comments We redently stayed at the Waterfoot Hotel for a family wedding and booked a double and twin bedded room. The hotel is located conveniently just off a roundabout and as such offers easy access in to town as well as further afield. We found the beds in the hotel to be really comfortable. The pillows were great. I don't think I have stayed in a hotel with such comfy beds and pillows - they are normally a let down! The public areas were contemporary and clean and the staff were very welcoming and gave great service. We thoroughly enjoyed the wedding reception we attended there and thought the function suite was beautifully decorated - looked stunning! Breakfast was cooked well but there was not a great choice and much of it had run out by the time we arrived at 9.15am. Our only real problem was being woken by fire alarms at 6.15 the morning after the wedding - we are told this was due to a guest...We would stay again and would recommend the hotel to others as it was great value

comments I was very happy with the hotel, which was great value. Extremely good room that would justify a higher price level and a good bar. The hotel had the relaxed feel of a smaller boutique hotel. Slightly out of Derry City itself but only about £4 and 10 minutes in a local taxi.

comments I booked online for 2 rooms for a single nights stay. My Father and I arrived after driving up from the Larne ferry and after a short wait due to house keeping, we were allowed access to our rooms. The rooms themselves were spotless, I couldn't fault anything, plenty of towels in the en suite, tea and coffee available in the room and my tv reception was ok, in Dad's room it wasn't great though. We were given plenty of advice from the lovely Lady on reception when we asked about local sites to visit (the Peace Bridge has recently opened). Dad and I ate in the restaurant that night and the staff were very friendly and attentive. The portion sizes were enough to keep Dad happy and we didn't need a dessert, though they all sounded amazing. The breakfast in the morning was a 'help youself' buffet and everything was fresh and well cooked. All in all I would really recommend this hotel to anyone looking for somewhere just outside Londonderry (5 minute drive). All the staff are friendly and I will definately be returning for a second visit.

comments Standard, comfortable hotel after a wedding reception we attended at same hotel. A little old in the bathroom but that's to be expected. Breakfast was nice in the morning. My wife was a little surprised that no sparkling wine or champagne was available to buy at the bar of the reception. Otherwise very happy with our stay.

comments Stayed at the Waterfoot twice recently - May bank holiday weekend and Jazz Festival weekend. Beautiful hotel rooms, love the purple theme. Only one criticism - the gardener drove a very loud lawnmower past our room window at 9am in the morning wakening us from our lie in. We had a late night the night before and were very tired. But apart from that i would recommend the hotel to anyone going to Derry for a city break. It is a nice peaceful retreat from the bustle of the city centre. I would sack the gardener though. comments In accordance with your environmental policy, I dutifully hung my towels on the rail each day as they did not require changing. However, your housekeeping staff chose to ignore this and changed my towels every day during my 4 night stay. This is the only aspect of my stay that was a disappointment to me.

comments Comfortable, cosy, reasonably-priced and -sized rooms, though a king sized bed would have been welcome in a two-person room and would certainly be the standard in the majority of hotels I stay in! Complimentary bottled water would also be a nice touch. The restaurant served us very nice food and the waiting staff were pleasant and friendly. We particularly enjoyed the cosy bar with it's roaring open fire on such a cold winter's night. Thanks!

comments We stayed for a wedding and the hotels main facilities are very nice and modern. However the room did not meet the same standards, the decor needs updated the bathroom needs to be refitted and the window overlooked the bins. The room was warm and we couldn' open the windows because of the noise of fans outside and hotel staff smoking at a fire exit. Some of us were splashed with gravy during the meal and there was no waiter service at the tables in the evening for drinks and lipstick on some of the glasses we got. The breakfast was good quality but very disorganised as there was only one table and people were waiting a long time for items to be replenished, eg; the eggs ran out and we kept being told they would be there in a minute by the time the waitress brought them to our table we had nearly eaten the rest of our food, if we hadn't it would have been cold. One toast machine is not enough for the amount of people who were there. Overall it would be a lovely hotel if these points were taken care of.

comments The special offer of 2 nights bed and breakfast with 1 evening meal (£69pp) was extremely good value. The hotel has obviously been recently refurbished to a high standard. Our bedroom was spacious, clean if a little dark, and had plenty of storage space. The meals were excellent, served hot by efficient and courteous staff. I particularly liked the idea of the monetary voucher towards the cost of the evening meal which allowed the choice of a meal from the full restaurant Menu rather than a 'special menu' with a limited choice designed specifically for those taking up this offer. Overall it was an extremely satisfying experience and one I would have no hesitation in repeating in the future.

