comments A beautiful location. Extremely helpful and friendly staff. The owner of the hotel is an excellent host. The public rooms are exceptionally well decorated and a plethora of books and magazines are available for guests to peruse. Lots of masterful paintings on the walls by Lesley MacDonald, the Wife of the owner. The food is fantastic - lots of very fresh fish and local produce. An extensive wine list compliments the food. Our only very slight criticism was with our room. There was a gale during one of the nights we stayed and the sash windows rattled and whistled all night. It was nothing that a creatively placed piece of cardboard couldn't rectify but it was noisy. Having said this, the view of the sea and the islands opposite the hotel more than made up for a slightly disturbed night.

comments We thouroughly enjoyed our stay in your hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We were made to feel very welcome and nothing was any trouble to them. The food was excellent, room clean and inviting. The art exhibitions held there are not to be missed. The rooms have wonderful views over the islands and the canal always is a draw for boats.

comments I'd read various reviews about the hotel before booking, many of them less than positive. However, I decided to follow my instinct and go ahead and book and I'm glad I did. The food was wonderful especially the seafood. All the staff were very friendly especially Cathy. The situation of the hotel is idyllic with exceptional views and beautiful walks close by. Some reviews say the hotel is jaded and yes it hasn't been built 2 yrs ago and so does not have the standard 'box style' rooms of those hotels. If you want that then don't come to Crinan - its not that sort of place. I found Crinan had a certain magic welcoming warmth about it that took you back to a bygone and much missed era. My only negative point would be the lack of a bottle of Bollinger champagne. Its the sort of place where folk buy champagne so an ample supply would be useful. Having said that there was an alternative

comments The Crinan is a warm, welcoming, well-run hotel with one of the best views of the sea we've ever experienced. Owned by an artist, original work hangs throughout and a gallery is on the top floor. It is a magical place.

comments I had the most wonderful stay last Sunday at this idyllically located hotel, and was made to feel like royalty by the attentive and thoughtful staff, even though I was only there for one night...particularly by Catherine on Reception...I only had to ask her if something might be possible, and it was done. The langoustines on the bar menu were the freshest Ive ever tasted, and thoughtfully my table was relocated half way through so i could enjoy the beautiful shore-line view at its best...would not hesitate to recommend The Crinan Hotel

comments Dear Frances and Nick, Thank you for our wonderful recent stay - from the warm welcome from yourselves and all the staff, to the very well-appointed third floor room with probably one of the best views in Scotland, dinner was great and breakfast couldn't be bettered! The fact that your hotel overlooks the sea-lock at western end of the Crinan Canal with all transiting modern yachts and 19th century fishing smacks made the holiday for us come sunshine or occasional shower. Your Coffee shop and Gallery overlooking the basin were the ideal place for a warming cuppa and fine piece after a walk along the towpath to Crinan Bridge - and the signed exhibition poster will find pride of place in one of our rooms here in Aberdeenshire. Thank you once more for all your kind hospitality - hopefully we'll be back again before too long!

comments The Crinan Hotel was everything we hoped for, and more. The service, room and food was outstanding. One night in the seafood bar, we chatted with a couple who spent their honeymoon at the hotel 27 years. She said they keep coming back, and my wife and I will do the same.

comments We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Crinan Hotel. Our room was comfortable and had a lovely view. Meals were excellent...well prepared and featured fresh, local ingredients. Service was attentive and friendly without being intrusive. Coffee or a wee dram in front of the fireplace was especially nice. Scenic walks along the adjacent canal and nearby historic and archaeological sites made this a great destination.

comments The Crinan Hotel is one of my favourites in Scotland. I have stayed there seven or eight times over the last 17 years, with family and with friends. It is a gentle haven that never fails to relax. Food and service are perfect. Lunching on queenies and a supper of langoustine. Bliss for me. I hope it never changes. Thank you so much Nick & Francis, Catherine and Chris.

comments excellent relaxing spot for us after 1 week of cycling. Wonderful location with amazing view from our room. Great time spent reading in the sun while looking at the busy canal activity. Unfortunatelly the owner old sailing boat was not in. Good restaurant with excellent fish and sea food but not very lively. More fun in the more informal pub.
