comments I got advised by email the friday before I was due to stay in Avlon (which was Sunday) that i had been moved elsewhere due to buinness men wanting to stay longer. no contact was made my phone and i got moved to a guesthouse charging 39eur a night but was expected to pay the full 45euro due to them exepting the same terms and conditions and me not having enough time to book any other accommodation, i was coming from england so i didnt have enough time/ notice to properly look for alternate accommodation. Needless to say Barroville guesthouse didn't pawn em off like Avlon and we're alot nicer to me. Also they are actually a 3star not a 4star like avlon (avlon seemed to think one particluar rating justified them being 4 star).. anyone go to Barrowville if you want to get treated right!

comments My partner and I were very impressed with the service we received and the standard of accommodation provided at the Avlon. Staff were polite, helpful and courteous without being over-familiar. Our room was immaculate, a great size with a huge bed! The en suite shower room was ideal for us. Breakfast fine, coffee particularly good - only minor criticism was that our request, made when booking, for soya milk (my partner being dairy intolerant) was not catered for. Not a major issues as we always have soya on standby in case. Avlon were quick to apologies for this oversight however when it was brought to their attention. We would not hesitate to recommend the Avlon and would definitely stay there again.

comments We booked for 5 days. Tom, our host, was so kind and the accommodation so charming and comfortable that we extended our stay for 3 more days. Tom's delicious and generous breakfasts were the best we've had in a month of travel in Ireland.

comments Eggs benedict with Cheese slices??? This recipie needs reviewing. Otherwise a delightfull comfortable guest house. The Irish Breakfast tea in the bedrooms was great.The main sign for the guest house out front should be made more obviouse to guests arriving by road. it can hardly be seen if you do not know what you are looking for. The owner should charge for the little extras he provids, like bottled watter to maximise his profits. I wouldnt object to paying for this.
