the restaurant as you need to book well in advance which we did not know. We were able to eat in the pub that was rather noisey for us after a busy day of travel, The room and surroundings howeer were quite nice. The morning person gave us good directions for our continued travel.

comments The main areas (restaurant, lobby, etc) were fantastic, which I expected, but the room itself was really wonderful, which I didn't expect. The beds were extremely comfortable and the bath was very modern. My seven-year-old daughter traveled with me to Ireland and her one request was to stay in a castle. She loved the old part of the castle, but she also loved the modern conveniences of the room (flat screen TV, new shower, big comfortable bed). We ate at the pub twice and loved the atmosphere as well as the food.

comments Our 4-night stay at the Clontarf Castle was excellent. The hotel is interesting architecturally, tastefully appointed and comfortable in public areas. The corridors were quiet, and our en-suite room very pleasant with a comfortable king size bed, hospitality tray, and and thin-screen TV. The bathroom was modern, and beautifully equipped. Arrangements made in advance for collection at the airport, flowers in the room, and room service were all attended to and followed up by an first class, attentive concierge service. Where a minor difficulty with slow dining room service was encountered, it was remedied immediately. Overall impression of the staff was "anxious to please - nothing too much trouble". Recommended!
