Despite calling them as we left the airport in a taxi and calling again when we were waiting at the front door of the apartment we still had to wait 20 minutes for the check-in guy to arrive,
The apartment was below the standard I had expected from the description and photos on the website. The bathroom was tiny and the shower leaked all over the floor as the door was not attached. The remainder of the flat was spacious but the furniture was showing it's age and we didn't want to know what the stains on the roof and walls were.
The lock for the front door was extremely difficult to lock with the key from the ourside and we nearly broke fingers/ hands trying to turn the key in the lock. When I called to ask the check-in guy about it he was very unhelpful.
That said the location couldn't really be faulted in terms of access to the main sites and bars and restaurants.
Despite the aforementioned problems Barcelona is still my favourite European city! |

We stayed at Apartment Gothic Blue in April 2008 and were really impressed with the facilities and location. It is tucked away on a lovely little street in the midst of the Barri Gotic so 2 mins walk from good bars, restaurants, plazas and La Rambla. At the front of the apartment you could hear the bustly atmosphere from the street (and when you stood on the quaint tiny balcony) but due to a long corridor leading back to the bedrooms, the back of the property was blissfully quiet for getting to sleep so both great! Facilities in the apartment good - comfortable beds with duvets, kitchen things provided (especially helpful when doing a short city break as we did) and plenty of space. The apartment was on the 2nd floor which did mean quite a few uneven stone steps inside the building, but we managed ok with 2 young children and a buggy and you can park the buggy in an alcove halfway up. Overall, we loved Gothic Blue and would definitely go back! |
