comments Great stay at the hotel, 2 nights around the new year. Friendly and helpful staff, cup of tea on arrival. Fantastic selection of cooked breakfasts (best I've seen) and excellent quality food. Rooms and bathroom very good indeed. Highly recommended and would go back tomorrow! 2 mins from the Dart, 10-15 mins nice walk into centre of city.

comments I wish we, that is, my fiancee and I, had booked Butler's Townhouse for the entire week we were in Dublin--We stayed up the street, and the hotel, albeit nice and professional, was nowhere near the feeling of 'being at home' that we experienced at Butler's--The staff was courteous, first-rate in their professionalism without being 'over the top' about it--Very relaxing--The breakfast was great also--We are definitely retutning to Dublin, and most assuredly so, returning to stay at Butler's---Guitarist Mark Lucas/Dr. Karen Barr

comments Butlers Townhouse was in an upscale neighborhood and walking distance to restaurants and bars. The common area was beautiful and the breakfast was a full Irish breakfast. However, our room was very small. It was difficult to move around our room. The bed was full size - small for Americans.

comments A friend and I arrived on a Friday afternoon for a three night stay. We were shown to our room straight away even though we were a little early for the official check in time. Tea and coffee were brought to us on their balcony and at any other time we asked for it. Breakfasts were excellent - I only wish I'd had the capacity to try more of hte breakfast items. The showers (so often disappointing in terms of water pressure) were excellent, no problems with dribbly water flow. The staff were all very helpful, and able to help out with anything we asked for (directions, bookings, etc). All in all a most enjoyable stay.

comments A charming townhouse well situated close to Dart. Room was smallish particularly with a set of golf clubs. Staff was charming and bent over backwards to help with our rental car drop, finding local restaurants and car to the airport. Unfortunately our room was not made up on our last night but an adjustment was made for last nights stay

comments The staff at Butler's is outstanding. They are friendly, helpful, and attentive without being artificial. The house itself is quirky but comfortable, and the breakfasts were great. The two minute walk to the DART lets you take a quick ride into town, or you can walk it. After touring all around Dublin's sites, it was nice to hop a train back. DO NOT try to drive in Dubin! The Air COACH (not Air Link) bus stops around the corner from Butler's so that's the best way in and out from the airport.

comments It was a lovely hotel. Unfortunately lots of stairs to get luggage up and the traffic was a bit noisy. The staff was very accommodating as they helped me make a last minute addition to my one night stay into two nights. The morning breakfast was excellent. The neighborhood was nice, I felt safe walking down to the restaurants a couple of city blocks away, and to the bus stop early in the morning.

comments All the staff at Butlers Townhouse are warm, welcoming, and constantly looking for ways to be helpful - they make the Butlers a standout. The rooms are comfortable and bright and the showers are first-rate. The main-floor lounge is a convivial spot for evening wine and conversation; the conservatory, where an excellent breakfast is served, is a spacious, cheerful place to begin the day. It's a fine place to feel at home in Dublin!

comments Without hesitation my wife I would stay at Butlers Townhouse (Dublin) during a return trip to Ireland. Upon arrival we were met at the car before we could unload the boot and were told to wait until someone arrived to help take the luggage up the front steps, which are steep. The "wait" was seconds, and not minutes. We were invited into the Library/Den upon arrival and we were served with whatever refreshments we wished, and after a few minutes were taken to our room, which had a beautiful king size canopy bed as a focal point. The room was comfortably and appropriately appointed and we felt as though we were royalty in royal surroundings. If all of that weren't enough, we were feted to a five star Full Irish Breakfast the next morning in a lovely dining room. There was available "lighter" breakfast fare which looked equally delicious to the breakfast we enjoyed. At all times the staff were friendly and attentive. We were happy to get hugs and hand shakes upon departing the hotel the next morning. The Townhouse is not in the heart of City Centre, but it is only a short distance from there. The neighborhood has the American Embassy only three or four blocks away, which speaks highly of the quality of the surroundings of Butlers. We walked to dinner the evening we were there and saw a number of good restaurants in the area and ate at a really great restaurant. We stayed at four different hotels/B&Bs during our trip around mid and southern Ireland. I don't have any suggestion to Butlers to improve their staff or their property----------everything was perfect!

comments Excellent place to stay ideally placed for landsdown road and the trains into the city. The breakfast is to die for and the whole atmosphere like a home from home (a very smart spacious home). The best thing about Butlers however are the staff the complementary coffee in the lounge upon arrival at the end of a busy flight to the extra measure "on the house" in the bar after a hectic day at the rubgy. Cannot fault anything will be back soon. Thankyou! Phil and Amanda

