comments We were very happy with my recent stay at the Talbot in Carlow. We are a young couple and we spotted the deal of Dinner and B&B for the Sunday night. The meal we got was fantastic. We were delighted with the choice on the menu and the food itself could not be faulted. The bed was comfortable. There was no noise in the corridor during the night. The room was clean and so was the bathroom. The bar (downstairs) was good and lively and we had a few drinks there before retiring the the night. We honestly were delighted with the value we got for our money and we will be back to stay there again.

comments A very nice time at this hotel. The staff were lovely couldn't be nicer!! The swimming pool was great for the kids and the playhouse next door called the "dome" is brillant. The food and all in the hotel is great and great price too. Have no complaints at all well worth the money.

comments My Boyfriend & I Stayed At The Talbot Hotel For One Night B&B + 1 Evening Meal For Less Than €100!!! FANTASTIC VALUE!! On Arrival The Reception Staff Were Very Friendly. Our Room Was Spacious, Modern And Spotless Clean. The Leisure Facilities Were Good And Clean!! That Evening The Meal In The Restaurant Was Tasty And The Service Was Good.The View From The Restaurant Was Beautiful. Again Staff Very Friendly. The Breakfast The Following Morning Was Nice There Was A good Selection Only Downfall Was The Food Wasnt Very Hot!! I Would Recommend Anyone To Stay In The Talbot Hotel Carlow Fantastic Value :) Will Be Back :)

comments Over all I was very happy with my stay in the Talbot Hotel Carlow. I was a bit disappointed about the Restaurant being closed early but I do understand that there was not enough business that night to keep it open. The staff were very Friendly and the room was very nice. Prices were also reasonable. In a nut shell if asked if I would recommend this hotel to someone, I would. Thank you.

comments I just wanted to say a big thank you to all the staff at the hotel for the weekend just gone. Every member of staff, from the moment we walked into the hotel at reception, to the bar, to the restaurant, etc went out of their way to make sure that our stay was as pleasant and enjoyable as possible. We were part of a hen party of 20 people on the Saturday night, and everyone in the group was very complimentary about the staff and the hotel in general. The food also, both in the bar and the restaurant was excellent. Thanks again for making our weekend so hassle free and enjoyable.

comments service was extremely efficient and professional, the hotel was unbelievably clean. the rooms were to a standard which is definitely quality for money. we did not eat within the hotel, but from talking to previous customers, its a standard which cannot be faulted, alike the hotel! well done to all the staff, its a team effort and is clearly visible throughout.

comments The service in the pub leaves something to be desired - very slow and the steak I ordered was unedible due to being overcooked and paper thin. The room was nice, and bed comfortable. I also enjoyed a burger in the pub one night, so the terrible steak might be an aberration. The main reason for my lower rating was the inability of the staff to honor the requested early check-in and making no apologies for it. Our group had flown in on the red-eye, and hoped to shower / freshen up prior to going to the office, but none of the rooms were available.

comments i have stayed several times with the talbot but on arriving i was told this is now a non smoking hotel which was on the bottom of website which u would not see when booking when i asked how long the no smoking policy was in i was told by the girl om reception that it was in 3 years this is not the case as i was at a wedding nov 09 and this wasnt in at that time talbot would want 2 update there website i wouldnt stay again because of this policy people should have a chouice and with the recession dont think it a good idea mary monahan

comments We got a good deal for a weekend break and enjoyed our stay.Rooms were clean and comfortable.Breakfast dissapointing and would suggest a microwave could be provided.The evening meal was excellent.the biggest plus for the hotel is the efficient and friendly staff throughout,special mention to Agga in the bar.Look forward to visiting again in the near future.

I have stayed in the Talbot in Wexford many times which I love as a hotel and would not have any hesitation to recommend either hotel to anyone who is looking for a nice break.

comments Hotel is not a 4 Star rating. Heating turned off in bedroom, stayed two nights and had to request somebody to look at heating each night. Need more soaps in bathroom, 1 small bar of soap!!! Need more towels in bathroom. Also I would like to point out that some of the plates and glasses in the resturant were dirty with water stains.

comments We had only a one night stay but enjoyed same. The only problem I had was the absence of a safe in our room. Also surprisingly my wife tells me there was no hairdryer. The absence of both of these items does not warrent the tag of 4 star. Otherwise it was very pleasent and the rooms very comfortable

comments We stayed in the hotel 18months ago and it was lovely - we couldn't fault it so we booked to stay again... this time we weren't so impressed. The room had a very strong smell of cigarette smoke when we first arrived so had to open the windows to air it out, the bath had a black stain in it that wasn't very nice and they definitely needed more staff at breakfast as we had to clear our own table of dirty dishes so we could sit down to eat (it was very busy and only had 2 waitresses who were rushed off their feet).

comments We chose to stay at the Talbot Hotel because of the positive reviews I read on the website. I was not disappointed, the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful, the room was bright and airy, and I very much liked the big window which I could open. I only have one very small negative, we had to wait a little longer for our food in the restuarant compared to a couple next to us and I ordered a glass of wine that did'nt come till I ordered it again. The food was delicious and I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to friends and family (which I have done).

comments We had a lovely 2 night stay on 11th and 12th of Sept. All the staff were really nice and genuinely had the customers interest at heart. They were all really friendly, and seemed to be happy in their job. One staff member that stood out was the barman, he was there sunday evening... have forgotten his name, but he was irish, tall n thin... ha was a very socialable person. So over all we had a very enjoyable stay and I've said it two sisters and we all hope to stay for a few days over the christmas holidays. Thanks

comments As far as family fun is concerned, our stay at the Talbot Hotel Carlow was perfect especially as the Dome is directly located next door. Leisure facilities were ok... kiddies pool could have been designed better. Breakfast time very busy but I suppose we did go at peek time each morning. Overall our stay was very enjoyable and fantastic value for money.