comments We had a smashing stay and the room was very clean . The bathroom could of done with being updated however you could see some effort was made ie new tap etc and it was very clean . The room we found was very hot so some sort of aircon would of been good perhaps for just the warmer months . Also your AM resturant staff (An Aussie girl especially) dealt with a number unjustified stroppy breakfast dinners very professionally , so well done to her she kept her cool. We also had an evening meal which was yummy and resonable in price . Regards Karen Baughan

comments Well mannered friendly staff greeted us on arrival and the room was clean and well appointed. The food and drinks were reasonably priced and the service was excellent. Was a liitle put out by being asked for my card details and being told that it was in case there was any damage to the room? Could this be because I arrived on a motorcycle? (A BMW that cost more than most of the cars in the car park). I would have no hessitation in making a future booking and would be happy to reccomend the hotel to my family and friends.

comments The only thing that I wish to comment on was the heat and lack of air conditioning in the room. Being on the ground floor the option of leaving the window open was not to be considered. The electric supply discontinues when the room is empty so even the bathroom fan could not be left on to induce some sort of air change which may may reduced the temperature slightly. This resulted in an uncomfortable nights rest. Other than that the stay was enjoyed by the rest of our party. The staff are a credit to the hotel, very polite and helpful.

comments My husband and I stayed at the Waterfoot Hotel in mid May 2010. On arrival we found reception staff to be pleasant, friently and very knowledgeable of their city. We found the spacious room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Complimentary tea/coffee facilities. Housekeeping team - a credit to hotel. In the restaurant/wine bar, we found the food to be superb and again staff where very courteous and helpful. Food and drink prices very reasonable. Pleasant surroundings. Snug bar - beautiful decor. Great little hide away. Short taxi ride into city centre cost - £3/4. In summary, Waterfoot Hotel offers great rates and value for money. We had recommended this hotel to friends before we even checked out. We will be returning to stay here again in the near future.

comments A mixed age group of six we visited the hotel for a 2 day week-end stay to attend a wedding at another, nearby, hotel. The hotel is situated off the Caw roundabout on the way in to the city centre from Derry Airport. It costs around £10 in a taxi from the a'port. There is nothing off interest or amenities, such as shops or bars, in the immediate vicinity. However it's only a short taxi ride into the city centre costing £3/4. Taking into account the very reasonable room rates, the hotel still offers good vfm when compared to city centre hotels. On arrival the reception staff whilst quick and efficient, were also very welcoming and sincere in their encouragement to return to them for any help or information we may require. I have to say that they were true to their word as they are not only knowledgeable about their City, they treasure it, and want to ensure that you have an enjoyable stay. The hotel itself looks like it has been quite recently refurbished and the rooms and public areas are pleasant and kept spotlessly clean by a houseworking team who are a credit to themselves and the management of the hotel. I would say that this is a hotel which puts some effort into it's staff selection process and believe me it shows. We had a very pleasant evening meal on our arrival night and we found the food and drink prices very reasonable for a hotel, particularly taking into account the attentive staff, pleasant surroundings and general ambience. Breakfast was fine, may be a little limited choice wise, but again a pleasant, unhurried experience. I would definitely recommend the Waterfoot.

comments This weekend was booked so that my husband and I could enjoy a relaxing and restful weekend. The hotel was lovely and the staff more than helpful. Our room was spacious and spotlessly clean - our bathroom was also spotless. We loved the 'Snug Bar' and the barman was very friendly and efficient. We took our inclusive meal in the new Wine Bar and the food was delicious. If there were any 'minor criticisms' they would be that the website does not make clear that the 'inclusive' meal is up to the value of £30 per couple (in actual fact, we only had to pay a few pounds over that). Our room didn't have the best view - it was over a corrugated roof....but hey, all rooms in all hotels can't have super views!! We also experienced some noise from the function room (below) but my husband and I didn't have to listen for long - that comfortable bed made sure we were fast asleep in minutes!! I would most certainly and already have, recommended this hotel to lots of my friends and work colleagues and I will certainly be staying in the future!!

comments We just stayed overnight as we were at a wedding in An Grainnan just across the border. It was a £10 taxi ride to the hotel where the wedding was. The Waterfoot offered great value for money as we really only needed to sleep for a few hours. Breakfast was very good and the staff were lovely. Thank-you.

comments A really nice hotel, with a great restaurant too. A quick note for people who aren't familiar with Derry, and a bit apprehensive about staying outside the city. A taxi from the hotel to the city centre worked out at only £4 a turn, so it really makes no difference.