Stephen was particularly helpful, suggesting restaurants and sites to see. The food was lovely and again the staff were friendly and helpful. I agree with the review that said it was shabby chic but that added to its charm a bit like staying in a country house. It was close to the dart station for easy access to Dublin town. We would definitely stay there again.

comments We enjoyed our stay at the Butler's Townhouse very much. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and the breakfast is outstanding. We arrived around around 7:30am and were immediately greeted by the owner and offered breakfast and a room to use until our own room was prepared. It takes about 20 minutes to walk to the city center or you can use public transportation nearby. The neighborhood is very safe and nice with lots of old georgian houses. There is a fantastic restaurant about 5 minues away called Roley's. All in all, a great place to stay.

comments We couldn't have been more pleased with our experience at Butlers Townhouse. On arrival (unexpectedly early at 8am) our room was immediately prepared for us instead of having to wait for normal check in time and at no extra charge. Location was fantastic, a pretty leafy area just outside of Dublin with a 3 minute walk to the metro line for the city centre. We would throughly recommend this place to anyone - a well deserved 4 star Hotel, value for money and an abundant breakfast buffet. You couldn't want more. Cecilia the hotel Manager was delightful to chat to and gave much needed money saving tips to get the most out of this relatively dear city. Overall excellent.

comments We end up staying at the Butlers Townhouse 3 nights instead of one because of severe weather shutdown in Dublin. We could not have enjoyed it more - the service of Cecilia and Stephen was so friendly and impreccable, the interior of the room was very charming and secretly had us wishing after one cancelled flight our next one would be cancelled too so we could stay one night extra (which happened). Although they were planning on closing the hotel for Christmas, they decided to stay open for as long as we had to wait to fly out. They are lovely people in a lovely hotel and we recommend it to anyone!

comments We picked your hotel because it was highly rated onn Trip Advisor and because it was conveniently located with respect to the Dublin Marathon. Staff were very courteous and welcoming, the room was great and the breakfast very satisfying. A five-star experience at a very reasonable price!

comments As first-timers to Dublin we did research as to where to stay: close to the action, but not too close; great ambience, but prices within reason. Guide books and the internet reviewers all pointed us to one spot - Butlers Townhouse. Unfortunately, our first dates were booked so we switched to a mid-week arrival and were registered immediately. Showing up a little early, we expected to have our bags stored and politely shown the door until later in the day; instead, we were greeted warmly by Cecilia, the manager; told to leave our suitcases where they were; invited into the drawing room-cum-library and served tea by our charming hostess. With tea over, our bags had mysteriously vanished to our room which awaited us in nineteenth-century splendour. The Irish breakfast (replete with two "puddings" of differing makeup), congenial staff, the comfortable room, the proximity of Dlublin's "heart", excellent restaurants within 5 minuts walk and the quietness at night of the "embassy enclave" conspired to render this, our first visit to Dublin, unforgettable. Highly recommended.

comments Our arrival was greeted with a warm welcome like we were just arriving at home. Our room was as requested on the top floor. The old Victorian house was lovely and in a wonderful neighborhood. The staff was very helpful. The breakfast was fantastic. A sumptuous buffet accompanied by a marvelous made to order hot Irish Breakfast. If you go away hungery it's your own fault. Our room was very tastfully decorated. It was quiet and quite homey. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend the Butler's Townhouse to anyone visiting Dublin. Our departure was accompanied by a warm hug by our hostess. Cecelia, your doing a wonderful job. Keep it up.

comments We found Butler's a friendly and comfortable place to stay. Our room was comfortable and beautifully presented. The breakfasts were fabulous. The staff at Butler's were very helpful and friendly. The train station is only a short walk but we didn't use a timetable so we wasted a great deal of time just waiting for trains. The only drawback to staying at Butler's was the traffic noise if you like to sleep with the windows open. I would recommend this place to others.

comments My husband and I were staying for a business trip and had a fantastic stay at the butlers town house. It was a home away from home and our welcome by cecilia would make the irish proud. We have never recieved such a warm welcome anywhere in the world and felt like part of the family. The staff were very helpful and pleasant which is unusual in customer service these days. A breakfast fit for a king!!!!!!!! We cannot wait to think of another excuse to get to dublin and stay back at the townhouse again. Thanks to cecilia nad her staff A visit to dublin would not be complete without a stay at the butlers town house We will be back again very soon!!

