comments Hotel is old and has lots of character. Unfortunately is noisy from bars. Staff very helpful in moving us to a quieter room for second night. The Library bar in the hotel was very relaxing and enjoyable.

comments Our stay was very comfortable. The location of the hotel was very convenient, and we were happy about the reduced rate parking that was available. The hotel accomodations were wonderful and we were content during our stay. It would have been nice to have more water pressure in the shower and a double bed that wasn't 2 single beds pushed together, though. The Library Bar is fantastic! And so was the full Irish Breakfast!

comments The location was wonderful, near everything we wanted to see-Trinity College, Dublin Castle, shopping, good restaurantsThe staff was very nice. The library was a lovely ,cozy place for a cup of tea,a drink or lunch. Rooms clean and efficient but quite small and with very poor lighting. Breakfast was not satisfying. Had much nicer breakfasts while traveling and staying in B&B's in other towns in Ireland. There was no fresh fruit and very little variety.

comments Perfectly located hotel for all the Dublin sites. Hotel was clean, staff helpful and the deal we got made it great value for money. Only down side is the noise at night, which would be the same at any hotel in the area. First night we were on the third floor with no double glassing and hardly slept all night, next day the staff happily moved us (moving our things during the day whilst we were out) to the fourth floor with double glassing which was much quieter. All in all a really nice stay.

comments Lovely and charming hotel in a perfect location for touring Dublin. Everything is within walking distance. The only downside to being so centrally located is the constant noise from the street traffic. Front desk staff were exceptionally courteous and helpful. My room was very clean, and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom had been recently renovated and was modern and also very clean. The breakfast was substantial - the coffee was delicous. The waiting staff were also exceptionally courteous and their service was fast and friendly. Will definitely stay there again next year and have recommended it to friends to travel to Dublin regularly.

comments Not the cheapest of hotels but it was very clean and customer service was excellent. the room was noisy as a result of an air conditioning unit outside the window. Breakfast was excellent and served til 10.30 at weakends which gives you enough time to rouse yourself after a heavy night on the black stuff!

comments Overall a really nice hotel with a decent sized room and a super library bar! We couldn't have been in a better place in terms of location and the staff were friendly and helpful. Just a couple of minor things to look at: the room was very hot at night (mid-August) so a window air conditioner or even a simple fan is needed. The room was missing extra pillows and there was only one spare in the entire hotel. Cheap fixes that would have made it a 5 rating had we had them. Thanks for an enjoyable stay.

comments I really liked the location of the hotel. We were able to walk everywhere and it is only a couple of blocks from Temple Bar and the tourism office. Unfortunately with such a convenient location it was also quite loud at night and the building is not soundproofed. The hotel has a lot of character and the Library Bar is a plus.

comments The hotel was lovely - the reception satff were just fantastic, so helpful and welcoming. The room was great - really spacious and with 3 proper beds (rather than a pull-out bed). The room and bathroom were clean and bright. We didn't eat at the hotel, so can't comment on the food, but it was so handy to the centre of Dublin. My only complaint was the noise outside the window of the generators etc. I had read reviews on the internet which had mentioned it, so i came equipped with earplugs, but it was quite annoying. Overall though, we had a very enjoyable stay, and i would definately book with the Central Hotel again.

comments PLeasant helpful staff, decent amenities, absolutely great location, walking distance from everything--and horribly noisy if yo're unlucky enough to get a room over the street on either side. The bars go until 2 in the morning, complete with live music, and people are out on the street talkng loudly for at least an hour after that. Make sure to ask for a room facing the hotel's inner courtyard; that's got a lot of air-handling machinery, but at least it's white noise.

comments As it suggestd the Central Hotel is so central - great for walking anywhere in town. A little noisy as a result and as I like to sleep with the window open....! The room itself was more than adequate nice and spacious and clean.I would be a little hesitant with little kids and the sash windows - I could only open the lower half and would be petrified kiddies falling out! I wonder if in other rooms they can be opened from the top - they are so beautiful the old sash.Would certainly recommend this hotel.

The breakfast was ample and tasty.the staff helpful. only moan was that the sash window wouldnt close fully allowing street noise to invade the room

comments Hotel was nicely and newly decorated and very clean. The room was rather hot, which meant we had to keep the windows open, so we did find things rather noisy. However, the loud bar on the ground floor of the hotel that some reviews mention has gone, so it was just unavoidable street noise, rather than thumping music.

comments The central location of this hotel is its strongest recommendation. This hotel is not luxurious but very adequate in a shabby chic way. The staff was accomodating and pleasant. It does front a busy street so you might want to ask for a quiet room if traffic noise bothers you. The Library Bar was cozy with a nice fire. I did not try the breakfast as there are pastry shops and other delights nearby that I wanted to try. I would stay there again if sight-seeing Dublin was my main activity.

comments It was somewhat noisy but that info in included in tourist guidebook information. I had thought in January that would not be the case--but be forewarned, you can hear happy folks and music through much of the night. The huge upside is the location--absolutely fabulous. You are in the midst of the Grafton St. area and very close to Temple Bar. You can walk to lots of attractions and tons of great pubs, shops, and restaurants. The rooms are bareboned, small, nothing special. The breakfasts are fine, nothing special. I enjoyed sitting in the Library a couple of times, reading the local newspapers and having a Guiness. It's a wonderful room. Also used the hotel's one publicly available computer (eats euros but very convenient) to check e-mail. I never had to wait to use it.