comments I was extremely satisfied with the stay. I was there for a wedding, the staff, accomadation and food were excellent. The room was clean and quite large. If I had one complaint it was that breakfast finished at 10. In fairness it was mid week so it is a minor issue.

comments Stayed at the Talbot Hotel Carlow over the May Bank holiday weekend. Great location as only a few minutes drive off the motorway and very easy to find. All staff, from cleaning staff to manager, were all very friendly and made us feel welcome. Cleanliness was excellent and food both for breakfast and evening dinner was delicious, plenty of choice for both. We had an issue with some customers in the bar who kept opening the emergency doors to go in and out for a cigarette-which was letting a cold breeze in and also a hazard for people with small kids who ran for the door everytime it opened, but once that was pointed out to staff they rectified this very quickly and efficiently. Music at night time on both nights was very pleasant and didnt interfere with the ability to have a conversation. Overall it was great value for money and would definitely stay there again.

comments had a great time at the hotel, the meal was fab and the view of the mountains was amazing. we went into town after the meal for a night out and the taxi was only €5. the rooms were very spacious and beds so comfy.l breakfast was great and such a selection for vegetaraians as well as meat eaters. thouroughly worth a vist. at €140 for the night for breadky and dinner was amazing value

comments This is our second year staying at the Talbot and we LOVE IT!!! The staff was so friendly and kind and very helpful. I ran into trouble logging on to their free internet, due to windows vista, and the Manager solved the problem. The Talbot has a wonderful kids program that my 8 yr old son loved. If we weren't busy swimming or playing next door at the Dome or visiting family we were taking advantage of the FREE kids club. Double feature movie starts at 7:30 pm and parents are free until 9:00 pm RELAXATION!!! When we travel to Ireland again we will definately be staying at the Talbot again. Thank you for such a wonderful experiance.

comments I found the accomadations excellent. Staff were very pleasant and competent. I was greatly helped by a staff person in my concerns about motor way tolls. He made an inital call for me and all was straightened out before I left. I am hoping to be back again in the near future. Since I have been undergoing chemo therapy I chose this location so that I could visit family close by and have periods of rest in between. All that worked well.

comments It was a thoroughly enjoyable stay, and extremely good value. We stayed on the 1 night bed and breakfast plus dinner package and found it extremely good value. The room was impeccably clean as was the bathroom, sheets and towels (these are the things that are important to me!) Dinner was very good and again great value. And breakfast, for a buffet, was excellent. Normally the food is dripping in fat sitting under a hot plate (or whatever they are called) but this was not the case. The staff were professional, extremely friendly and efficient. Of course I have one complaint (nowhere is perfect): there was an horrendous smell of smoke in our corridor, which seeped into our room. We were not too bothered at 8pm in the evening, but waking up to a strong smell of ashtrays and smoke at 8am was highly unpleasant. But in saying this, when I noified the staff (albeit too late on my part) they took the complaint very seriously. I would highly recommend it. Aoife Berenger (you can use my name)

comments Both my Wife and I Stayed at the Talbot for a Weekend Break, We are both very impressed and Delighted with the Hospitality and help we got from the Staff, The Room was Spotless with every need and information, The Bar and Entertaiment was Super, Buffet Breakfast had a great Choice but we found we had to wait a while because there was a great number of People for Breakfast the same time and the Staff found it diffiult to keep the Breakfast Trays full, A Super Hotel would highly Reccomend Very Many Thanks.

Our room was comfortable once we put the heater on but the rest of the hotel was cool to a point were it was a little uncomfortable. Bar food was nice and the breakfast was excellent, wide choice. All in all I would recommend this hotel.

comments The Talbot Hotel is a very impressive Hotel. I have to say the staff there are most friendly and a credit to the Hotel. I was impressed with the way they accommodated the children with colouring pages and crayons while the adults were dining. I would highly recommend the Hotel and will definetly return again.

comments We brought our 2 children aged 7 with us to the talbot hotel. I found the hotel excellent and the staff very helpful. Breakfast was excellent and service was great. The dinner menu was was abit over the top and because the menu was so fancy it was difficult to find a meal one actually would like. The desserts were very disappointing for the adults. Children menus was very good and I would have prefered their menu.

comments My stay was wonderful in the Talbot Hotel Carlow and their facilities are second to none and great value for money. I had only one small issue and that related to when I was checking out. I noted an extra item on my bill and when queried the receptionist showed me a charge docket from the leisure centre for something purchased and insisted it was my signature when in fact it didnt resemble my sig at all. It was only for a small amount and she then took it off my bill, but it put a slight dampner on what was a wonderful break.

comments We chose the Talbot Hotel Carlow for my brothers 30th birthday. There was a party or 18 and everyone had a very enjoyable weekend. The staff were all very pleasent and helpfull. Unfortunately I was unable to use the beauty salon as it was booked out. I would suggest advising customers to book in advance when making reservations. the hotel itself was beautyful.

I got ONE piece of mashed potatoe which was a disgrace and the vegetables was under-cooked. Apart from the dinner everything else was perfect including a fantastic selection of foods for breakfast. comments We as a family enjoyed our stay at the Talbot hotel, Carlow. We found our rooms top standard catering for our needs with new baby etc. Staff very pleasant and food extremely good. Having the pool and the "Dome" next to hotel provided great entertainment for both children and parents. Only flaw we found was at breakfast with delays due to making your own toast, never endured anywhere else before, running out of orange juice, again never heard of hotel running out of juice but overall we enjoyed our stay in the hotel and would love to go back for another break soon....