Very easy to get into town, by bus, DART or taxi. Everyone was very friendly, and happy to recommend places to visit and eat. Enormous breakfast of cereals, toast and cooked breakfast - really recommend the french toast with bacon and maple syrup. Would recommend it to anyone who wants a relaxed and relaxing stay in Dublin.

comments Our stay in Dublin, Ireland started out with Butlers Townhouse in the Ballsbridge area. I chose the place based on reviews I had read, as well as its affordability. All I can say is what a find it was!!! The staff knocks themselves out to be helpful, the actual accomodations were quite nice and the upstairs common area sitting room/library is luxurious and peaceful. The cheery staff brought us tea to our room at no charge whenever requested and if we had a question or hiccup with our day's plans, they immediately volunteered to get on the phone to help solve the problem. My husband and I noticed they did that for everyone! Staff is phenomeonal. One night before going out to see "Riverdance" we decide we wanted to have a little snack before the performance as we were running out of time. Now, official teatime was over, but the young man who was on duty that night, and, although very involved with pleasantly helping a distressed, elder guest with a problem, jumped right in. He managed to send out for scones from somewhere and brought them up to us in the library with piping hot tea. He also called the cab for us so I didn't have to walk the cobblestone road in my high heels. Later, we had a problem with our phones and our hostess spent a good amount of time helping us reach our party and explained very patiently how to get places and when we looked puzzled or flummoxed, she would kindly go over it again with us. Wow! Really, you felt like you were in the womb of a loving family! Speaking of which, Stacey(one of the staff members) found out she was pregnant with twins while we were there, and we were thrilled for her. Oh, here's one more example of how they go our of their way for you: One night we slept in much later than we intended to. A few minutes before the 10:00 cut-off for breakfast, the phone rang. They were apologetic for disturbing us,but just wanted to know if we planned on joining in for the morning meal as they didn't want us to have to skip breakfast. And speaking of breakfast, it was always delicious and made to order. I especially like the Butler's fruited bread and fresh fruit offerings and my husband loved their traditional full Irish breakfasts. Yum! We miss all of you. With this kind of introduction to Ireland by such caring and genuine people, we definitely fell in love with the country! Thank you Butler's Townhouse!!! What a value and what a lovely place you have created!

comments I thought Butler's was beautiful. The common areas were absolutely amazing (I only wish it wasn't raining most of the time so I could have enjoyed the patio!). My room was lovely, and the showers were great! I liked that it felt like a B&B with the amenities and freedom of a hotel. The only potential challenge was the distance from city centre (I had to run home to charge my camera battery) but Ballsbridge was such a beautiful and quiet area that I would stay a little bit out again. Cecilia and Sergio were incredibly helpful and made me feel very welcome. Thank you!

comments Butlers Townhouse really exceeded our expectations: it is a lovely old Georgian house which is beautifully decorated in keeping. The bedrooms and bathrooms are very nice with air conditioning and hot powerful showers. The conservatory dining room serves lovely breakfasts with a mix of traditional Irish - homemade soda bread and jam, bacon and black and white pudding - with a wide choice of other dishes, from fresh fruit salad and muesli to a very good Eggs Benedict and French toast with maple syrup and bacon. But our favourite part of the stay was the beautiful drawing room which leads out onto a terrace - lovely for sitting and relaxing with a drink from its bar, or morning coffee and the service is nothing short of wonderful - a tray of tea or coffee will be brought to you at any time with no charge. As regards the surrounding area, Butlers is just a short walk from a range of restaurants including the renowned Rolys Bistro and it is right by the Dart station for going into Dublin city centre and the Landsdowne Road stadium, so it`s ideal if you are in town for the rugby etc. We consider Butlers to be a real `find` and we will definitely be going back.

comments Upon reviewing places to stay in Dublin, I went to my trusted site- Tripadvisor. I saw that Butlers Townhouse was very well recommended and consequently decided to stay here on my holiday from that information. I must say, my experience at Butlers Townhouse greatly exceeded expectations. I was attracted to Butlers because of its similarity to a boutique hotel that embraces the colloquial culture of the Irish, embodying its style both architecturally and in personality. This boutique hotel is unique in that the rooms do not fall under standard convention of being numbered and instead are named, as each room is unique from another. The general feel of Butlers is warm and inviting and makes you feel at home with the Irish. The staff is beyond pleasant and helpful and are extremely accomodating for all requests as they genuinely care about enhancing your trip however possible. The location is great as you can easily navigate to the city center by walking, DART (local train), bus, or taxi. I would recommend Butlers to anyone interested in visiting Dublin.

