comments Our first time actually stopping at the hotel (we eaten there before and spent many happy evenings in the bar) and we were pleased with the level of service from the freindly staff. we had actually booked twin rooms as at the time of booking there were no double rooms available but when we booked in at reception we were told there were now rooms available and we were put into double rooms. We will definitely be stopping again!

comments My daughter and I very much enjoyed our recent stay at the Cairngorm. We found the staff to be extremely pleasant, efficient and very helpful with information and suggestions for activities. We particularly enjoyed our breakfasts - plenty of variety and freshly cooked 'main' course. We hope we can come back in the future with all the members of the family!

comments - Very friendly and engaged personnel (reception, dinner), it was a pleasure to be served. - Well equipped and quiet guest rooms in a very authentic historic building - We (group of 8 travellers) enjoyed very much the local ambiance and entertainment at the hotel bar. Very lively but not standing in the way of a good night rest. - Very tasty and typical local food at dinner (I got even introduced to haggies and enjoyed it).

comments The hotel is very convenient for the train or bus traveler, yet it is within walking distance of many outdoors activities. One can catch a bus across the street to the ski center, where there is ample hiking in the summer. The bus also passes several campgrounds and lakes.

comments This was our first visit to this lovely cosy hotel and definately wont be our last. We were made to feel very welcome by the friendly staff and nothing was too much bother for them. I was particularly impressed with the restaurant, the food was lovely and excellent value. Also the bar deserves a mention too, very popular and entertainment was great. We had a lovely short break at the Cairngorm hotel and are looking forward to our next visit.

comments Attractive hotel both externally and internally with lovely tartan furnishings. Room had a nice interior and was warm and clean, no view though which was unfortunate as the hotel is sited in a lovely area. The restaurant served lovely food and the portions were huge! Its good that the hotel has a bar also but would like to have seen some live music or just had some music playing instead of football on the TV. I think the sound should have been turned off so that people could still watch the football while others enjoyed music/entertainment. I believe the hotel has entertainment at the weekend but as we stayed during the week we missed this, so it would be nice if they could include the weekdays also. I would stay here again as it is a lovely hotel, the staff were very friendly and helpful and it is in a great position to explore the surrounding areas.

comments We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is very nice and clean.The entertainment in the bar is always good for a laugh too. the only downside was that the breakfast was a little disappointing - I really fancied a croissant and when I ate it I found it wasn't fresh (not that I told them), and it wouldn't stop me staying again, in fact we're going back this month for a long weekend thi9s time. Worth a stay.

comments Photographs on website do not do the hotel justice. They just lost the atmosphere of the place. Your staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was wonderful, with the exception of the Highland porridge, every other item we tried was first rate. The carpet in the bedroom was a little thread bare, but this did not spoil our visit. Thank you once again for a lovely break.

Our room could have done with a freshen up. It also had a smell of smoke when we first went in to the room. Overall we had a very nice stay and would go back again.

comments We booked as a group of 6 people and everything was first class and it was exactly what we were looking for. Easy to check in and friendly reception staff. Rooms were confortable and clean and had some character. There was always a good buzz and atmosphere about the hotel during the day and in the evenings where often there would be live acts playing, sport of TV and generally people having a good time. Would really recomend this hotel if staying in Aviemore........assuming you want somewhere a bit lively and busy.

comments We really enjoyed our stay at the Cairngorm Hotel. The staff were fantastic, as always, and our family were made to feel really welcome. We ate in the restaurant and the steak was one of the best I have ever tasted. The only downside was the frozen chips served, which took away from the meal, get the boys to get a spud peeler out !! Thank you for a wonderful stay, we look forward returning next year.

comments Found hotel staff to be very welcoming and friendly was particulary impressed that a seperate gluten free menu was available in restaraunt. Food was very good bar in evening was very busy and a bit difficult for residents to enjoy a quiet drink. Room was spacious and comfortable with only the decor letting it down being a bit tired,but would certainly return.