comments I love The Central Hotel. Every time I go to Dublin I have to stay at the Central. The Central Hotel is located centrally, imagine that. It is south of the Liffy and just a skip away from Temple Bar area which can be a little too noisey and touristy for my taste. The Central Hotel has a great bar on the second floor which is my little secret which Im telling everyone about. It's full of local young and old, business people pop in to have quite chats over a pint of Guinnesse before they head home, it's call the Library and its very cozy and comfy. The bar has a menu so when i check in I head straight for The Library Bar on the second floor, order a pint of Guinness, soup with brown bread, and sit and relax to think about the fabulous time im about to have in one of my favorite cities. I miss you already. Cheers!

comments Good choice for our visit to run in the Dublin marathon, good location and character to the place. We had one triple and two singles. The singles were on the 4th floor and well insulated from the late night sound of the dublin nightlife with double and secondary glazing. The triple room on the second floor was single glazed and noisy. Though the marathon runners request for an early breakfast took the hotel by surprise, the Manager came in early and had porridge and cereals ready. He even went out the night before to buy bananas. Well done.

comments I have stayed many times. It's always been fine. Super-reasonable rates on weekdays. Fantastic location without being at night (but note there is a night-club somewhere on the block that can make a muffled boom-boom-boom in some rooms). Without having any false pretensions, it keeps a fairly old-fashioned hotel atmosphere even though I think it's owned by a chain maybe. The Library Bar on the first floor is a genuine Dublin amenity. I always recommend this hotel.

comments The Central Hotel Dublin had everything we needed. Its location was perfect, the rooms more than satisfactory, and the price was to-die-for. To find a hotel to stay in for two nights including St. Patty's Day, at a price lower than most hostels was one thing. Another thing was the fact that the service, rooms, and breakfast were beyond our expectations, even for this low price!! You must stay at this hotel. You won't regret it.

comments We enjoyed our stay. Staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel's central position made it good for sight-seeing. Having booked a triple room and confirmed there were 3 beds we were disappointed to be allocated a room with a double and single. However this was rapidly changed with no problem and the recently excellently refurbished room we were moved to was ideal.

comments I liked this hotel. I specifically asked for a quiet room and got one on the fourth floor. I did hear a little noise at some stage in the night and after my stay was reminded Ri Ra's is around the corner, but the noise didn't feel too near so no problemo. I'd recommend. Grand breakfast too.

comments Whilst the room we had was very large, it was a bit tired in terms of decoration. The main problem with the hotel was the noise we experienced at night. When we complained, we were advised it was due to a night club over the road and the hotel advised they had no control over this. We had a 6 month old baby with us, so a very noisy room was not ideal. Whilst we appreciate there will be some noise in a city centre hotel, as I had to get up early to run a marathon the next day, a sleepless night due to a noisy club would not have been my choice of room. However, the location in terms of being central, was ideal but it is not realy a family hotel.

comments Twin room prepared rather than double which was booked - but quick response, albeit by joining two beds together - not the most comfortable option! Chaos at breakfast on Sunday due to full dining room - ran out of everything for a short time! Much better and quieter on Monday. However, food was very good and hotel very clean. Main bar shut on Sunday.

comments Happily, we were given a complimentary upgrade to a suite, which was basically a large and comfortable modernized room and very nice bathroom. We appreciated that gesture, and overall, staff tried hard to meet our needs, including putting fans in our room (no air conditioning available, and street noise made it hard to leave windows open.) Breakfast was generous, and Library bar was nice. Only negative note relates to one particular daytime front desk rep (who said she doesn't work front desk much) who definitely needs training in dealing with customer complaints. She actually argued with us! Her attitude really turned off my husband to the Central. Except for her, all other staff were wonderful. Location is unbeatable -- so many good restaurants and key sites right there.

It is a little 'tired' but then it is an old building It is very friendly and the staff are helpul. The hotel website states that the nearest bus stop from the airport is Suffolk Street , however this is correct only for the journey back to the airport. If you are arriving then the stop is Trinity College.

comments The location even better than expected - everything we wanted to see was a short walk away. The building was beautiful - we loved sitting in the Library Bar to relax with a book and a pint at the end of a day of sightseeing. The only downside was also a result of the prime location - the pubs made it very noisy at night and difficult to sleep on Friday and Saturday night. The hotel staff was pleasant and very helpful. I'd go back again, but with earplugs so I could sleep better.

comments The hotel was about what one would expect from an older, mid-range US hotel: comfortable with no frills and little service. It took three days several requests (and a little nagging) to get a broken light bulb replaced in our room. The hotel is centrally located near the Temple Bar area, making it handy for the pubs, restaurant, and sights; unfortunately, this means it also very noisy, especially at night when the pubs close. A great find is the wonderful, intimate library on the first floor where you can go for a late night pint of beer, or a quick read of the days news.