comments We stayed over a weekend combining business and holiday. As my work was on Grafotn St. the location was ideal, less than 10min drive and you arrive in a leafy neighbourhood away from the hustle and bustle of the centre. The level of service was simply amazing. The staff went out of their ways to make us feel comfortable and welcome, (especially the night shift) the room was superb and the breakfast varied and delicious. The feeling we had when we left was one of having stayed in an old fashioned family run place where every guest is important and taken care off individually. We will definitely return. comments Great welcome host. She greated us and made us feel welcome and directed us to our room. The room was tastefully decorated and extremely pleasant. The shower pressure was great and so was the bed. The TV is on the tiny side but then again we didnt have a chance to watch it very much. Breakfast was HORRIBLE!!! We were told that it was included, but were then charged for it, if we knew we woud have definetly went out and tried the much better cheaper options. Horrible - I had the irish breakfast. The eggs were rubbery, the mushrooms unfresh, sossage funny looking and bad tasting, my partner had something equally awefull and unmemorable. We poked at the breakfast, left hungry and then were charged. This left an unpleasant aftertaste to what started as a fabulous experiance.

comments All of the staff made us feel so very welcome. We had read the reviews of the hotel before we booked but even our expectations were surpassed on the day itself. The room was lovely and just what we had hoped for. Well worth the few extra pennies, rather than staying in a small Travelodge equivalent with no Irish feel about it. The biggest compliment i would say is the fact that i am writing this review as i do not normally do so. However, its all true and we would happily go back and stay again. If you are still debating..... Dont!

comments I truly enjoyed the staff during my stay. I had a room on the bottom floor so didn't see much of the building. I also did not have breadkfast so cannot speak on the food. I would stay there again due to location to DART station and nice pubs. It is also convenient to the aircoach shuttle.

comments All the staff were lovely and so so helpful. Arriving into Ireland by myself was a bit daunting and I got to the townhouse earl in the morning - not only did they have a room ready but they fixed me up some breakfast (which was very much appreciated!!). It is quite centrally located and is a lovely 15-20min walk into the city and attractions. Cannot recommend enough as a lovely stay for Dublin.

Our room was charming and very clean, the coffee room/sitting room was full of character and the breakfast room was beautiful. The breakfast itself was delicious and there was a wide choice of hot and cold food (delicious banana bread by the way). Lastly I have never encountered members of staff as friendly as at Butlers Townhouse. Thank you for a lovely stay!

comments The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was very satisactory. The hotel was extremely difficult to find and I would suggest that a larger sign be placed at the front of the house as the sign on the house is inconspicuous because of its colour. comments Both my husband and I enjoyed our 3-night stay overall. We liked our room, the common area, great breakfast and friendly staff. The only thing was that our room was on the street side and the noise from traffic bordered me at night. But that is because I am a light sleeper so it took me a while to fall asleep. It did not however border my husband.

comments We arrived at Butlers late evening on the 25th October we were quickly shown to our room which was very small, but we were assured that we would be upgrading the following morning.Sunday morning breakfast arrived to our room and it was lovely, promptly at 12 O'Clock we were given the keys to our upgraded room which was just accross the hallway so not too much hassle moving our cases! The room was much larger, very bright and well decorated. Nothing seems too much for the staff at Butlers and it's in an ideal location about 20 minutes walk from Dublin centre. comments We had a wonderful two days in Dublin, and Butler's Townhouse was the perfect base. The room was fantastic, with a huge four poster bed. The breakfasts were teriffic - so nice to have a choice beyond Continental or full Irish. The hotel is a bit of a walk out of the centre (about 10-15 minutes to St.Steven's Green) but Ballsbridge is a more tranquil area of Dublin. Butler's Townhouse is perfect for a relaxed, romantic getaway

comments The loveliest place in Dublin as far as we are concerned! They make you feel special and cater to your every need without being intrusive. As Americans who arrive early in the morning, we are jetlagged and weary, and Butler's offers us a room to take a nap in if one is available and even provides us with breakfast that morning, even though we are not officially checked in yet! Who could ask for more? The atmosphere is lovely - quiet, with beautiful furnishings and exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. They will always be our first choice when staying in Dublin!
