My partner and I stayed at the Walter Raleigh hotel in Youghal for a weekend in July 2008. We got 2 nights bed and breakfast an one evening meal. The staff wer most hlpful and friendly especially Phil the lady at the reception who went out of her way to assist us on everything we needed. They had private off street parking. The breakfasts were exdellent and the evening meal which we took in the bar was great too. The location is excellent on the seafront and we got a sea view. Its within welking distance from the centre of town which was great. We visited the V valle, Mount Mellery Abbey, Dungarvan and Lismore while we were ther. Lovely location, friendly staff, good food, rooms and some public areas showing signs of needing a refurb or update. We did come away feeling well looked after though, so we'd be happy enough to stay there again.	report this review as inappropriate

Some hotels offer you 'welcome packs'. This one offers you the real thing - genuinely friendly, helpful staff - laid-back atmosphere - very clean room - unfortunately the dining room was closed for renovations while we were there, but the food served in the bar was good - on top of all that you have sea-views! We will be back, and we will be recommending The Walter Raleigh. It's wonderful that there are some hotels with character and individuality left.	report this review as inappropriate

We had a lovely time, the staff were very helpful and friendly. The entertainment was very good, we especially enjoyed "Ceolta" the music and dance night. The food was very nice. The hotel was within walking distance to local shops and the local "Perks" entertainment centre.	report this review as inappropriate

The service was bril myself and husband both belive this was 5 out of 5 plus for service from the time we arrived i would reconend this hotel. we will go their again for service alone and we as over in our fifties have a lot of experance with hotels.	report this review as inappropriate

Clean comfortable rooms in a beautiful location. the resteraunt food was amazing. the only stipulation was the staff at reception, they seemed more interested in idling chatting to friends, instead of looking after their customers. I enjoyed my stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. As it is an old hotel the decor was a bit old fashioned. The bathroom was very small and there were cigarette burns on parts of the bathroom furnishings. However any qualms I had about the hotel were overcome by the food and the friendly atmosphere.	report this review as inappropriate

hotel had a nice atmosphere but a little basic. rooms clean but housekeeping a little bit relaxed in dining room and bar area. Hotel and staff were very good and helpful The service in the restaurant was slow - the first morning we waited at least 15 minutes for our breakfast and there was along delay in getting our desert the previous evening.
