We were extremely disappointed with our stay at the Emmet Hotel. Based on the price comparison with other hotels in the area, we expected the Emmet Hotel to be one of the nicer hotels considering the nightly rate was higher. Our room was not very clean, the bed was uncomfortable, the rooms do not have hairdryers (it has to be borrowed from the front desk and shared between all guests), but the worst part of the experience was that the hotel did not have hot water. On the first night of our stay, we were forced to take cold showers if we wanted to be clean for New Years Eve. We all skipped showers on the second day because it wasn't worth the pain. The only positive comments I have about the hotel are that the breakfast was nice and the staff were very friendly. We won't stay here again though.

Thank you to Marie for the warm welcoming pot of tea we received on arrival. Robert, Rebecca and all the staff made us feel at home This is a lovely family hotel. We loved every minute. The food was excellent both for breakfast and dinner. The room was spotless. I recommend this hotel, and will definately stay here again. Thank you for your hospitality. Kay Kiely. old style but staff , breakfast etc.. more than made up for it... bit noisy at night due to nightclub in basement but not too bad !

Everything was great, the service is excellent, people working there are very friendly, the room was clean but it stank very badly of cigarette smoke...

Emmet was well located in a lovely square and its appearance from the outside was nice. Inside, the reception area was satisfactory and the welcome was polite and cordial. However, the staff were not very well prepared. For example, knowing there was no room safe we asked to leave valuables at the reception. Whilst there was a safe there was no key and we had to valuables with us throughout our stay.
The room was comfortable and warm but the furnishings were rickety and of poor quality. The bathroom was a disgrace. Taps were loosely attached to sink & bath and we feared they would detach completely. The bath panel was cracked and the exposed sharp edges dangerous. The support handle for getting in and out of the bath was completely rusty such that one would not want to touch it. Towels were small and barely adequate for bathing.
The bed was comfortable but the noise from the disco downstairs on Saturday night was loud and persistent until the early hours (though we were warned of this beforehand).
Breakfasts were good and the staff friendly and helpful.
Taken together, although there were many enjoyable features to our stay the poor condition of the fabric of the place and the lack of facilities did not justify a 3 star rating nor the price we were charged.

Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was excellent. Bedrooms were average. Bathrooms were poor. Bathroom whilst clean was below quality I would expect it needed a lot of maintenance.

I can't say enough about the Emmet. Rebecca, Mari & all the staff were wonderful. The food was excellent and location couldn't be better. I will be back.