comments The Cairngorm is ideally situated for anyone travelling by train (or bus) or anyone wanting to travel on the preserved Strathspey Steam Railway being immediately opposite the railway station in the centre of town. It remains in many ways an old fashioned highland hotel but with en suite facilities. Staff are friendly and atmosphere relaxing. Restaurant is well used by residents and others, fairly traditional but can be better and value than more fashionable competition. Breakfast menu is good and Scottish, offering poached haddock and eggs and kippers as well as the usual fare. I don't think it is an exceptional hotel but it is good and remains my first choice if I'm in Aviemore.

comments As a base to explore the highlands we could not have chosen better than The Cairngorm Hotel, the saff were friendly and ready to be of assistance be it in the resturant or the bar. There was something for everyone on the menu and when our meals arrived we weren't disappointed in taste or quantity nor quality. The room was just what you require, clean, tidy, with adequate space. Would we go back to the Cairngorm Hotel, if we are ever in the area again then it would be a resounding yes.

comments MY wife and I had a great 3 days in Cairngorm hotel. We primarily came up to have dinner on the steam train which was better than we could have hoped for and we would both highly recommend it. Hotel was a susual warm and friendly with good service and very friendly staff. Only comment about the room would be lack of drawers to store clothes, but clean and warm. Breakfasts were wonderful and served with polite and helpful staff the only negative we found was the 1970's TV's in the guest rooms, please bring your hotel up to date with flat screen TV's. The guest rooms and en-suite facilities were clean and comfortable and if in Scotland again would certainly stay at this hotel.

Cela ne nous a pas dérangé lors de la nuit passée au Cairngorm (on a fait la fermeture du pub il y avait un concert accordéon/cornemuse on a passé une superbe soirée). Les chambres sont confortables et propres. On nous a changé de chambre sans broncher car la première donnait sur l'arrière cuisine et les poubelles et on y entendait le bruit des hottes ou des frigos. La seconde était très bien avec vue sur les montagnes.

comments We were extremely happy with our stay at the Cairngorm, everyone very helpful and most efficient, room was very comfortable and service first class. Having stayed at a major chain hotel just out of Aviemore last year there is no comparison and the Cairngorm absolutely deserves its first place spot on Trip Adviser. The restaurant was very well run and the food just perfect, not surprising that it was packed everynight of our stay! Very pleased to see all the staff were locals, and not the foreign students we encountered on our last stay in Aviemore. All in all a first class stay and we will not consider staying anywhere else in Aviemore when we next visit.

My only complaint was the lady who was on at breakfast could do with being a little more customer focused as she made me feel a little uncomfortable (Grumpy). Having come down from a snowy Cairngorm walk we received a warm reception despite being in wet walking clothes, found a cosy room and comfortable bed, enjoyed a roast Sunday dinner and a well kept pint of beer followed next morning by a full Scottish breakfast. The reception staff then kept an eye on our luggage until it was time to catch our train. The railway station is only a minutes walk away which is ideal if you have heavy luggage or are not too mobile. My third stay.

ON the downside, the room was off the main corridor - paper thin walls meant no privacy and getting woken up at many points through the night. Also I forgot an item in the room and was charged £5 to send this back - I have been to other hotels where there is no charge for this and worse, the actual postage was £1.28.

comments Hotel has fairly basic rooms, but all extremely clean and well presented. The hotel bar has a fantastic atmosphere and you are welcomed like a local. Always something on and the staff can't do enough to help you. The restaurant was also excellent. The choice and standard of the plates were very good, and the portion sizes were more than generous. I personally recommend the prawn cocktail, the biggest i've ever seen and even comes with a sparkler! Overall a very pleasant experience and will definately be returning!

comments A delightful hotel, probably the one I liked the best on my trip to Scotland. The decor, bar and restaurant were all very warm and inviting this winter season. The place was very comfortable and convenient, accross from the train station and the bus up to Cairngorm not to mention a lovely hike to Rothiemurchus. The meals were good too!

comments My wife and I were very pleased with the courteous attention of the staff at reception and in the restaurant. We had an excellent and abundant selection for our breakfast,and a varied dinner menu which we both tried something different,and really enjoyed the meals.

comments The Cairn is truly the heart of Aviemore. Consistently busiest bar and restaurant in town yet rooms always remain peaceful if you prefer to chill out.

comments have stayed at the cairgorm many times before and always found it a great hotel, but we did think the staff could have been a bit more freindly and helpful, room was nice and clean, food is great at the hotel
